<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a lock cylinder with a housing and a cylinder core rotatably mounted therein, which has a profiled key channel, into which spring-loaded tumbler pins protrude, which can be moved into a release position by a key from a position blocking the rotation of the cylinder core.
Divided core and housing pins are usually used as tumbler pins, which are shifted by the key coding - be it a serration on the key face or recesses on the flat side - in such a way that the abutting surfaces between the core and housing pins lie in the outer surface of the cylinder core. In locking systems, several such push surfaces are provided for each tumbler as a result of multiply divided pins, so that it is possible to lock one and the same lock within a locking system with differently coded keys. Regardless of this, coding pins are known which, for example, lie unsprung in an aligned bore of the core and are immersed in a housing recess.
If a key has a recess at the corresponding point, the coding pin can withdraw from the housing recess when the core rotates and can dip into the key recess.
As a result of the natural wear of the tumbler pins in very frequently used locking cylinders as well as in the locking systems mentioned at the beginning, it can happen that a false key that is not fully inserted into the key channel locks due to the multiply shared tumbler pins, because accidentally due to the entry slants of the key coding, e.g. . B. toothing, division or one of the possible divisions of the tumbler pins in locking system cylinders is reached. The invention aims to ensure that a rotation of the key in the cylinder is only possible when the key is fully inserted.
This is achieved in that, in addition to the tumbler pins, which may be divided several times and matched to the key coding, a locking lug engages in the area of the key channel provided for the key back next to the inner end of the key channel
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a spring plate fastened in the housing is arranged and can be pushed back against the force of the spring plate by a flank of the key at the tip of the key from the key channel into the housing. The locking lug, in coordination with the slope of the key tip, engages in the key channel that is open at the top, where the key spine adjoining the key tip begins when the key is fully inserted.
This means that only the fully inserted key cancels this turnstile for the cylinder core. In particular, it is expedient if the spring plate lies in a tongue-like manner in a recess parallel to the core bore axis and is fastened at one end to the housing, for example by means of a rivet connection, while the other end of the spring plate carries the locking lug which extends through an opening in the housing and directly snaps into the key channel of the cylinder core. The narrow leaf spring therefore lies in a recess or recess on the outside of the housing which is deep enough to allow the locking lug to be raised up to the enveloping surface of the housing. The depth of the recess corresponds at least to the depth of engagement of the locking lug.
If with a locking cylinder of a locking system of any make, e.g. B. with a cylinder that can be locked by a lot of keys, after years of complaint by incomplete insertion of a wrong key, a locking process can be carried out, then it is expedient and usually the more economically sensible way, not the many keys, but the To replace the lock cylinder and to use an equivalent locking device which has the turnstile according to the invention.
A very special advantage of the invention is that such a locking cylinder, regardless of its origin, can be retrofitted very easily according to the invention without having to disassemble it. A recess is simply milled in the housing above the key channel, a hole is drilled and the spring plate is fixed in the recess with the locking lug penetrating the hole. This makes the cylinder fully operational again. Even if the tumbler pins happen to come before the end position of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Key in the cylinder core, the cylinder core cannot be rotated, i.e. the cylinder cannot be locked.
If, due to a slight
EMI3.1
intervening, then the Hobbian scanning principle remains ineffective, because a division of the tumbler pins is not perceptible due to the lack of play in the cylinder core relative to the housing when scanning.
It should also be mentioned that the spring plate can also be attached on the foot side by clamping it in a groove or by another form-fit or force-fit connection.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in the drawings. 1 shows a longitudinal section through part of a double cylinder with the tumbler pins and the coupling omitted when the key is not fully inserted, and FIG. 2 shows the illustration according to FIG. 1 with the key fully inserted.
1 and 2, a locking cylinder comprises a cylinder housing 1 in which a cylinder core 2 is rotatably mounted.
Tumbler pins (not shown) in bores 3 interact with a key 4, in particular a set of teeth (not shown) on the key bit, as usual. In Fig. 1 a cross section of the cylinder core 2 with key channel 5 is shown in dashed lines. The spring-loaded tumbler pins, which are subdivided into core and housing pins, are thus displaced by the toothing on the key bit bearing the code so that the joints of the core pins with the housing pins lie against one another in the outer surface of the cylinder core 2. If this criterion applies, the key 4 can be turned together with the cylinder core 2 in the cylinder housing 1.
In the case of locking systems, the tumbler pins can, as is known, be designed to be divided several times, so that locking with keys 4 with different codes is possible.
With an incorrect key, division is not achieved, but it could be that if the key 4 is not completely inserted into the key channel 5, the tumbler pins take the release position quite accidentally. To in this
