Seal for sectional boiler
The invention relates to a seal for sectional boilers in which there is at least one sealing groove in each of the strip-shaped sealing surfaces at the joints of the individual sections in the vicinity of the
Water space and the outer wall of the boiler is located.
When assembling a central heating boiler from individual sections, the interior of the boiler, i.e. H. Firebox and flue gas ducts, generally only sealed with putty from the outside. With the
Time, and especially when the sealing surfaces take on higher temperatures, the putty dries, contracts and cracks, so that the boiler leaks. This again entails. that false air can enter the boiler, which disrupts the operation and reduces the efficiency. The tightness of the boiler is therefore a prerequisite for perfect and economical operation.
The invention aims to remedy this drawback, and provides that the sealing groove with respect to the center line of the sealing strip is asymmetrical, u. Between the side facing away from the furnace, it is arranged to protect the sealing material from higher temperatures.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention.
The individual boiler sections G touch one another or are pressed against one another along the sealing surfaces D. These sealing surfaces each have at least one groove, the shape of which can be any, but the position of which is selected so that it is exactly opposite the mirror-image groove of the adjacent boiler section, so that both grooves form a cavity H in which the sealing material is inserted.
As can be seen from the drawing, this cavity is located in the vicinity of the boiler water space or the two water spaces of the boiler sections. The sealing grooves are asymmetrical with respect to the center line of the sealing strip, u. betw. moved away from the combustion chamber to the outside in order to protect the sealing material from higher temperatures.
The sealing material is advantageously not putty or not just putty, but an elastic or fibrous material such. B. Asbestos or asbestos cord, possibly also impregnated, is used. Since this material no longer needs to be resistant to high temperatures, other elastic, non-fire-resistant seals can also be used.
