Die Herstellung von Fettsäureestern ist zwar bekannt, doch hat bisher niemand gefunden und erkannt, dass diese Ester von hohem technischen Wort für die genannten Zwecke sind. Man hat auch wohl getrachtet die Fette synthetisch aus Glyzerin und Fettsäure herzustellen, doch ist dies bis jetzt noch nicht gelungen ; es bleiben immer grössere Prozentsätze Fettsäure unangegriffen. Der Grund wird darin zu suchen sein, dass Glyzerin ein dreiwertiger Alkohol ist, sich leicht Mono- und Diglyzeride bilden, die sich wieder leicht beim Auswaschen mit Wasser zersetzen.

The production of fatty acid esters is known, but so far no one has found or recognized that these esters are a high technical term for the purposes mentioned. Attempts have also been made to produce fats synthetically from glycerine and fatty acids, but this has not yet been achieved; increasing percentages of fatty acids remain unaffected.
