Device for indicating the clogging of a vacuum cleaner filter
Devices for indicating the clogging of a vacuum cleaner filter have become known, which are arranged within the air stream cleaned by the filter and are actuated by the flow pressure of the air stream. So one has z. B. proposed, within the housing cap provided on the exhaust side of the vacuum cleaner, a disk or the like. Resilient in the direction of the blown air flow, z. B. by means of a spiral spring to store. As long as the filter is not clogged, this disc makes a relatively large deflection. When the filter becomes more and more clogged and the air flow is reduced accordingly, the disk goes back and shows the degree of clogging of the vacuum cleaner filter.
Furthermore, a display device has been proposed in which the blown air flow is passed through a separate chamber in which a disc is rotatably mounted which carries a pointer which ends with its free tip above a scale. The air stream flowing through moves the disk and thus the pointer. Such display devices are relatively complicated and expensive, which is why the invention aims at a display device for the clogging of a vacuum cleaner filter which is extremely simple to manufacture and operate.
The display device according to the invention, which is actuated in a manner known per se by the flow pressure of the air stream cleaned by the filter, is characterized in that in a tube provided on the exhaust side of the vacuum cleaner, preferably protruding into the housing and through which part of the filtered air flows a body, e.g. B. a ball, is provided, which body in the tube is driven up more or less according to the strength of the air flow passing through the tube. Such a device is simple and cheap to manufacture and still works accurately even after a long period of operation. It also has the advantage that it can be easily accommodated in the vacuum cleaner housing since it takes up little space.
The tube containing the ball or the like is expediently provided at both ends with constrictions, cross pieces or the like, which prevent the ball from falling out of the tube.
1 of the drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of one with the device according to the invention

nozzle 2 inlet. 3 is an externally pressurized dust filter that separates the dust contained in the air flow. On the boiler 1, the upper housing part 4 is placed, on which the blower unit consisting of the blower 5 and the drive motor 6 is attached. The cleaned compressed air emerging from the blower 5 is blown out in the direction of the arrow 7 through slots located between the upper part 4 and the boiler 1. A pipe section 8 is now inserted into the upper part of the housing, through which a small part of the blown air escapes into the open.
As long as the filter 3 is not clogged, a ball 9 located in the pipe 8 is lifted into the position shown in broken lines by this blown air, in which it is visible to the operator of the vacuum cleaner. The weight of the ball and the blown air flow that passes through the tube are dimensioned in such a way that if the air flow is restricted when the filter is clogged, the ball sinks downwards, indicating that the filter bag is clogged. The tube 8 is provided with constrictions at the upper and lower ends which prevent the ball from falling out of the tube.
If necessary, a pin can be attached to the body that is movably mounted in the pipe and protrudes from the end of the pipe when the filter bag is not yet clogged as long as the motor is running. From the position of this pin you can also see whether the filter bag is clogged or not.
Fig. 2 of the drawing shows an embodiment of a display device designed in this way. In the tube 11, which is attached to the upper part 12 of the vacuum cleaner, a piston-like disc 13 is mounted, which is displaced by the flow pressure of the cleaned blown air against the action of a helical spring 14. A pin 15, which lies approximately in the axis of the tube 11, is now attached to the disk 13. As long as this pin protrudes from the tube 11, this indicates that the dust filter bag is not yet clogged. If, on the other hand, it no longer emerges from the pipe 11 while the vacuum cleaner is in operation, it can be seen from this that the dust filter is clogged.
