<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for separating air and small solid components from liquids, in particular from oil
The invention relates to a device for separating air and small solid components from liquids, in particular from oil, by the action of centrifugal force.
A device has already been proposed for separating air and small solid components from liquids by the action of centrifugal force, which consists of a centrifugal drum mounted on a hollow shaft and provided with blades, one of which is provided with a centrally arranged oil inlet opening and the other of which is a baffle plate is trained. An annular oil drainage opening is located between the outer circumference of the baffle plate and the drum shell. The end of the drum shell protrudes beyond the baffle plate and is delimited by a rotating, radially inwardly projecting, annular cover disk arranged at right angles to the drum shell, so that an annular overflow channel is formed between this cover disk, part of the baffle plate and the drum shell end.
In between there are small radial blades that form a structural bond. The disadvantage of this design is the insufficient separation of dirt and the conveyance of oil that has not been defoamed between the rotating centrifugal drum and a stationary centrifugal housing in the oil drainage line.
The object on which the invention is based is to create a device for separating air and small, solid components from liquids, which eliminates the identified deficiencies and, with a structurally simple design, achieves the greatest possible cleaning of the liquid and creates the prerequisites for good maintenance.
According to the invention, this is done in a device for separating air and small solid components from liquids, in particular from oil, by centrifugal force by means of a centrifugal drum mounted on a hollow shaft and provided with blades, one drum base being provided with a concentrically arranged oil inlet opening and the other drum base is designed as a baffle plate, the ring-shaped oil discharge opening of which is located on the drum shell at the point of the highest fluid pressure and on the outer side of the oil discharge opening an annular disk with the baffle plate and a drum shell end protruding beyond this, forming an annular channel, is arranged coaxially to the hollow shaft provided with air discharge bores, achieved by
that the drum shell has dirt removal openings that extend over the entire circumference of the drum shell, run concentrically to the hollow shaft at a small distance in front of the oil drain opening and connect the centrifugal drum space with a separate dirt collection space. Between the rotating baffle plate and the stationary annular disc, a radial blading that runs around the baffle plate is arranged.
The dirt particles are discharged through the dirt discharge openings into the separate dirt collecting space. The arrangement of the dirt removal openings in the drum shell creates two circuits instead of the circuit existing between the centrifugal drum and the stationary centrifugal housing, one between the dirt removal openings and the oil drainage line and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the other between the dirt removal openings and the oil supply line. By omitting the cover disk, a greater pressure builds up contrary to the first-mentioned circuit, which limits the flow rate of this circuit to a minimum.
In the further embodiment of the invention, the dirt removal openings, which are preferably designed as a dirt removal slot extending concentrically to the hollow shaft over the entire circumference of the Schleltder drum, are connected to the dirt collecting space by an annular space and an oil inflow bore. In order to utilize the kinetic energy of the liquid in the centrifugal drum, the oil inflow bore is preferably arranged tangentially to the centrifugal drum against its direction of rotation.
An oil drain hole opens either in the direction of rotation of the centrifugal drum tangentially into the annular space or into the oil inflow line of the centrifugal drum. The different sizes of the flow cross-sections of the oil inflow and oil outflow bores to the dirt collecting space ensure good regulation of the oil quantity and thus a good degree of cleaning.
The arrangement of a filter element in the dirt collecting space brings with it a further improvement in the degree of cleaning and also enables good maintenance.
A further radial blading between the drum base, which is provided with a concentrically arranged oil inlet opening, and the oil inlet end of the centrifugal housing, which rotates with the drum base, limits the flow rate of the second circuit formed by the dirt discharge opening to a minimum.
The rear upper edge of the dirt removal slot located in the drum shell and extending over its entire circumference perpendicular to the hollow shaft, seen along the inside of the drum shell in the direction of flow of the dirt particles, is offset radially inward to ensure reliable removal of the dirt particles. It is also possible to arrange several dirt collecting spaces provided with a filter element.
An exemplary embodiment is explained below with reference to the drawing, u. Between: FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the device according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIG.
The device for separating air and small solid components from oil consists of a centrifugal drum 1 which is provided with radial blades 3 and which is mounted on a hollow shaft 2 which has air discharge bores 4. The centrifugal drum l has a drum shell 5, a drum base 6 which is provided with a concentrically arranged oil inlet opening 7, and on the opposite side a baffle plate 8 replacing the second drum base. A gap remaining between the circumference of the baffle plate 8 and the drum jacket 5 forms a space Oil discharge opening 9. On the outer side of the oil discharge opening 9, an annular disk 11, which forms an annular channel 10 with the baffle plate 8 and part of the drum shell 5, is arranged coaxially to the hollow shaft 2.
In the annular channel 10 between the baffle plate 8 and the annular disc 11 there is a radial blading 12 arranged at a distance from the hollow shaft 2 and firmly connected to the centrifugal drum l. The connection from the centrifugal drum chamber 13 to a dirt collecting chamber 14 is through a, located in the drum shell 5 located, concentric to the hollow shaft 2 extending over its entire circumference dirt removal slot 15, an annular channel 16 and an oil supply bore 17 running tangentially to the centrifugal drum 1. The drum shell 5, which is divided into two parts by the dirt removal slot 15, is held together by the blades 3. The dirt collecting space also has a magnetic filter 18 and an oil drain hole 20 opening tangentially into the annular space 16.
On the outer side of the drum base 6, radial blades 22 are arranged at a distance from the hollow shaft 2 between the latter and a stationary centrifugal housing 21.
The rear upper edge 23 of the dirt removal slot 15 located in the drum shell 5 and extending concentrically to the hollow shaft 2 over its entire circumference, seen in the direction of flow of the dirt particles along the inside of the drum shell 5, is arranged offset radially inward.
The operation of the device is as follows: The foamed oil flowing through the oil inlet opening 7 is set in rotation by the centrifugal drum 1 and its radial blading 3 and is pressed against the drum shell 5 as a result of the centrifugal force. The rotational movement of the centrifugal drum 1 keeps an oil level at the level of the inner edge of the annular disk 11 constant. The air is discharged from the oil through the air discharge bores 4 into the hollow shaft 2, from where it is passed on into the atmosphere above the oil level through an oil container, not shown, in order to deposit the fine droplets of high-quality oil carried along in the air in the oil container.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The small solid constituents contained in the oil are hurled against the drum shell 5 as a result of the centrifugal force. By removing the cleaned oil from the side opposite the drum base 6 at the point of highest pressure, a flow along the drum shell 5 is generated. The dirt particles thus migrate along the drum shell 5 in the direction of the oil drain opening 9. They get into the dirt drainage slot 15 located a short distance in front of the oil drain opening 9 in the drum shell 5 and extending concentrically to the hollow shaft 2 over its entire circumference .
A better guarantee for the dirt particles sliding out is that in the direction of flow
Dirt particles seen along the drum shell 5, the rear upper edge of the dirt removal slot which is located in the drum shell 5 and extends over its entire circumference and is arranged offset radially inward. The dirt particles continue to slide via the annular channel 16 through the oil inflow bore 17 into the dirt collecting space 14 and are separated there from the liquid by the magnetic filter 18. The oil freed from dirt particles then flows from the filter space 14 via the oil drain hole 20 into the annular channel 16.
Only a small part of the amount of oil passes through the cleaning circuit and the dirt collecting chamber, while the remaining part, cleaned, flows through the oil drain opening 9.
The cross section of the oil outflow hole 20 is smaller than that of the oil inflow hole n. This results in good regulation of the oil quantity and thus an increased degree of purification of the oil. The entire amount of cleaned and vented oil flows out through the oil outflow opening 9 and the annular channel 10 formed between the baffle plate 8 and the annular disc 11.
The radial blading 12 fastened to the baffle plate 8 in the annular channel 10 almost prevents the oil level from rising when the speed is changed. The radial blades 22 on the drum base 7 limit the oil flow of the circuit between the dirt removal slots 15 and the oil supply line 19 to a minimum.
