<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

the other legs of which are supported by a locking mechanism for driving a movable platen, the free ends of the legs of the machine frame, which are not connected by spars, deform under the influence of the closing force occurring during the closing process, and wherein a longitudinal machine direction between at least one platen and the machine frame extending joint bar is arranged, which is deformed when the closing force is absorbed, as a result of which the mold mounting plate is tilted relative to the associated leg of the machine frame. In previous decades, tie-bar-less mulled glass machines were generally attempted,
To keep the deformation of the C-shaped machine frame under the influence of the closing force as low as possible However, tie-bar-less machines have only become of any practical importance since the start has been made to allow a certain deformation of the machine frame and to compensate for it with suitable measures. It is moghch between each of the thick platen and the attached leg of the machine frame

exactly compensated, sqpass the mold parting plane is rigidly connected to the machine frame when the mold clamping plate is suspended, and the movable mold clamping plate is mounted so that it can tilt so that it can undergo the pivoting that the fixed mold clamping plate experiences under the influence of the clamping force.
3 - 6 of AT 400 022 B a corresponding constructive solution is shown, which corresponds to the definition given at the beginning.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The well-known construction according to AT 400 022 B places the emphasis entirely on the pivoting of the movable platen under the influence of the closing force.
In this sense, recesses which are continuous over a large part of the cross section allow compression of the lower part of the bar. In contrast, the invention is based on the consideration that, at the closing pressures necessary for injection molding, the actual problem is not the bending of the beam, but the absorption of the closing force. It is a matter of absorbing the closing force without the material of the joint part being plastically deformed, while the latter is sufficiently bent by the moment occurring between the two mold halves to compensate for the opening of the frame legs. This is achieved by a shape in which the cross section of the joint part increases in the same direction, starting from the central beam.
This measure locates the pivot axis of the movable platen in the central area of the joint part. In addition, the connection to the neighboring machine parts is ensured, which can be of lower quality than the joint part itself due to the wider contact surface.
The flange-like design of the ends of the joint part according to the invention makes it possible to integrally form a stop on one of the flanges, which limits the pivoting of the movable platen in one and preferably in both directions.

consists of a longitudinal bar 6, the cross section of which forms a horizontal rectangle. This bar 6 extends in both directions in the same direction to flanges 9 and 10, which are connected to the adjacent plates 5 and 22.
The central axis 8, which is defined by the centering devices for the mold halves 22, 23 provided on the mold clamping plates 4, 5, runs entirely inside the beam 6, preferably displaced slightly in the lower half thereof.
If closing pressure is exerted on the closed mold by means of the locking device 21, this is passed through the bar 6, which bulges upwards as soon as the mold mounting plates 4 and 5 incline together clockwise. This inclination is limited by a stop part 11 which is integral with the flange 10 and which (see FIG. 3) is supported on the platen 5 via a plate spring 12. The pivoting of the platen 5 relative to the rail 19, on which the platen 5 can be moved by means of a slide shoe, is made possible by a resilient connection between the slide shoe 18 and the platen 5.
In the event of overload, the pivoting of the platen 5 is stopped clockwise when the gap 16 is completely closed.
Movement of the platen 5 counterclockwise, as is possible, in particular, in the case of a mold arranged too high, limits a counterpart 20 engaging behind the stop part 11, which comes into contact with the stop part 11 when the gap 17 is closed. This situation exists when there is no load. The counterpart 20 consists of a set screw 13 which is fixed in the platen 5 and which carries a stop nut 14 fixed by a screw lock 15.
