Process for the preparation of porous supports for concentrated internal treatment
Secretions from the pancreatic gland and similar substances.
It is known to use liquid nutrients, chemicals and the like. Like. In solid, invariable in the intestine permanent porous body, z. B. bran, wood grains, charcoal, glass or quartz sand balls or burnt clay balls, to be pressed in and to cover these bodies with a protective cover that dissolves in the intestine as required.
Tests have shown that such porous bodies are by no means such that, after being charged with the concentrated pure secretion of the pancreatic gland and then provided with a protective cover, they are kept unchanged in such a way that the inner porous body is not destroyed by the liquid secretion .
Porous bodies made of quartz sand can, however, be used as a carrier for the said secretion for internal treatment if other components are added to the raw body according to the invention and this is then connected by annealing with a considerably higher degree of heat than was previously possible is granted with a high grade, spongy porosity.
According to the invention, about 30 9 water glass and 5 (/ kaolin are added to the raw material consisting of quartz sand in a known manner with a weight of 125 9 to produce the carrier.
The balls pressed from it after drying this mass are after complete drying, for. B. in a crucible or muffle furnace with a heat level of about 11500, annealed. As a result of the strong annealing, the balls acquire a high degree of strength, combined with a high-grade, to a certain extent spongy, porosity. The secretion then charged in this highly porous carrier is not capable of any destructive attack after the carriers (balls) have been provided with a coating of wax and keratin in the known manner, followed by cooling and coating. Rather, the secretion is kept in liquid form until the carrier's coating dissolves in the intestine, without any loss of quantity, and only then is it fully effective.
