    Non-magnetic bandage wires.

It is known to produce non-magnetic bandage wires from austenitic iron-chromium-nickel, iron-chromium-manganese and iron-chromium-nickel-manganese alloys. However, the hard-drawn bandage wires produced from these steel alloys have the disadvantage that they become brittle during operation or even during storage.

The invention aims to provide non-magnetic bandage wires, in particular for bandaging
 EMI1.1
Purpose is achieved according to the invention by non-magnetic bandage wires, which consist of an austenitic steel alloy containing 12 to 24% chromium, 7 to 60% nickel, 1 to 6% copper and 0-02 to 0-4% carbon.

Bandage wires made of steel alloys with 15 to 20% chromium, 7 to 11% nickel, 1 to 3% copper and 0-02 to 0-2% carbon have proven particularly useful.

Without deviating from the invention, the nickel in the specified alloys can be replaced in whole or in part by manganese or cobalt or both. If the nickel is completely replaced by manganese, the manganese content can be around 6 to 20%. If the nickel is completely replaced by cobalt, the cobalt content is around 12 to 60%. If the nickel is partially replaced, the manganese and cobalt contents are correspondingly lower. In addition to the elements already mentioned, the alloys used according to the invention can also contain titanium, vanadium, tantalum, niobium, tungsten or molybdenum, individually or in groups, up to 5%.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
