Folding top with freely articulated Eek bow.
In the known convertible top designs, the corner bow is hinged to a fitting part pivoting about a pivot point, so that the bow of the bow not only pivots around the bow rotation axis when the convertible top is folded back, but is also shifted in one plane as a result of the pivoting movement of the fitting part. If it is therefore not conducted, the
EMI1.1
In the condition of the top, a special definition of the corner bow is necessary to prevent the top material from chafing through. It is known to guide the corner bow by levers articulated in the manner of a parallelogram and also to hold it in the end position by these levers. The disadvantage of such a bow guide is that, due to the large number of joints, it is expensive and easily worn.
The top material is also easily pinched by the levers, so that special deflection devices are necessary, and finally, the load on the guide when the top is opened is so unfavorable in the final state that the joints wear out quickly and cause a rattle, especially because the corner bow is self-supporting with a long lever arm is on the guide forming an elongated parallelogram. Instead, the corner bow has already been freely articulated to a fitting part or to the main bow, and when the top is folded back, it can be guided through a fixed curved track and also held in the end position by this.
This known type of construction with a fixed curved path has the disadvantage that the curved path has to be relatively long and consequently takes up space that is extremely tight between the covering, especially in the case of a folding top. The curved path must be arranged at a point where it does not stand in the way of the pivoting fittings, i.e. on the fixed car body wall, so that the corner bow requires a special extension, which makes the use of space and the accommodation of the roof parts even more difficult; on the other hand, the load on the pivot bearing for the corner bow is very unfavorable because the corner bow is cantilevered in the rest position, so that rapid wear of the bearing and an early rattle occurs.
The disadvantages mentioned are avoided by the invention in that the freely hinged corner bow when relaxing the top is placed on a support arranged on both sides of the movable top linkage, such as guide levers or the like, and on this support when the top is further moved back into the end position partly slides, partly rolls. The simplicity of this bow guide is particularly noticeable, as the corner bow immediately after opening the top is placed on a simple bolt or the like, which may be the extension of a hinge bolt, and is carried by this bolt into the end position, where it is then continues to have a strong and good hold.
The bow bar does not need to be specially designed or lengthened with regard to the leadership and scissor-like lever movements when guiding the bow as well as bearings and joints that easily rattle are completely avoided and the swivel joint of the Eek bow is only slightly affected by the leadership of the bow or its support burdened.
In addition, by means of a cam-like design of the bolt serving as a support, a path of the bow bar when folding back the convertible top can be easily and easily achieved which bypasses protruding obstacles such as the rear body wall. A simple bend in the bow parts that come to rest can improve the shape of the path.

The invention thus represents a particularly simple and inexpensive, but extremely effective and safe bow guide that saves space and materials.
The subject of the invention is shown in the drawing using an exemplary embodiment and is described in more detail below.
The figure shows schematically the rear part of a convertible top frame in the tensioned state and the same frame folded back in dash-dotted lines.
It means 1 the corner bow, its support 2 on the main bow. 3 are articulated, u. between. They are stored in the tabs 4. The guide lever J, which connects the main folding top longitudinal support 10, which is articulated on the arm 11, to slide with the main guide rod 6, is connected to the main guide rod 6
Slide shoe 7 articulated end firmly connected to a cam 8, so that this cam rotates when folding back the top 9 relative to the slide shoe 7 or the main guide rod 6.
The cam 8 is used according to the invention as a support for the corner bow 1 when folding back the top, u. betw. place the carrier 2 of the corner bow 1 on the cam 8 when the convertible top 9 is relaxed and the carrier 2 of the eek bow 1 roll slidingly on the cam 8 when the convertible top is further put back. The shape of the cam 8 is designed in such a way that the corner bow is guided around the rear wall of the car or its upper edge at a certain distance when the top 9 is folded back and rests on the cam in such a way that a certain gap between the corner bow! and the back wall remains.
It goes without saying that Iran can also use a fixed bolt instead of the cam 8 and that the slide path of the carrier 2 can be designed to be curved or that curves can be selected for the support as well as for the slide path of the carrier, which then interact.
The purpose of the invention is therefore to intercept the corner bows falling or swiveling downwards as the Verdeek- fabric 9 relaxes due to its gravity, in order to avoid the corner bows 1 falling down first and then b? is pushed in the pivoting of its articulation points 4 backwards over the upper edge of the back wall, with damaging stresses on the top material 9 attached to the corner bow 1. According to the invention, the corner bow, in particular its outer side carrying the convertible top, is in a path 12 bypassing all friction points
