Artificial ice rink.
Artificial ice rinks are known in which a cooling pipe system, which is used to freeze the water applied to the track, is laid in a granular or similar mass.
The invention aims to improve such ice rinks and consists in the following:
A relatively strong bedding is formed from well water-permeable, highly porous and at the same time heat-insulating material. The cooling pipe system is laid on or near the surface of this bedding and finally a blanket is applied on top, which is also made of granular material, the porosity of which, i.e. water permeability, is significantly lower than that of the material used to manufacture the bedding.
The top layer, which is called the cover, only needs to be relatively thin.
The material used for this may have a certain porosity so that it lets water through in small quantities. However, it should be so little porous that if you let water run up onto this ceiling in order to freeze it, it cannot easily run off through the ceiling and there is little thermal resistance. This results in a favorable value for the heat transfer coefficient that is decisive for the freezing process. The material for the ceiling should be such that this ice rink ceiling can be used not only as a base for ice rinks, but also for other purposes, e.g. B. as a sports field. If the composition of the material is appropriately selected, the ice rink can be closed after it has been shut down, i. H. after the ice has thawed and the water contained in the ceiling has seeped away, e.g. B. can be used as a tennis court.
In order to be able to fulfill this purpose, the bedding (lower layer) must have the following properties:
It should be well permeable to water, i. H. be very porous, so that water that comes out of the ceiling

According to FIG. 1, the ice rink consists of a relatively strong bedding 1. This bedding is formed by a z. B. about 40-50 cm thick layer of optical varnish, z. B. coal slag, but especially blast furnace slag. These materials have a very high porosity, so that the water can quickly drain from the top of the layer downwards.
The cooling pipe system is arranged on the upper side of the bedding 1. It consists of cooling coils. 2, which can be arranged in a manner known per se. After installing the cooling pipe system 2, the ceiling is on the bedding. 3 applied. According to the invention, it consists of a granular material. such as B. is suitable as a blanket for tennis courts and sports fields. According to the invention, however, this material should have a significantly lower porosity than the material of the bedding 1. This material of the ceiling must only be slightly porous so that when the ice rink is put into operation, the water applied to the ceiling does not immediately return can flow away.
On the other hand, however, the material should have a low porosity from the thermal engineering explanations given above and in order to ensure that the ceiling is drained and dried off in a relatively short time, in the event that the ice rink is put out of operation due to the refrigeration machine being shut off Ceiling as a sports field, e.g. B. tennis court, should be used. The blanket.' ; can, as the drawing shows, be significantly weaker (e.g. 3 cm above the upper edge of the pipe) than bedding 1.
The peculiarity of the invention is that two layers are used for the ice rink, of which the lower one has high water permeability, i.e. high porosity, and good thermal insulation properties, while the other upper layer, the ceiling, has significantly lower porosity and good thermal conductivity and can be used as a sports field deeke. The cooling pipe system is switched on between these two layers.
Since the invention also aims to make the upper running surface usable as a sports field or tennis court, it is desirable that the upper cover have the best possible elasticity. In order to achieve this, according to the invention, the pipe system is laid on visual waves, similar to how railroad tracks are laid on sleepers. According to the invention, the thresholds should be as elastic as possible. They can be made of wood or metal, e.g. B. iron exist. This further embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. 3-5. Marked here. 1 the bedding, which is designed in the same way as was described above with reference to FIG. The sleepers 4 lie on this bedding, and the pipe system 2 is supported on these sleepers.
Then the ceiling is back. ? applied, the properties of which have already been explained above with reference to FIG.
In Fig. 4 the position of the sleepers with the pipe system is shown for example. 4 and 5 show the connection of the pipe system to the refrigerant line. It denotes 5 the inflow line for the coolant, for. B. chilled brine, and 6 the return line for this coolant; 7 and 8 are shut-off valves. Lines 5 and 6 are connected to any refrigeration system in any way.
From the above explanation of the drawings it can be seen that these representations only show exemplary embodiments of the invention, as the representation in general is more schematic. The inventive idea mentioned above and laid down in the claims can of course be incorporated into the
