Water spoil and affect fish farming.
Such an extensive removal of the harmful constituents, however, presents considerable difficulties both technically and economically. For this reason it has been proposed to dispose of the phenol-containing wastewater by evaporation in boilers or by injection into furnaces.
Particular advantages result if, within the meaning of the invention, this type of wastewater disposal is combined with the generation of water gas, half-water gas or the like in such a way that the wastewater is used instead of ordinary water to operate the usual evaporator forming a heating gas heat storage device. In the case of water gas operation, the iron insert of the evaporator is heated up by the generator gases during the blowing periods, while the stored heat is given off to the injected water during the gassing periods. The steam is passed through the glowing coke layer of the generator, whereby the phenols are split and, under certain circumstances, contribute to increasing the gas yield.
If the existing amount of wastewater is the same as that required for the normal water gas process, the disposal of the wastewater does not cause any system or operating costs. If it is greater, lengthening the hot-blowing period provides a simple means of bringing about the evaporation of the excess water.
