  Projektionsschirm.

  Projection screen.

The invention relates to a projection screen for projecting still or moving images. The projection screens known to date have a white matt or shiny silver surface onto which the images are projected. The pictures get a somewhat dull appearance there. The purpose of the invention is to provide a screen which makes the tonal gradation of the projected image more vivid, so that the image has a more natural effect on the viewer than an image projected on an ordinary white screen.

The screen according to the invention consists of a base body having a dark surface on which colored particles, which contain the primary colors of the spectrum, are arranged in an extremely mixed manner.

It has been found that when you project white light onto such a screen, this screen, which appears completely black in the diffused light, now has a silvery sheen. This is apparently due to the fact that the finely distributed basic colors of the spectrum add up to white in the conspicuous cone of light.

A particularly suitable screen consists of a black, loose fabric, on the surface of which there are colored particles, for example made of ground glass. The glass particles are formed from the basic colors of the spectrum and are finely mixed. In the incident light this screen appears white, while it appears black in the diffused light.

Of course, instead of the glass particles, you can also use splashes of paint, sand or the like, and you will achieve the same result. The base body can also be made from other material, for example from paper, cardboard, asbestos or the like.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Projection screen, characterized in that colored particles which contain the primary colors of the spectrum are arranged very finely mixed on a base body having a dark surface.
