Reihenschaltungslampe.

Series connection lamp.
The invention relates to an electric incandescent lamp which is provided in a known manner with a resistor attached parallel to the filament, which does not allow any or almost no current at the operating voltage of the lamp, but can become conductive due to a higher voltage and if the filament breaks this way short-circuits the two feed lines. These lamps, called series lamps for short, are used for street or sewer lighting, for illumination purposes and in general where it is advantageous to connect a number of lamps in series.
If one of these lamps suffers damage, e.g. If, for example, the filament breaks, the resistor creates a short circuit that prevents the entire row of lamps from being de-energized.
The electric incandescent lamp according to the invention is provided with a resistor which consists of cadmium oxide, which can be accommodated in the lamp in powder form.
The cadmium oxide can easily be brought into powder form and is very stable. It is easily available and retains its good properties despite the adverse effects that occur as a result of the base being cemented onto the glass bulb. The breakdown voltage of the cadmium oxide depends on the fineness of the powder, u. between it is the higher, the finer the powder is. So you can get through
EMI1.1
change at will.
You can z. B. with powdered cadmium oxide achieve breakdown voltages that fluctuate between 250 volts and practically 0 volts.
The cadmium oxide occurs as a mineral, but can also be chemically, e.g. B. by heating cadmium nitrate.
