  Holzschraube.

  Wood screw.

Wood screws are known whose core diameter increases gradually towards the tip of the screw while the thread depth remains the same. These screws do not have a significantly greater effect than conventional wood screws, as the thread depth always remains the same, so that the threads cut evenly deep into the wood, which means that there is only little resistance to tearing the screw from the wood.

According to the invention, such wood screws are improved in that with the gradual increase in the external thread diameter towards the tip of the screw, the core diameter of the screw gradually decreases in the same direction. This gives the thread turns a thread depth that gradually increases towards the tip of the screw, so that the screw in the wood is better secured against being torn out.

In the drawing, a wood screw according to the invention is shown. The external thread diameter gradually increases towards the tip of the screw, while the core diameter of the screw decreases in the same direction, so that the threads have a thread depth that gradually increases towards the tip.

It is noted that wood screws are known in which the part of the thread located on the conical tip retains the same outermost diameter as the thread on the screw shaft until shortly before its course after the tip end with decreasing core diameter.
