Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger.

Direction indicators.
The invention relates to a further embodiment of the direction indicator according to patent no. 114119 and relates to the special formation of the light signal. In order to make the meaning of the signal more obvious, it has proven advantageous to associate it with a pointing arrowhead. There are already travel direction indicators in the form of a sleeve surrounding the incandescent lamp known, which is closed at the end by a cut glass. The glass protrudes in the shape of a dome over the end of the sleeve and should also scatter the light sideways through the grinding surfaces. The grinding surfaces, which converge at the highest point of the summit, are hit very steeply by the light rays, so that their side-reflecting effect is small.
This glass closure will therefore not be rated as an arrowhead from an oncoming or following vehicle. Rather, this only becomes apparent when the glass insert of the sleeve forms a cone, the height of which is at least as large as the base diameter.
The side-reflecting effect of the conical shell illuminated from the inside is also a good one.
In a further embodiment of the invention, a window cutout is provided on the underside of the housing, which allows a cone of light to fall onto the footboard.
With this design of the direction indicator according to the parent patent, it is also suitable for use as a parking light and as a footboard lighting.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment in FIG. 1 in a side view and in FIG. 2 in a plan view in section.
As in the main patent, the incandescent lamp 6 is inserted at the free end of the tubular strut 1, for which the strut end forms the housing 2 equipped with window openings 4. The windows 3 that are positioned forwards and backwards in the direction of travel are, in contrast to the arrangement shown in the main patent, circular and closed by lenses. The side panels are beveled in order to shade the illuminated lenses preferably against the car. In the axial direction of the strut 1, a window is provided according to the present invention, into which the conical glass body 7 is inserted, the base of which absorbs the light into its interior and appears as a luminous body with its tip pointing in the new direction of travel .
According to the invention, the height of the cone is at least as great as the base diameter. The tip of the cone is advantageously rounded in the shape of a dome, so that a lens effect occurs in the axial direction. The glass body, like the lenses, is advantageously colored yellow or red. At the bottom of the lamp housing there is a window 8 which is only closed by white glass and which allows a cone of light to fall on the running board of the car and also illuminates the adjacent part of the roadway.
