Es wurde bei Brennkraftmaschinen bereits vorgeschlagen, zwecks Änderung der zu steuernden
Arbeitsphasen die Steuernockenwelle durch Vermittlung ihrer Antriebsschraubenräder axial zu ver- schieben.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine weitere Ausgestaltung dieser Anordnung und ihr wesentliches
Kennzeichen besteht darin, dass die Axialverschiebung durch eine gegen die Wellenstirnfläche und der
Axialreaktion der Antriebsschraubenräder entgegenwirkende Kraft erfolgt. Diese Anordnung hat den wesentlichen Vorzug, dass das auf die Wellenstirnfläehe wirkende Organ zugleich das Abstützen der vom Schraubenradantrieb herrührenden Axialreaktion besorgt.
In der Zeichnung bezeichnet a die Steuernockenwelle, die durch Räder e, f mit schraubenförmiger Verzahnung angetrieben wird. Verschiebt man die Welle a axial in der einen oder in der anderen Richtung, so erleidet die Welle durch Vermittlung ihrer Antriebsschraubenräder eine von der Steigung der Schrauben- zähne und den Durchmessern der Schraubenräder abhängige Winkelverdrehung, die eine entsprechende Änderung der gesteuerten Arbeitsphasen mit sich bringt.
Zu diesem Zwecke ist an dem Ende der Welle a, nach welchem sich der von den Schraubenradzähnen herrührende Axialschub geltend macht, ein Stütz- lager g (beispielsweise unter Zwischenschaltung von Kugeln h) angeordnet, welches den Axialschub auf einen kolbenförmigen Teil i überträgt, der, ohne an der Drehung teilzunehmen, in einem zylinder- artigen Gehäuse 1 gleiten kann, das zugleich zur Führung und zum Tragen des Wellenendes dient.
