  Knetbare Dichtung oder Packung für Stopfbuchsen od. dgl. 



   Es sind   Stopfbüchsenpaekungen   bekannt, die aus einer in eine   Netzhulle   aus Draht eingefüllten weichen Packungsmasse (Graphit und Asbest) bestehen. Aus den Maschen der netzartigen Umhüllung kann die weiche Packungsmasse hervortreten und schmieren auf den bewegten, eingepackten Maschinenteil wirken. Ein Vorteil dieser bekannten Packungen ist der, dass sie infolge der Netzumhüllung wie ein Strang, also leicht und sauber, gehandhabt (in den Packungsraum eingebracht) werden können. Ihr Nachteil besteht darin, dass die Netzhülle,   gleichgültig,   ob sie umhüllend oder durchdringbar die Packungsmasse zusammenhält, dem freien Einkneten der Masse immer entgegenwirkt, so dass solche Packungen sich nicht zum Ausfüllen von Räumen unregelmässiger Form eignen.

   Eine Packung, die auch dieser Forderung entspricht, bildet den Gegenstand der Erfindung, die darin besteht, dass der die weiche, knetbare Masse   umsehliessende,   in an sich bekannter Weise ihre Handhabung als Strang sichernde Schlauch aus derart weichem, losem Stoffgewebe od. dgl. besteht, dass die weiche Masse ungehindert durch diesen Schlauch sieh in beliebige Raumquersehnitte füllend einkneten lässt. Praktisch genügt ein Gewebe aus einzelnen Fäden oder Fadengruppen, die gerade ausreichen, die Strangform im Handel (z. B. während des Transportes solcher Packungen) sowie beim Einlegen in den Packungsraum zu erhalten, die aber,

   Stuffing box packings are known which consist of a soft packing compound (graphite and asbestos) filled into a mesh sleeve made of wire. The soft packing compound can emerge from the mesh of the net-like covering and act as a lubricant on the moving, packed machine part. One advantage of these known packs is that, as a result of the net covering, they can be handled (introduced into the pack space) like a strand, that is, easily and cleanly. Their disadvantage is that the mesh cover, regardless of whether it envelops or penetrates the packing compound, always counteracts the free kneading of the compound, so that such packs are not suitable for filling spaces of irregular shape.

   A pack which also meets this requirement is the subject matter of the invention, which consists in that the tube encompassing the soft, kneadable mass and securing its handling as a strand in a known manner consists of such soft, loose fabric or the like that the soft mass can be kneaded and filled into any transverse section of the room through this hose.
