Austrian PATENT NO. 1 0540. ACTIEN-GESELLSCHAFT FOR ANILINE FABRICATION IN BERLIN.

Process for the production of developers in solid form.

It is known that certain dioxybenzenes and amidooxybenzenes, as well as certain substitution derivatives of these products, are suitable for developing photographic images in Ag Cl-,
 EMI1.1
gcdetnitc application. The products are used in an aqueous solution in the presence of carbonic or fixed alkalis and sultitol. Even if long-lasting, concentrated solutions can be produced by means of individual products of the body class mentioned (Rodinal), nothing has yet become known about usable solid developers, which contain all the ingredients necessary for development and can therefore be used without further ado.

It has now been shown that such usable
 EMI1.2
finely divided dehydrated alkali sulfite, and on the other hand so much fixed alkali is added in solid form that the Pbenolatbildung can take place. The developers produced in this way deserve special interest because they represent the developer that can be used immediately in the most concentrated form and therefore a small amount of such solid developer substance is sufficient for a long time. In addition, there is no need for the volatility associated with the use of concentrated aqueous developments
 EMI1.3
as described above, you get a ready-to-use developer from 5 parts of hydroquinone BEZW.

Catechol, 2. ') parts sulfite and 4-5 parts caustic soda. IV. 10 parts of Ortol. 50 parts of sulfite and 7 # 4 parts of caustic soda result in the instant process
 EMI1.4
the above example 1I instead of the caustic soda calc. Soda is used. The use of fixed alkalis is therefore preferred, not only because the ready-to-use developers are obtained in a more concentrated form, but because they are also
 EMI1.5
 are more durable.
