1. Gas burner with a burner head made of soapstone or ceramic mass that is detachably inserted into a metal socket.

Gas burners made of ceramic mass, soapstone or similar materials are too brittle and too uneven to be gas-tight simply by screwing them on or plugging them into a metal fitting.

In the previous manufacturing processes, which have been practiced for decades, the burner head was fastened in a gas-tight manner in a metal sleeve either by cementing in or by pressing in or by flanging the metal edge.

All of these manufacturing processes have the disadvantage that, as soon as the burner insert was unusable, the brass sleeve always had to be thrown away with it, since separation without destruction or at least severe damage to the sleeve was not possible. The large number of brass sleeves to be thrown away every year is to be saved in that the connection between the metal sleeve and the soapstone head is easily detachable and yet gas-tight, with the seal between the burner head and the socket being adjustable.

According to the invention, the seal between the metal sleeve and the burner head is pressed together after the latter has been inserted by means of a gland-like locking nut, the nut of which presses directly on the sealing ring in order to obtain a gas-tight seal. You can also make the device so that the nut of the stuffing box presses on a lower burner projection so that the seal between the metal socket and the burner head is pressed together and the connection between the two is gas-tight. The means just described can also be used to mount burner heads directly on gas pipes in a sealed and replaceable manner.

Some embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the drawing, u. 1 shows an embodiment in which the elastic seal b is compressed after the burner head a has been inserted into the metal socket c by screwing in the nut f of the stuffing box. According to Fig. 2, the burner head a is conical at the bottom and rests against a likewise conical elastic one
 EMI1.1
as in Fig. 2 a gland nut f engages. By tightening the latter, the soapstone head a is pressed against the seal b and the latter is pressed against the supply pipe h again, creating the gas-tight connection between stone and metal.
