Process for the production of insulating, paper-containing layers of different dielectric constants.

The invention relates to a method for producing insulating layers of different dielectric constants for the purpose known per se, in inhomogeneous electric fields which are applied to the layers of higher dielectric constants. nth omitted partial voltages, whereby a saving in overall insulation is made possible if the order of the layer takes place according to decreasing dielectric constant in the direction of decreasing electrical field strength. The impregnated paper insulation of high-voltage cables and their connecting sleeves and terminations is a particularly important field of application of the invention.

We have found that the dielectric constant of paper soaked with insulating compound
 EMI1.1
Pressure or other pressing means is increased.

According to the invention, therefore, insulating, paper-containing layers of different dielectric constants are produced in such a way that the grading of the dielectric constant is achieved by corresponding grading of the density of the insulating paper produced by rolling under pressure or other pressing means.

The insulation of high-voltage cables, connection sleeves and terminations is made according to the invention in such a way that the closer the layer in question is to the conductor, the more the dielectric constant of the insulating paper is increased by increasing its density by rolling under pressure or other pressing means.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A process for the production of insulating, paper-containing layers-different dielectric constants, characterized in that the grading of the dielectric constant is achieved by grading the density of the insulating paper accordingly, produced by rolling under pressure or other pressing means.

   2. A method for the production of the insulation of high voltage cables, connection sleeves and terminations, characterized in that the dielectric constant of the insulating paper is increased by increasing its density by rolling under pressure or other pressing means, the closer the layer in question is to the conductor.
