Abstract
Dispositivo (10) destinado a la medición del espesor de una escoria (3) en la superficie de un metal líquido (4) que está contenido en una lingotera (2) comprende: un alambre (13) fabricado de material eléctricamente conductor y con la capacidad de ser eliminado bajo el efecto de calor a la temperatura de la escoria, donde el alambre (13) comprende un extremo libre (14) destinado a ser sumergido en la escoria (3); un medio para suministrar el alambre (13) que tiene la capacidad de desplazar el alambre (13) de modo que su extremo libre (14) se sumerge verticalmente en la escoria (3) de acuerdo con una trayectoria predeterminada; un medio de medición con la capacidad de medir una distancia recorrida por el extremo libre (14) del alambre (13) durante un intervalo de tiempo entre dos eventos predeterminados cuando el extremo libre es desplazado bajo la acción del medio de alimentación; y un medio para controlar dicho medio de alimentación donde el medio de control comprende un medio de detección con la capacidad de detectar el contacto entre el extremo libre (14) y la superficie del metal líquido (4).
