Abstract

Dispositivo automático para la medición del espesor de una escoria en la superficie de un metal líquido que está contenido en un recipiente metalúrgico, en donde el dispositivo comprende: un alambre fabricado de un material eléctricamente conductor y con la capacidad de ser eliminado bajo el efecto de calor a la temperatura de dicha escoria, donde el alambre comprende un extremo libre destinado a ser sumergido en dicha escoria, en donde dicho alambre está enrollado al menos parcialmente en un carrete instalado para girar libremente; un medio para suministrar el alambre para el carrete, que tiene la capacidad de desplazar el alambre de modo que su extremo libre se sumerge verticalmente en la escoria de acuerdo con una trayectoria predeterminada; un medio de medición con la capacidad de medir una distancia recorrida por el extremo libre del alambre durante un intervalo de tiempo entre dos eventos predeterminados cando el extremo libre es desplazado bajo la acción del medio de alimentación; y un medio para controlar dicho medio de alimentación donde el medio de control comprende un medio de detección con la capacidad de detectar el contacto entre el extremo libre y la superficie del metal líquido. Además, se tiene la máquina de colada y método para medir el espesor de una escoria.
