Abstract

Se describe un método y dispositivo para grabar bloques de información en un portador de grabación. El dispositivo posee medios de control 20 para grabar y recuperar datos de posición indicativos de la posición de los bloques de información grabados. Los medios de control incluyen una unidad de mapeo 31 para determinar en cual región se graba el bloque de información y una unidad de detección 32. La región es una de un número de regiones consecutivas constituyendo el área grabable. La unidad de mapeo graba una unidad de senal aleatoria en una ubicación de unidad en un área de mapeo. La ubicación de unidad indica dicha región, y la long de unidad de la unidad de senal aleatoria es menor que la long de dicho bloque de información. La unidad de detección 32 detecta la presencia de las unidades de senal aleatoria grabadas en dicha área de mapeo y así determina si una región contiene al menos un bloque de información. La mayor dirección escrita es encontrada mediante la detección de la ubicación de la mayor unidad escrita en el área de mapeo, y subsecuentemente buscar dicha región para la presencia de marcas grabadas.
