Abstract

Se presenta una composicion acuosa adecuada para utilizar, en seco, como revestimiento mejorado, que incluye un polímero en emulsion acuosa, polímero que tiene una temperatura de transicion vítrea (Tg) de más de 20 degree C a 80 degree C, y que está formado por la polimerizacion de radicales libres de por lo menos un monomero acrílico no ionico etilénicamente insaturado y 0-7,5% en peso sobre la base del peso total de dicho polímero, de monomero ácido etilénicamente insaturado, en presencia de 0,01-1,0% en peso sobre la base del peso total del polímero de hidroperoxido de t-alquilo, peroxido de t-alquilo o peréster de t-alquilo, donde el grupo t-alquilo incluye por lo menos 5 átomos de carbono y, optativamente, por lo menos un oxidante más. También se presenta un método para preparar el polímero en emulsion, un método para producir un sustrato revestido en el cual el revestimiento contiene el polímero en emulsion acuosa que tiene una Tg de -20 degree C a 80 degree C y un método para mejorar la resistencia a la abrasion de un revestimiento mediante la inclusion del polímero en emulsion con una Tg de -20 degree C a 80 degree C.
