Abstract
Una pila alcalina posee un ánodo que comprende zinc y un cátodo que comprende dioxido de manganeso donde el cátodo se dispone en forma anular a lo largo de la superficie interna de la carcasa de la pila y presenta una pluralidad de indentaciones en la cara interna de su superficie que miran hacia el interior de la pila. Cada indentacion posee una pared que define un canal con una abertura la cual preferentemente corre en la direccion de la longitud de la pila. El canal y la abertura miran hacia el interior de la pila que se llena de material anodico. La pila puede tener un colector de corriente de ánodo, típicamente de metal, con por lo menos una porcion de su superficie que se extiende hacia el interior del canal de indentacion del cátodo. El colector de corriente del ánodo puede tener una porcion de su superficie que se extienda desde un punto dentro del ánodo hacia el interior del canal de indentacion del cátodo por la mencionada abertura. La pila puede incluir un colector de corriente de cátodo que comprenda una lámina de material conductor como por ejemplo una lámina de metal o grafito dispuesta dentro del cátodo, particularmente dentro de las regiones gruesas del cátodo. El colector de corriente del cátodo puede ser utilizado en conjunto con un colector de corriente de ánodo en forma de punta convencional o combinado con los colectores de corriente de ánodo de superficie extendida de la presente. Tales pilas alcalinas exhiben un rendimiento mejorado, particularmente en aplicaciones de alto consumo.
