Abstract

Un miembro estructural de canal cerrado, tal como un larguero lateral o miembro cruzado, para uso en un montaje de carrocería y chasis de vehículo, incluyeuna estructura de refuerzo interna para incrementar la resistencia y rigidez del mismo. Porcion es del larguero lateral se retiran a fin de proveer una abertura. Esto se puede lograr formando dos pestanas que se pueden doblar hacia adentro dentro del larguero interno para formar la abertura. Un miembro de refuerzointerno y soporte combinados se encuentran montados al larguero lateral desplazando al mismo lateralmente tal que un par de paredes laterales y una paredsuperior se insertan a través de la abertura formada a través del larguero lateral hasta que lenguetas que se proveen sobre las prades laterales y la paredsuperior del miembro de refuerzo y soporte se apoyan sobre la superficie externa del larguero lateral. A continuacion, porciones del miembro de refuerzo ysoporte se aseguran al larguero lateral por soldadura. Una vez montad o con y asegurado al riel lateral, el miembro de refuerzo y soporte funcionan como unmiembro de doble funcion, proveyendo refuerzo estructural al larguero lateral y proveyendo simultáneamente un punto de montaje para un componente auxiliar delvehícul o, tal como un amortiguador, porcion de cuerpo, y similar. Si se desea, el miembro de refuerzo puede funcionar como un miembro de funcion unica,proveyendo unicamente refuerzo estructural para el larguero lateral.
