Abstract

Aparato y método para inspeccionar un envase (16) teniendo una boca abierta (14) y un fondo cerrado (24) espaciado de la boca de envase, mientras el envaseestá caliente de su fabricacion, incluye un sensor de luz (26) dispuesto con respecto alenvase para ver el fondo de envase a través de la boca del envase.Energía luminosa infrarroja emitida desde el fondo de envase que viaja a través de la boca del envase es dirigida al sensor de luz y el diámetro interior de laboca de envase es medidocomo u na funcion de la energía luminosa dirigida sobre el sensor. El sensor de luz preferentemente comprende un sensor de arreglo deárea (28) para desarrollar una imagen bidimensional de la boca del envase, y la energía de luz infrarroja esdirigida al sen sor por un arreglo de lentetelecéntrica (36). El sensor de arreglo de área está dispuesto adentro de una cámara que tiene una pupila de entrada (30) y el arreglo de la lente telecéntricatiene un foco en infinito dirigido hacia elfondo de envase y un segundo foco en la misma pupila de entrada de la cámara. El sensor de arreglo de área estáacoplado a electronica de procesamiento de imagen (38) para determinar o calcular un círculo del mayor diámetro (14c) que calzará dentrode la imagenbidimensio nal (Fig.2) de la boca del envase, y tratar dicho círculo como indicador del diámetro interior efectivo de la boca del envase.
