Abstract
Un método para el tratamiento superficial de un artículo polimérico, que comprende los pasos de: (a) sumergir un artículo polimérico en una primerasolucion que incluye un fotosensibilizante y cuando menos un solvente, durante un período de tiempo previamente determinado; (b) remover el artículo de laprimera solucion; (c) evaporar cuando menos una porcion del solvente del artículo; (d) colocar el artículo en una segunda solucion que contenga cuando menos unmacromero; y (e) aplicar radiacion al artículo durante un período suficiente para hacer que cuando menos una porcion de los monomeros o macromeros se enlacencon la superficie del artículo, en donde el macromero tiene un tamano suficientemente grande para que no penetre una cantidad sustancial de macromero en elartículo,ocasionando una distorsion sustancial en el artículo. Un método preferido incluye la fotoiniciacion de la superficie del artículo con una benzofenona,y el injerto de un macromero que tiene un peso molecular promedio ennumero mayor de 1000, en la presencia de irradiacion ultravioleta. El artículo poliméricoen volumen preferido es un hidrogel que contiene siloxano, especialmente un lente de contacto blando.
