Abstract
Un dispositivo para interconectar los extremos desnudos de dos o más fibras ópticas. Utiliza un receptáculo común que contiene un elemento sujetador defibra y superficies de leva para hacer funcionar el elemento, y al menos una clavija con un dedode leva para enganchar una de las superficies de leva. Lassuperficies de leva se colocan de forma que cuando una sola de ellas se haga funcionar, el elemento sujetador se vaya hacia un lado del bolsillo opuesto aesa superficie de leva sola y permanezca abierto, y que al hacer funcionar las dos superficies de leva el elemento sujetador se obligue a cerrar. La clavijaincluye un protector de la fibra que puede deslizarse libremente dentro del alojamiento de la clavija, y que aloja sustanccialmente el extremo desnudo de lafibra cuando el alojamiento de la clavija se saca del receptáculo, pero que se retrae cuando el alojamiento de la clavija se inserta en el receptáculo, paradirigir el extremo desnudo de la fibra hacia el mencionadotubo guía. Una boquilla para la fibra polariza el extremo terminal de la fibra hacia elextremo frontal de la clavija, colocando una precarga sobre el extremo desnudo de la fibra. El receptáculo preferiblemente emplea un novedoso elementosujettador con dos placas que contienen superficies en contacto con la fibra y al menos una de cuyas superficies tiene una ranura para recibir la fibra. Losbordes de las placas están alineados y se mantienen juntos con un resorte de tubo dividido. Almenos una de las placas se provee de una ranura receptora dealambre, y de un alambre en ella, que actúa como punto de apoyo para que las placas puedan pivotar sobre un eje definido por el alambre. El resorte de tubodividido ofrece una carga preciisamente controlada a lo largo de los bordes de las placas, permitiendo que se prensen los extremos opuestos (dentro del tubo
