Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to reproduce pictures of high quality all the time by improving color resolution by performing high-frequency compensation of a color signal only when color saturation increases above a fixed value. CONSTITUTION:Demodulated color difference signal (R-Y)N supplied to terminal 1 is supplied to LPF2 to extract low-frequency color difference signal (R-Y)L. Further, luminance signal YW supplied to terminal 3 is supplied to LPF4 to extract only low-frequency luminance signal YL, which is supplied together with signal (R-Y)L to divider 5, which obtains their ratio (R-Y)L/YL. Togeher with high- frequency luminance signal YH obtained by HPF6, the ratio output is supplied to multiplier 7 to find product (R-Y)H of the both. The output of this product is mixed into signal (R-Y)L by synthesizer 8 to obtain composite output (R-Y)W, so that the frequency band of a color difference signal of red appears to be widened. In this case, forming circuit 20 for a switching signal turns ON switch circuit 10 when color saturation is above a fixed value, providing high-frequency compensation.
