Abstract

PURPOSE: To obatin the chroma component signal by providing the circuit which gives the operation to the chroma component signal containing no high frequency component and the high frequency luminance signal plus the circuit which adds the high frequency component, thus ensuring the extremely good color resolution and color transient characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: The red color difference signal RL-YL to be applied to input terminal 1R plus signal YL which enters input terminal 1Y and then passes through delay element 10 and LPF4 become the input of adder circuit 6R to obtain output RL. Output signals YL and YH of LPF4 and HPF5 each are supplied to divider circuit 9 to obtain division output YH/YL which is then supplied to multiplier circuit 7 along with RL to obtain output RH=(YH/YR)×RL. These output RH and RL are supplied to adder circuit 8R to obtain RL+RH at output terminal 2R. In the same way, output GL+GH and BL+BH are obtained at output terminals 2G and 2B respectively. These output, however, are not always faithful to the original picture, but a high-resolution screen can be secured not only for the luminance signal but for the color signal.
