Abstract

1491217 Two-part couplings AMP Inc 29 April 1975 [9 May 1974] 20457/74 Heading H2E An electrical connector housing comprises a body 1 of insulating material having one or more contact cavities 2 each formed with a protuberance 6 on a resilient wall portion 5 and a locking member 9 engagable with the body to lock contact members such as 15 in the cavities by preventing outward deformation of the wall. The locking member may be formed with a resilient latch 13 to hold it in place. Such a housing may be fitted with plug or socket contacts and a pair of housings thus fitted may co-operate to form a two-part connector and may further have a latching mechanism to hold the housings together a shroud to prevent entry of dust.
