Abstract

1,241,157. Two-part couplings. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 19 Feb., 1970 [17 March, 1969], No. 8003/70. Heading H2E. Plug and socket contacts 13, 12 in housings 10, 11 are each provided with a circular recess 16 or 14 and are received in apertures 18, 17 which are arranged with adjacent flexible walls 33 each associated with a locating tab 39 which engages the recess of the contact such that after engagement a locking bar 41 is inserted transversely into the space 37 between flexing walls 33 restricting the flexing of the walls and disengagement of the contact. The locking bar is located by projections which engage a surface 42. In a further embodiment the locating tab 39 may be positioned on the wall opposite the flexing wall 33. In a further embodiment(Figs. 5-8, not shown) the locking bar is inserted longitudinally into the contact housing and retained by a detent.
