Abstract

937,008. Two-part couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. Nov. 28, 1961 [Dec. 1, 1960], No. 42421/61. Class 38 (1). A terminal block assembly (Fig. 10) comprises a one-piece insulating housing 101 having a longitudinal connector receiving bore therein with a transverse first opening 111 disposed intermediate a side wall of the bore having a detachable one-piece connector 102 disposed therein, the overall longitudinal length of the connector being greater than the overall longitudinal length of the opening 111 and the bore and the connector having mating portions 115 and 113, respectively, interlocking to prevent longitudinal movement therebetween. In another embodiment (Fig. 1) the connector receiving bores are laterally disposed in the housing and each connector 2 is formed with a pair of socket portions 3. Both types of connector may be in strip form interconnected by a conductive webbing. The housings 1 and 101 may be interconnected by a mutual interlock (Fig. 6, not shown), comprising a pin with shoulders formed by opposed chord flats mating with a socket formed with two detents, to form a unitary structure. The housings may be disposed in a standard channel (Fig. 2, not shown) being retained therein by the use of endcaps (Figs. 15 and 16, not shown), two types of which are described, wedging legs on the housings against the inturned channel walls. The moulding operation to form the " interlock " pin and socket for the blocks is described (Fig. 4, not shown).
