Definitions
- the present invention relates to vehicle window glass and a vehicle.
- Patent Document 1 shows an example of applying a pattern to a vehicle window glass for decorative purposes.
- Patent Document 1 describes, for example, that striped patterns can be formed by spraying a metal compound onto the surface layer of the glass plate using a spray or other method.
- the striped pattern described in Patent Document 1 is a pattern in which multiple lines are arranged at regular intervals horizontally on the surface of the window glass. If the spacing between the lines in the striped pattern described in Patent Document 1 were narrowed to emphasize design, the visibility of obstacles, such as pedestrians, bicycles, and automobiles, would be reduced for the driver.
- the present invention was made in consideration of the above-mentioned circumstances, and aims to provide a vehicle window glass and vehicle that improves the vehicle's design and the visibility of obstacles.
- the vehicle window glass of the present invention has a striped pattern formed on the surface of the vehicle window glass, and the striped pattern comprises a plurality of lines arranged parallel to each other and inclined relative to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
- the present invention makes it possible to provide a vehicle window glass and vehicle that improves the vehicle's design and the visibility of obstacles.
- FIG. 10 is a diagram showing a vehicle window glass of Comparative Example 2.

- 1 is a diagram showing a part of the interior of a vehicle to which a vehicle window glass according to a first embodiment is applied;
- FIG. 10 is a diagram showing a part of the interior of a vehicle to which a vehicle window glass according to a second embodiment is applied.
- FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating a relationship between a vehicle and an object according to a second embodiment.

- FIG. 10 is a diagram showing a part of the interior of a vehicle to which a vehicle window glass according to a fourth embodiment is applied.
- FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating a relationship between a vehicle and an object according to a fourth embodiment.
- the vehicle window glass according to this embodiment has a striped pattern with multiple lines arranged parallel to one another, and the striped pattern is inclined in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle.
- a striped pattern is generally made up of multiple lines that are arranged parallel to one another at equal intervals.
- the stripes 50 are arranged perpendicular to the direction in which the object 30 moves.
- the object 30 refers to the object that the viewer sees. Therefore, the stripe pattern 50 of Comparative Example 1 hides the area of the object 30 that extends in the vertical direction. For this reason, in Comparative Example 1, the object 30 is hidden by the first line portion 50a of the passing stripe pattern 50, which delays the viewer's recognition of the object 30.
- the line portion 4a is arranged diagonally, while in the stripe pattern 140 of Comparative Example 2, the line portion 140a is arranged horizontally. Therefore, even if the object is hidden by the stripes 4 and 140, the viewer can see the object between the adjacent line portions 4a and 140a. This allows the viewer to quickly recognize the object.
- Figure 1A shows the movement of the driver's line of sight in the window glass of the embodiment.
- the window glass 1 through which the driver views has a striped pattern 4, which includes multiple line portions 4a.
- the direction in which the driver's line of sight moves on this window glass 1 is indicated by arrow 5A.
- the spacing between the line portions 4a along the direction of line movement is indicated by symbol L1.
- Figure 1C shows the direction in which the driver's line of sight moves in the window glass 100 of comparative example 2.
- the window glass 100 through which the driver views has a striped pattern 140, which includes multiple line portions 140a.
- the direction in which the driver's line of sight moves on this window glass 100 is indicated by arrow 5B.
- the spacing between the line portions 140a along the direction of line movement is indicated by symbol L2.
- the vehicle window glass according to this embodiment improves design by reducing the spacing between the diagonally formed stripes, while also ensuring visibility of objects.
- FIG. 2 shows a top view of a vehicle 10 in which the vehicle window glass is used.
- the vehicle 10 is, for example, an EV (Electric Vehicle), a PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a HV (Hybrid Vehicle), a gasoline vehicle, or a diesel vehicle.
- the vehicle 10 may also be a train or steam locomotive.
- the vehicle 10 is an example of a moving body that transports passengers.
- a first side window 22 is attached between the A pillar 13 and B pillar 14 of the first side portion 10a
- a second side window 23 is attached between the B pillar 14 and C pillar 15,
- a third side window 24 is attached between the C pillar 15 and D pillar 16.
- a first side window 22, a second side window 23, and a third side window 24 are attached between each pillar of the second side portion 10b.
- the window glass 1 comprises a frame 2, a glass plate 3 fitted into the frame 2, and a striped pattern 4 formed on the surface of the glass plate 3.
- the frame 2 also known as a molding, is made of rubber, synthetic resin, metal, etc.
- the glass plate 3 is made of tempered glass.
- the striped pattern 4 is formed by spraying or printing a paste-like metal or resin material onto the surface of the glass plate 3.
- the striped pattern 4 is a pattern in which multiple lines 4a are arranged parallel to each other at equal intervals.
- “equally spaced” does not have to mean exactly the same intervals.
- “parallel” does not have to mean exactly parallel, as long as adjacent lines 4a are arranged at an angle of 0 to 30 degrees from each other.
- the thickness of the lines 4a of the striped pattern 4 is greater than 0 mm and less than 10 mm, but is not limited to this numerical value and the width of the lines 4a can be determined taking into consideration the design.
- the multiple lines 4a are arranged on the window glass 1 located on the side of the vehicle 10, inclined in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 10. In this embodiment, simulations have confirmed that arranging the multiple lines 4a so that they intersect the driver's line of sight at approximately a right angle improves the visibility of obstacles.
- the multiple line portions 4a of the striped pattern 4 are positioned with their upper portions inclined toward the front of the vehicle 10. Use of this striped pattern 4 improves the driver's visibility of objects while driving forward. Specifically, when the driver is driving forward, the driver's line of sight moves from front to back and bottom to top as the driver turns around, as shown by arrow 5C in Figure 3B. Because the upper portions of the multiple line portions 4a are inclined toward the front of the vehicle 10, the multiple line portions 4a can be positioned approximately perpendicular to the driver's line of sight. This relationship between the line of sight and the position of the line portions 4a improves the visibility of objects such as obstacles.
- the window glass 1 is applied to the third side window 24 between the C-pillar 15 and the D-pillar 16, as shown in FIG. 4A.
- the upper portions of the multiple line portions 4b of the striped pattern 4 are inclined toward the rear of the vehicle 10.
- the driver's line of sight moves from front to back and from top to bottom, as shown by arrow 5D in FIG. 4A.
- Objects behind the vehicle 10 as seen by the driver appear to move to the driver in the order of object positions 30a, 30b, and 30c, as shown by arrow 5E in FIG. 4B.
- the striped pattern 4 is formed on the entire surface of the vehicle window glass.
- the striped pattern 4 may be formed on only a part of the vehicle window glass, rather than on the entire surface.
- tinted film is applied to the side windows of automobiles to block sunlight and ultraviolet rays from entering the interior of the vehicle or to protect privacy inside the vehicle.
- the side windows are sometimes tinted the same color as the body of the vehicle or have patterns added to them.
- tinting or adding patterns to the entire side window reduces visibility for the driver.
- FIG. 5A shows a portion of the interior of a vehicle 10 with stripes in the lower region of the third side window 24, and FIG. 5B shows the relative positions of the vehicle 10 and an object.
- the upper region 24a of the third side window 24 at the rear of the vehicle 10 is colored the same color as the vehicle body, and stripes 4 are formed in the lower region 24b.
- the stripes 4 have a pattern in which the upper portions of multiple lines 4c are inclined toward the front of the vehicle 10. Forming stripes 4 in the lower region 24b can improve the visibility of low objects in particular.
- FIG. 5B shows a state in which a low object moves from position 30a to 30b and then to 30c.
- the third side glass 24 by applying a pattern or color to the upper region 24a of the third side glass 24 and forming a striped pattern 4 in the lower region 24b, it is possible to provide a vehicle window glass that improves design and visibility of objects. Furthermore, by applying a color or pattern to the upper region 24a, the third side glass 24 is given the function of catching light, making the interior of the vehicle brighter than when a body panel is applied to the upper region 24a.
- This embodiment provides a vehicle window glass with a striped pattern that combines the advantages of embodiments 1 to 3 by changing the spacing between the multiple line portions 4a in the upper and lower regions of the vehicle window glass.
- Figure 6A shows a portion of the interior of a vehicle 10 equipped with a third side window 24 in which the spacing between the lines of the striped pattern 4 is changed between the upper region 24a and the lower region 24b
- Figure 6B shows the positional relationship between the vehicle 10 and an object.
- a striped pattern 4 having a plurality of lines 4d is formed in the upper region 24a of the third side window 24.
- the plurality of lines 4d cause the visible and invisible regions of an object to alternate. The alternation of the visible and invisible regions improves the visibility of the object.
- a striped pattern 4 having a plurality of lines 4e is also formed in the lower region 24.
- the plurality of lines 4d, 4e of the striped pattern 4 are patterned so that their upper portions are inclined toward the front of the vehicle 10.
- the spacing between the plurality of lines 4e is narrower than the spacing between the plurality of lines 4d in the upper region 24a.
- the spacing between the lines 4e of the striped pattern 4 in the lower region 24b is closer than the spacing between the lines 4d of the striped pattern 4 in the upper region 24a. Because the striped pattern 4 in the lower region 24b is denser, the speed at which the visible and invisible regions of an object alternate in the lower region 24b is faster than the speed at which the spacing changes in the upper region 24a. Therefore, the image resolution in the lower region 24b is higher than the image resolution in the upper region 24a, and the visibility of objects in the lower region 24b is higher than that of objects in the upper region 24a. Therefore, the visibility of low-height objects can be improved in the lower region 24b.
- Figure 6A shows a cyclist at object position 30b. Because object position 30b is in the vignetting area, it cannot be seen by the driver of the vehicle 10. However, because striped pattern 4 is formed in the lower region 24b, the driver can clearly see the object at object position 30c close to the vehicle 10.
- Figure 6A shows a cyclist at object position 30c. The driver can see the object through striped pattern 4e formed in the lower region of the third side window 24.
- stripes 4 are applied to the upper and lower regions 24a and 24b of the third side window 24, and the spacing between the multiple line portions 4d in the lower region 24b is narrower than the spacing between the multiple line portions 4e in the upper region 24a. This improves visibility in both the upper and lower regions 24a and 24b, while further improving visibility of low-height objects in the lower region 24b.
- the third side window 24 was used as an example of the window glass on which the striped pattern 4 is applied, but the striped pattern 4 may also be applied to the first side window 22 and the second side window 23.
- the striped pattern 4 may be applied to all side windows, or to just one side window. This can be selected appropriately depending on the vehicle's design and the required visibility.
- Example 1 the upper part of the stripes 4 is inclined forward, and in Example 2, the upper part of the stripes 4 is inclined backward.
- the direction of the inclination can be selected appropriately depending on the visibility and design of the object 30.
- the stripes 4 may be placed on multiple side windows, and the direction of the inclination of the stripes 4 may be changed depending on the position of the side window.
- Example 4 it was explained that the upper part of the line portion 4a of the striped pattern 4 is inclined toward the front of the vehicle, but the direction of the inclination may be reversed. Also, in Example 4, it was explained that the inclination direction of the line portions 4d, 4e of the upper region 24a and the lower region 24b is the same, but they may be inclined in different directions.
- the window glass 1 was described as glass located on the side of the vehicle 10. However, stripes may also be applied to part of the windshield or rear window.
- Example 1 it was explained that the multiple line portions 4a intersect with the driver's line of sight at approximately right angles.
- the intersecting angle is not limited to approximately right angles, and may be between 60 degrees and 120 degrees. The intersecting angle is determined within this range, taking into consideration design.

Abstract
Description
ここで車両10とは、例えば、EV(Electric Vehicle)車、PHEV(Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle)車、HV(Hybrid Vehicle)車、ガソリン車、又はディーゼル車等の自動車である。
