Definitions
- Air conditioners used for indoor heating, cooling, and dehumidification are equipped with mesh filters that capture dust. These filters have poor performance in capturing fine particles such as PM2.5 and airborne viruses, and in purifying the air that is drawn in. For this reason, when used in a sealed room, the repeated intake and exhaust of air by the air conditioner spreads airborne viruses, bacteria, dust, etc. throughout the room, which is unhygienic. Furthermore, bacteria that adhere to the air conditioner itself can multiply, leading to odors and dirt.
- Patent Document 1 describes a method of purifying the air by attaching a pleated air purification filter inserted into a resin case to the front side of the air conditioner's intake grille.
- Patent Document 2 also describes an air conditioner intake purification system in which an external unit equipped with a high-performance filter and suction motor is attached to the air conditioner body, and the air is purified by drawing in purified air into the air conditioner.
- the air purification filter is installed with a surface area that is significantly smaller than the surface area of the intake grille, meaning that most of the air drawn into the air conditioner is unable to pass through the air purification filter, resulting in a low air purification effect.
- Patent Document 2 requires the installation of an external air purifier unit, which is costly. Furthermore, if a filter is directly mounted on the intake grill of the air conditioner body, the intake air volume decreases, which creates the problem of reducing the air conditioner's inherent heating and cooling capabilities.
- the present invention solves the above-mentioned problems by providing an electrically charged nonwoven fabric filter material and air filter unit for use in residential room air conditioners. Because the filter material and air filter unit exhibit excellent QF values, even when installed in the air conditioner's intake port, there is little reduction in intake air volume and the unit exhibits high air purification capabilities.
- the charged nonwoven fabric filtering material of the present invention and the air filter unit including the same have the following features.
- An electrically charged nonwoven fabric filter medium characterized in that the QF value at a wind speed of 6.5 m/min is 0.10 Pa ⁇ 1 or more, and the QF value/filter medium thickness is 0.18 Pa ⁇ 1 /mm or more.
- the charged nonwoven fabric filter medium according to (1) characterized in that it has at least a charged nonwoven fabric layer and a support layer.
- An air filter unit having a pleated filter material in which the charged nonwoven fabric filter material according to any one of (1) to (3) is pleated, and a frame, wherein the thickness of the air filter unit is 20 mm or less, the fold height/pleat spacing of the pleated filter material is 3.0 to 10.0, and the QF value when the air speed at the filter opening is 1.1 m/s is 0.10 Pa or more.
- the air filter unit according to (4) which is mounted on a home room air conditioner.
- the air filter unit according to (5) which is intended to be mounted on the air intake of a residential room air conditioner.
- the charged nonwoven fabric filter material and air filter unit of the present invention exhibit excellent QF values, so even when installed in the intake port of a household room air conditioner, there is little reduction in intake air volume (pressure loss), and they are able to demonstrate high air purification capabilities.
- FIG 1 is a perspective view of the air conditioner 1 body used in an embodiment of the present invention.
- the air conditioner 1 body has a surface with an air intake port 42 (hereinafter referred to as the "air intake surface 41"), a surface with an air discharge port 44 (hereinafter referred to as the air discharge surface 43), and an internal fan.
- Figure 4 is a schematic diagram of the air filter unit in Figure 3, viewed from the direction of arrow p.
- the filter is formed by adhering a separator 52 to pleated filter material 51, and the filter is then integrated with a frame 53 placed around it.
- Cross section X shows the cross section of the pleated filter material at the point where the separator 52 is adhered to the filter material 51.
- Figure 5 is a schematic longitudinal cross-sectional view of the filter with a separator attached, taken along the X section of Figure 4.
- the separator 52 is fixed perpendicular to the ridges of the pleated filter media 51.
- the charged nonwoven fabric filter medium of the present invention has a QF value of 0.10 Pa ⁇ 1 or more at an air velocity of 6.5 m/min, and a QF value/filter medium thickness of 0.18 Pa ⁇ 1 /mm or more.
- the QF value is an index of filtration performance, and is calculated by the following formula (1) using the collection efficiency ⁇ and the pressure loss P.
- the charged nonwoven fabric filter material of the present invention preferably has a QF value of 0.11 Pa -1 or more at an air speed of 6.5 m/min. If the QF value of the charged nonwoven fabric filter material is less than 0.10 Pa -1 , when the charged nonwoven fabric filter material is installed in the main body of an air conditioner to purify the air, the filtration performance and dust collection performance will be low.
- the material of the charged nonwoven fabric used in the charged nonwoven fabric layer examples include polypropylene fibers, polyester fibers (PET fibers, etc.), vinylon fibers, polyamide fibers, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers, polyaramid fibers, carbon fibers, glass fibers, and metal fibers.
- the structure of the charged nonwoven fabric is not particularly limited, but spunbond nonwoven fabric, needle-punched nonwoven fabric, melt-blown nonwoven fabric, etc. can be used. To achieve a high QF value, melt-blown nonwoven fabric is preferred. To achieve even higher collection performance, melt-blown nonwoven fabric made from polypropylene fibers is preferred. Furthermore, the above nonwoven fabric can be subjected to electret processing to produce a charged nonwoven fabric.
- the electret processing method is not particularly limited, and can be selected from a variety of charging methods for the nonwoven fabric, including corona discharge, pure water suction, friction charging, and water spray.
- Nonwoven fabrics that undergo electret processing may contain additives to improve the charging effect of the electret processing.
- additives There are various types of additives available, but hindered amine and triazine additives are particularly preferred as they help maintain static electricity.
- the charged nonwoven fabric may also contain a functional agent.
- a functional agent There are no particular restrictions on the functional agent, but examples that can be used include activated carbon, silica gel, zeolite, gas-adsorbing porous materials, antibacterial agents, antifungal agents, antiviral agents, antiallergens, and fragrances.
- the functional agent may be attached to the filter material or incorporated into the fibers, or in the case of a laminate of two or more layers, it may be sandwiched between the layers.
- the basis weight of the charged nonwoven fabric is not particularly limited, but is preferably 5 g/m 2 to 500 g/m 2 , more preferably 8 g/m 2 or more, and even more preferably 10 g/m 2 to 300 g/m 2. If it is 5 g/m 2 or more, the collection performance of the filter medium can be fully exhibited, and if it is 500 g/m 2 or less, the thickness of the filter medium becomes more appropriate and an increase in pressure loss due to the structure of the pleated filter medium can be suppressed.
- the support layer can be made of thermally bonded nonwoven fabric, chemically bonded nonwoven fabric, needle-punched nonwoven fabric, spunbonded nonwoven fabric, etc. Chemically bonded nonwoven fabric is preferred from the standpoint of filter material thickness and pleating processability.
- the bending resistance of the support layer is preferably 1300 ⁇ N or more, and more preferably 1500 ⁇ N or more. If it is 1300 ⁇ N or more, an increase in pressure loss due to the structure can be suppressed when it is made into an air filter unit. Furthermore, if it is 1300 ⁇ N or more, the thickness of the support layer can be made smaller, which allows for a smaller filter medium thickness and a higher QF value/filter medium thickness ratio.
- the air filter unit of the present invention is an air filter unit comprising a pleated filter material in which the charged nonwoven fabric filter material of the present invention is pleated, and a frame, characterized in that the thickness of the air filter unit is 20 mm or less, the fold height/pleat spacing of the pleated filter material is 3.0 to 10.0, and the QF value when the air speed at the filter opening is 1.1 m/s is 0.10 Pa or more.
- the air filter unit of the present invention is composed of pleated filter material that has been folded in a zigzag pattern, and a frame that supports the filter material.
- the frame is not particularly limited, but from the perspective of ease of handling, it is preferable that the frame be formed from nonwoven fabric.
- the frame be attached to two sides, one on the left and one on the right, relative to the folding direction, or to four sides, one on the left, one on the front, one on the back, and one on the back of the folding direction, as shown in Figure 4.
- the thickness of the air filter unit must be 20 mm or less. If the thickness of the air filter unit exceeds 20 mm, it will be difficult to install it in the internal space of the air conditioner unit.
- the pleat shape is expressed as ⁇ / ⁇ , where ⁇ is the fold height in Figure 5 and ⁇ is the pleat pitch in Figure 5.
- ⁇ / ⁇ is between 3.0 and 10.0, preferably between 4.0 and 10.0. If the pleat shape ⁇ / ⁇ exceeds 10.0, the filter media within the unit will overlap or be too close to each other, increasing structural pressure loss in the air filter unit. This will reduce the intake air volume when the unit is installed in an air conditioner, resulting in poor dust collection performance. If the pleat shape ⁇ / ⁇ is less than 3.0, the usable filtration area within the limited unit size will be small, and the fluid passage speed relative to the filtration area will increase, resulting in poor removal and collection performance of substances from the fluid. This will result in poor dust collection performance when the air filter unit is installed in an air conditioner.
- the process of folding filter material into a zigzag shape is called pleating, and there are various pleating methods, such as the reciprocating method and the rotary method, and either method is acceptable.
- the shape of the pleated filter material is not particularly limited, but the distance between adjacent mountain folds and valley folds, i.e., the fold height, can be adjusted as desired.
- separators may be attached in a roughly linear fashion, intersecting the ridges of the pleated filter media.
- the separator is preferably made of resin, and more preferably a thermoplastic resin.
- Thermoplastic resins can be selected from olefin-based resins and ethylene vinyl acetate-based resins. Olefin-based resins are particularly preferred as they have moderately slow crystallization, excellent workability, high bonding strength, and little unpleasant odor.
- separators can be attached by placing molten resin on the peaks of pre-pleated filter media, folding the filter media while it is not completely solidified and still bondable, bringing the resin into contact with the surrounding material, and then cooling the media while maintaining the folded shape to solidify the resin.
- separators can be attached by attaching a frame to the pleated filter media and then applying molten resin to the peaks of the pleated filter media, or by spraying molten resin in a linear pattern onto a metal plate with high releasability and then transferring it to the peaks of the pleated filter media.
- Separators may be attached continuously, as shown in Figure 4, or discontinuously.
- the air filter unit of the present invention has a QF value of 0.10 Pa -1 or more, preferably 0.12 Pa -1 or more, when the air velocity at the filter opening is 1.1 m/s. If the QF value of the air filter unit is less than 0.10 Pa -1 , the dust collection performance will be reduced when the unit is installed in an air conditioner body and used for air purification.
- the filter opening refers to the surface facing the peaks of the pleated filter material.
- the air filter unit of the present invention is preferably for installation in a residential room air conditioner. It is even more preferable for installation in the air conditioner intake of a residential room air conditioner.
- Some home room air conditioners are equipped with a mesh filter at the air intake to remove dust.
- the air filter unit of the present invention can be installed either upstream or downstream of the mesh filter. Installing it upstream of the mesh filter makes filter replacement easier. On the other hand, installing it downstream of the mesh filter makes it less likely to clog because dust has been removed in advance.
- the air filter unit of the present invention can be set to any size that can be attached to the air intake of a residential room air conditioner. If the coverage rate is the ratio of the air intake area to the air filter opening area, a high coverage rate will improve dust collection performance in one pass, but will reduce the suction air volume and reduce the original heating and cooling capacity. If the coverage rate is too low, the reduction in suction air volume can be prevented, but the filtration performance of the air filter unit will be less likely to be realized.

Abstract
Description

式(1) QF値=-[ln(1-[η/100]/P)]
式(1) QF値=-[ln(1-[η/100]/P)]
