Description

Titre de l’invention : Agencement comprenant une caméra en zone avant du toit d’un véhicule automobile Title of the invention: Arrangement comprising a camera in the front area of the roof of a motor vehicle
The invention relates to camera installations arranged in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle and which must scan the eyes of the driver of the vehicle. The use of cameras to monitor whether drivers fall asleep at the wheel is becoming more and more common. To this end, such a camera must make it possible to detect the first ocular signs of falling asleep, and therefore be able to scan the driver's eyes constantly. The camera must be able to do this scanning for drivers of different sizes, and therefore also for different front-to-back positions of the driver's seat.
A camera scanning both eyes can also potentially be used for other purposes such as taking selfies.
Patent application CN107379935 discloses a sun visor comprising a camera which is fixed on a support placed on an upper and lateral part of the sun visor plate in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle.
The installation of the camera is not particularly studied in relation to a problem of scanning the driver's eyes, especially since the camera is hidden when the plate is folded towards the ceiling of the vehicle's passenger compartment. There is a need to propose an arrangement for a camera of an anti-sleep system, which must respect an effective scanning of the driver's eyes, in particular for safety purposes by detecting the first ocular signs of the driver falling asleep at the wheel, Day and night. For this purpose, the invention provides an arrangement comprising a camera, capable of scanning the eyes of a person seated on a seat, in particular of a driver, in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle. Said arrangement, in an area facing the seat in question, comprises a sun visor comprising a plate, two lateral supports of said plate, and two lateral axes of rotation secured to the plate and connecting said plate and respectively said lateral supports, the plate being mobile in rotation between a folded position and an deployed position relative to a fictitious axis of rotation passing through said two lateral axes of rotation. Said sun visor plate comprises a notch located between the two lateral supports of the plate, and said camera being installed in a through hole in the interior trim of the roof, in the front area of the roof and at the front of said notch.
The term “front roof area” means an area of the roof proximal to the top of the windshield and which includes the roof structure as well as the interior trim of the roof. Advantageously, said notch is located between the two lateral axes of rotation and comprises a part of the fictitious axis of rotation of the plate, this part being outside the two lateral axes of rotation. In particular, said lateral supports of said plate are fixed in the interior trim of the roof.
In particular, said camera is installed in the area of the front cross member of the roof (proximal to the top of the windshield).
In particular, the camera is oriented obliquely in the longitudinal axis of the seat in question, in particular towards the driver's seat.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the camera is oriented, in a longitudinal direction, towards the head of a mannequin seated (actually or virtually) on the seat considered, and said seat being positioned at 50% of its travel of longitudinal translation.
According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the camera is fixed by means of pinching the interior roof trim. In particular, said means for pinching the interior roof trim comprise a trim applied to the face of the interior roof trim on the interior side of the passenger compartment, and a support for the trim disposed between the roof structure and the face of the roof. said trim on the side of the roof structure. In particular, said hubcap supports said camera. Preferably it surrounds at least the visible side (in the passenger compartment) of the camera.
According to another particular embodiment of the invention, the camera is fixed directly to the front crossbar of the roof.
Preferably, said camera is a camera of an anti-sleep system, capable of detecting ocular signs of falling asleep of a person, in particular of the driver of the vehicle. Said camera can also be part of a selfie-taking system.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising, in its passenger compartment, an arrangement comprising a camera capable of scanning the eyes of a person, in particular of the driver of the vehicle, seated on a seat facing a sun visor, such as as described previously.

Said plate is movable in rotation around a fictitious transverse axis 500 passing through said first and second lateral axes of rotation 510, 520, between the deployed position 50' and the folded position 50” (Fig. 2 or Fig. 3). Said lateral supports 51, 52 are fixed in the interior trim 3 of the roof.
De manière connue, la plaque 50 du pare-soleil peut être manœuvrée vers la vitre latérale gauche du véhicule en désolidarisant le deuxième axe 520 du support droit 52, et en la faisant pivoter vers la vitre autour de l’axe de rotation gauche 510.In known manner, the plate 50 of the sun visor can be maneuvered towards the left side window of the vehicle by separating the second axis 520 from the right support 52, and by rotating it towards the window around the left axis of rotation 510.
Cette implantation de la caméra présente l’avantage de pouvoir conserver l’implantation d’origine du pare- soleil sans échancrure (Fig. 4).According to the invention, with reference to Figures 1 to 3, the camera 40 is arranged at the front (direction folded down 50” retracting it towards the ceiling of the passenger compartment, in other words towards the interior roof trim 3, or in the deployed position 50'. The notch 53 is located between the two side supports 51, 52 of the plate 50 of the sun visor. It passes over the fictitious axis of rotation 500 of the plate 50, outside the two lateral axes of rotation 510, 520. This location of the camera has the advantage of being able to retain the original location of the sun visor without an indentation (Fig. 4).
The notch 53 is more or less centered so that the camera 40 is oriented obliquely towards the driver's seat, in the longitudinal axis (X direction) of the seat, for a driver seated on the driver's seat . By default, the camera is oriented, in a longitudinal direction (direction explained further with reference to Figure 3.
The camera 40 can thus scan the eyes of a driver whether the sun visor plate is in the deployed position 50', vertically in the passenger compartment, or in the folded position 50", the camera lens always being positioned at the front of the notch 53 of the plate 50.
According to the embodiment illustrated by Figures 1 to 3, the camera 40 is fixed by pinching the (inner) trim 3 of the roof 1, at the front of the notch 53 of the sun visor. The camera 40 is arranged at the level of a through hole 30 made in the trim 3 of the roof 1, and where it is supported by a hubcap 41. This trim 41 surrounds the camera 40 along the passenger compartment side face (interior side) of the interior roof trim 3. The trim 41 is itself attached to a support 42 placed on the roof side face of the trim 3, it that is to say between the roof structure and the trim 3. The trim 3 is therefore pinched between the hubcap 41 and the support 42 of the hubcap. The support 42 of the hubcap is more particularly located at the level of the front crosspiece 16 of the roof 1 which is proximal to the upper edge of the windshield 2.
According to a particular embodiment not illustrated by a figure, the camera 40 can be fixed according to another method of fixing, in particular by fixing it directly to the front cross member 16 of the roof, therefore without pinching the headliner 3. It is known to carry out tests of the effectiveness of a sun visor of a motor vehicle by actually or virtually installing a mannequin seated on the driver's seat facing the sun visor, for a given driver's seat slide position, a medium-sized dummy corresponding to a seat slide position of 50%, and complementary driver's seat slide positions of 5% for a small-sized dummy and 95% for a tall-sized dummy. At 5% the seat is very forward and at 95% the seat is very far back, 50% corresponding to the middle longitudinal position of the seat defining the nominal position, in other words the reference position. The position of the seat slides corresponds to the position of the seat according to its longitudinal translation travel.
[Fig. 3] schematically illustrates, following a longitudinal section at the level of the notch 53 of the sun visor, the results of such tests with the position of mannequins in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle comprising the arrangement of the camera and the sun visor in the front area of the roof illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 according to the invention.
[Fig. 4] shows the results of such tests for a sun visor with a plate in the deployed position 5a or folded down 5b, similar to that 5, 50', 50” represented in Figures 1 to 3, but without notch 53, and in the same passenger compartment as previously but without installation of a camera for an anti-sleep system, and following a longitudinal section in a location on the plate which would correspond to the location of the notch. This figure 4 will be commented on at the same time and for comparison with figure 3.
In Fig. 3 or Fig. 4, are shown the respective profile heads of mannequins placed on the driver's seat for a given driver's seat slide position. A head is represented respectively for a mannequin 6 placed at a position at 5% (advanced longitudinal position), for a mannequin 7 placed at the nominal position of 50% (middle longitudinal position), and a mannequin 8 placed at a position at 95 % (reared longitudinal position). Also shown are the high vision line 10 for mannequin 7 at 50% and the high vision line 11 for mannequin 8 at 95%. Also shown is the upper limit of sunshine 9 which passes under the lower edge of the plate 50 of the sun visor in the deployed position 50' vertically and through the eye of the mannequin 7 at the nominal position (50%), this limit 9 defining the low vision limit 9. By comparison with Figure 4, where the sun visor comprises a plate 5a, 5b without indentation, the installation of the camera 40 according to the arrangement of the invention, makes it possible to respect the vision limits between the upper vision limit 11 with the plate 50 in the folded position 50” and the lower vision limit 9 with the plate 50 in the deployed position 50’ vertically (Fig. 3).
According to the invention, whether the sun visor is with a plate in the deployed or folded position, the camera has constant access to the driver's eyes to make it possible to detect ocular signs of the driver falling asleep.
