Definitions
- the present invention relates to an apparatus for washing, cleansing, the disinfection/sterilization and drying of endoscopes and relates to an apparatus for the internal and external treatment of endoscopes.
- endoscopes require frequent washing and disinfection operations due to the daily use of the same endoscope on several patients.
- it is required to achieve a minimum degree of high disinfection before use, on some of these, on the other hand, it is required to achieve the degree of sterilization before use, requirement which involves further operating procedures, including packaging and passage inside a suitable sterilizer.
- Apparatuses are also known which allow the treatment of endoscopes using treatment chambers which carry out the washing/disinfection of the internal channels of the endoscope and the washing /disinfection of the external walls of the instrument.
- a plurality of channels with which the endoscope is provided is used, said channels being connected to corresponding ducts which, in turn, are connected to a multiple connector to allow internal treatment of the endoscope by means of fluids which pass through the connection ducts of the endoscope and the inside of the endoscope.
- multiple connector means a connector formed by a single connection body provided with a plurality of connections intended for related ducts intended for different fluids used in the treatment to be performed such as, for example, detergent and/or disinfectant liquids, for rinsing liquids, gas for drying, etc.
- the multiple connector is a single connector which allows to connect a plurality of ports provided on the endoscope with a corresponding plurality of fluid conveying ducts provided on the apparatus which performs the treatment.
- the standard multi -connectors are formed by a single body provided with a number of connections between seven and nine and the connection necessary for the treatment is performed manually by an operator.
- the multiple connector is formed by a substantially cylindrical body on which the attachments are arranged with the relative axes arranged parallel to each other and to the axis of the cylindrical body; in other words, the cylindrical body of the multiple connector is crossed by the flows of the various fluids used in the treatment and the directions of the flows are parallel to each other.
- the conformation and consequent sizing of the connectors determines the occupation of a relatively large space, with an unfavorable relationship between the internal volume of the chamber and the maximum number of endoscopes which can simultaneously perform the treatment.
- the shape of the multi -connectors, as well as the fact that the connection must be performed manually contributes to reducing the productivity of this type of apparatus.
- the present invention relates to an apparatus for washing, cleansing, disinfecting/sterilizing and drying endoscopes which eliminates the drawbacks of the prior art by increasing productivity, as well as effectiveness and ease of use.
- the internal space of the treatment chamber is optimized allowing, with the same internal volume, the treatment of a greater number of instruments with respect to the prior art; the consumption of water and detergent for each treated endoscope is reduced; the working conditions of the operators are improved because the manual connection between endoscopes and multi -connectors is no longer necessary, with a consequent increase in workplace safety and apparatus performance; the presence of an identification element of the radio frequency or RFID type allows the unambiguous identification of each endoscope subjected to treatment, with recognition of its operating and maintenance status.
- Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 relate to a possible embodiment of an apparatus for washing, sterilizing and drying endoscopes, represented respectively in a perspective view (Fig.l), in view in plan from above (Fig.2), in a sectional view along the line III-III of Fig. 2 (Fig.3) and in an enlarged detail of Fig. 3 (Fig.4);
- Figs.5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 relate to the embodiment of the apparatus shown in Figs.1-4, with the removal of some parts to highlight others; the apparatus is therefore partially represented and is visible, respectively, in a perspective view (Fig.5), in a top plan view (Fig.6), in a sectional view along the line VII -VII of Fig. 6 (Fig.7), in an enlarged detail of Fig. 7 (Fig.8), in a first enlarged detail of Fig.5 (Fig.9) and in a second enlarged detail of Fig.5 (Fig.10).
- an apparatus made in accordance with the present invention can be used for the internal and external treatment of endoscopes, i.e. for washing, cleansing, disinfecting and drying such instruments both as regards the ducts and internal accesses, both for external surfaces.
- the internal treatment is carried out by means of multiple connection means intended to engage a plurality of ducts and/or accesses provided on the endoscope and the external treatment comprises means for washing and drying the external surfaces of the endoscope.
