본 발명의 이점 및 특징, 그리고 그것들을 달성하는 방법은 첨부되는 도면과 함께 상세하게 후술되어 있는 실시예들을 참조하면 명확해질 것이다. 그러나 본 발명은 이하에서 개시되는 실시예들에 한정되는 것이 아니라 서로 다른 다양한 형태로 구현될 수 있으며, 단지 본 실시예들은 본 발명의 개시가 완전하도록 하고, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 발명의 범주를 완전하게 알려주기 위해 제공되는 것이며, 본 발명은 청구항의 범주에 의해 정의될 뿐이다. 명세서 전체에 걸쳐 동일 참조 부호는 동일 구성 요소를 지칭한다.
명세서에 기재된 "..부", "모듈" 등의 용어는 적어도 하나의 기능이나 동작을 처리하는 단위를 의미하며, 이는 하드웨어 또는 소프트웨어로 구현되거나 하드웨어와 소프트웨어의 결합으로 구현될 수 있다.
도 1은 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차가 발생하는 다양한 원인을 설명하기 위해 제공되는 그래프이다.
충방전기는 복수의 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 장치와 전기적으로 접속되고, 상기 충방전기에 의해 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들이 충전 및 방전될 수 있다. 도 1은 배터리 셀이 방전되는 상황에서 배터리 셀의 SOC에 따른 단자 전압값을 나타내는 도면이다.
배터리 장치의 사용 시간이 경과함에 따라, 배터리 셀들의 단자 전압값, SOC, SOH 등의 전기적 특성의 차이가 발생할 수 있다. 전기적 특성의 차이를 가지는 복수의 배터리 셀들이 하나의 배터리 장치로서 구동되는 경우, 특성이 저하된 배터리 셀에 의해 배터리 장치 전체의 충전 또는 방전 능력이 제한되는 문제점이 발생할 수 있다.
배터리 셀들이 전압값의 편차를 갖는 경우, 배터리 셀들의 밸런싱을 위해 기준값보다 높은 전압값을 갖는 배터리 셀을 방전시키거나, 기준값보다 낮은 전압값을 갖는 배터리 셀을 충전하는 방법이 이용될 수 있다. 상기 밸런싱 방법은 배터리 셀들이 SOH 불균형 없이 SOC 불균형만을 갖는 경우에는 효과적일 수 있다. 그러나, 배터리 셀들이 SOH 불균형을 갖는 경우에는 상기 밸런싱 방법을 이용하여도 배터리 셀들이 밸런싱되기 어려울 수 있다.
배터리 셀들이 SOH 불균형을 갖는 경우, 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차에도 편차가 발생할 수 있다. 도 1의 그래프에서, 제1 시점의 제1 배터리 셀의 전압값(V11) 및 제2 배터리 셀의 전압값(V21)이 3.94V로 동일할 수 있다. 제1 시점 이후로 제1 배터리 셀과 제2 배터리 셀이 방전된 후 제2 시점에서 제1 배터리 셀의 전압값(V12)은 3.74V이고, 제2 배터리 셀의 전압값(V22)은 3.62V일 수 있다.
제1 배터리 셀의 전압이 3.94V에서 3.74V로 떨어질 때 SOC는 20% 감소할 수 있다. 제2 배터리 셀의 전압이 3.94V에서 3.62V로 떨어질 때 SOC는 40% 감소할 수 있다. 즉, 동일한 두 시점에서 제1 배터리 셀은 전체 용량의 20%가 방전되고, 제2 배터리 셀은 전체 용량의 40%가 방전되었을 수 있다. 동일한 두 시점에서 제2 메모리 셀의 SOC가 제1 메모리 셀의 SOC보다 크게 감소했다는 것은, 제2 메모리 셀의 SOH가 제1 메모리 셀의 SOH보다 낮다는 것을 의미할 수 있다.
요컨대, 배터리 셀들이 SOH 불균형을 갖는 경우, 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차에도 편차가 발생할 수 있다. 그러나, 전압값의 차에 편차가 있는 것이 반드시 배터리 셀들이 SOH 불균형을 갖는다는 것을 의미하지는 않는다.
도 1의 그래프에서, 제1 시점의 제3 배터리 셀의 전압값(V31)은 3.53V이고, 제2 시점의 제3 배터리 셀의 전압값(V32)은 3.08V일 수 있다. 동일한 두 시점에서 제3 배터리 셀은 제1 및 제2 배터리 셀에 비해 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차이가 클 수 있다. 그러나, 제3 배터리 셀의 SOC는 제1 배터리 셀의 SOC와 동일하게 20% 감소하였을 수 있다. 즉, SOC에 따른 단자 전압 그래프의 기울기는 충전 시점의 SOC 값 혹은 충전 전압값에 따라 달라질 수 있으므로, 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차에 편차가 있다는 점만으로는 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형을 진단하기 어렵다.
배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차에 편차가 있는 경우, 상기 편차의 원인이 SOC의 불균형인지, 혹은 SOH의 불균형인지 여부에 따라, 사용 후 배터리 장치는 다르게 취급되어야 할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 편차의 원인이 SOC의 불균형인 경우 상기 배터리 장치에 SOC 밸런싱이 수행되면 상기 배터리 장치의 최대 충전 용량이 쉽게 회복될 수 있다. 반면에, 편차의 원인이 SOH 불균형인 경우 상기 SOC 밸런싱을 수행해도 상기 배터리 장치의 최대 충전 용량이 회복되기 어려울 수 있다. 따라서, 편차의 원인이 SOH 불균형인 경우 무용한 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하는 대신 상기 배터리 장치의 최대 충전 용량을 제한하여 재사용하거나, 상기 배터리 장치를 폐기하는 것이 효과적일 수 있다.
이하에서, 복수의 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형을 진단할 수 있는 진단 장치 및 진단 방법이 제안된다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들이 제1 기간 동안 충전된 후, 제2 기간 동안 방전될 수 있다. 배터리 셀들이 제1 기간 동안 충전된 후의 충전 전압값들과, 제2 기간 동안 방전된 후의 방전 전압값들이 센싱될 수 있다. 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값 간의 전압값 차가 큰 상위 N개(N은 자연수)의 배터리 셀들을 이용하여 상기 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형이 진단될 수 있다.
제1 내지 제3 배터리 셀을 예로 들어 설명된 바와 같이, 동일한 기간 동안 방전된 배터리 셀들 간에도 SOC 불균형 및 SOH 불균형에 따라 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차에 편차가 발생할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 충전 전압값이 상대적으로 낮은 배터리 셀들과 SOH가 상대적으로 낮은 배터리 셀들은 동일한 기간에 단자 전압값이 상대적으로 가파르게 떨어질 수 있다.
충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차가 큰 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들은, 동일한 기간에 단자 전압값이 상대적으로 가파르게 떨어진 배터리 셀들일 수 있다. 상기 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들 중, 충전 전압값이 상대적으로 높았음에도 불구하고 방전 전압값이 크게 떨어진 배터리 셀이 있다면, 상기 배터리 셀은 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 SOH가 낮은 배터리 셀일 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 상기 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들 중, 충전 전압 순위에 비해 방전 전압 순위가 임계 수준보다 크게 떨어진 배터리 셀들이 있는 경우, 상기 배터리 셀들 간에 SOH 불균형이 있는 것으로 진단될 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값에 차이가 있는 경우, 상기 전압값 차의 원인이 SOH 불균형인지 여부를 진단할 수 있다. 본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형을 진단함으로써 상기 배터리 장치에 무용한 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하지 않을 수 있으며, 배터리 장치의 재사용 전략을 효과적으로 결정할 수 있다.
도 2는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형 진단 시스템을 나타낸 블록도이다. 도 3 내지 도 4는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형 진단 방법을 나타내는 흐름도들이다.
도 2를 참조하면, SOH 불균형 진단 시스템(100)은 배터리 장치(110) 및 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)를 포함할 수 있다.
배터리 장치(110)는 복수의 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 모듈, 또는 복수의 배터리 모듈들을 포함하는 배터리 팩일 수 있다. 배터리 장치(110)는 배터리 셀들 간 SOH 불균형이 진단될 대상일 수 있다.
SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)는 배터리 장치(110)에 포함된 배터리 셀들 중 충전 전압과 방전 전압의 전압 차가 상대적으로 큰 배터리 셀들을 이용하여 SOH 불균형을 진단할 수 있다. SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)는 전원 공급부(121), 센싱 정보 수신부(122), 메모리(123), 판단부(124), 밸런싱부(125), 제어부(126) 및 릴레이부(127)를 포함할 수 있다.
전원 공급부(121)는 배터리 장치(110)의 충전 단자에 연결되어 배터리 셀들을 충전할 수 있다. 릴레이부(127)는 전원 공급부(121)를 온(on) 상태로 설정함으로써 상기 배터리 셀들이 충전되도록 제어할 수 있으며, 전원 공급부(121)를 오프(off) 상태로 설정함으로써 상기 배터리 셀들이 방전되도록 제어할 수 있다. 제어부(126)는 릴레이부(127)를 제어함으로써 상기 배터리 셀들의 충전 또는 방전을 제어할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 제어부(126)는 배터리 장치(110)의 SOH 불균형을 진단하기 위해, 배터리 셀들을 제1 기간 동안 충전한 후 제2 기간 동안 방전하도록 릴레이부(127)를 제어할 수 있다.
센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 배터리 장치(110)로부터 배터리 셀들의 전압값들을 획득할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 배터리 장치(110)에 포함되는 센싱 보드에서 배터리 셀들의 전압값들이 센싱될 수 있으며, 센싱 정보 수신부(112)는 배터리 장치(110)로부터 센싱된 전압값들을 수신할 수 있다. 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 배터리 셀들을 상기 제1 기간 동안 충전한 후의 충전 전압값들을 수신하고, 상기 배터리 셀들을 상기 제2 기간 동안 방전한 후의 방전 전압값들을 수신할 수 있다. 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들을 메모리(123)에 저장할 수 있다.
판단부(124)는 제어부(126)가 릴레이부(127)를 제어하도록 요청함으로써 SOH 불균형 진단을 시작할 수 있으며, 상기 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들을 이용하여 배터리 장치(110)의 SOH 불균형을 진단할 수 있다. 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 SOH 불균형 진단 방법은 도 2와 함께 도 3 내지 도 4를 참조하여 더욱 자세히 설명될 것이다.
밸런싱부(125)는 배터리 장치(110)의 SOC 밸런싱을 수행할 수 있다. 판단부(124)는 배터리 장치(110)에 SOH 불균형이 없이 SOC 불균형만이 있는 것으로 판단되는 경우, 밸런싱부(125)가 배터리 장치(110)의 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하도록 제어할 수 있다.
도 2 및 도 3을 함께 참조하면, 단계 S11에서 전기 차량 등의 전기 장치에서 사용된 후의 배터리 장치(110)가 재사용을 위해 입고될 수 있다. 배터리 장치(110)의 충전 단자(도시되지 않음)가 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)의 전원 공급부(121)에 연결될 수 있다.
단계 S12에서, 판단부(124)는 SOH 불균형 진단 단위를 설정할 수 있다. 제1 예로, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)에 연결된 배터리 장치(110)가 배터리 모듈인 경우, 판단부(124)는 상기 배터리 모듈을 SOH 불균형 진단 단위로 설정할 수 있다. 제2 예로, 배터리 장치(110)가 복수의 배터리 모듈들을 포함하는 배터리 팩인 경우, 판단부(124)는 상기 복수의 배터리 모듈 각각을 SOH 불균형 진단 단위로 설정할 수 있다.
단계 S13에서, 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 배터리 장치(110)에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 임의 시점의 전압값을 획득할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 배터리 장치(110)에 포함되는 센싱 보드, BMS(Battery Management System) 등으로부터 배터리 셀들의 전압값을 수신할 수 있다. 메모리(123)는 센싱 정보 수신부(122)에서 수신된 배터리 셀들 각각의 전압값을 저장할 수 있다.
단계 S14에서, 판단부(124)는 메모리(123)에 저장된 배터리 셀들 각각의 전압값에 기초하여 배터리 셀들 간 전압값의 편차를 감지하고, 편차가 임계값 이상인지 여부를 결정할 수 있다.
단계 S15에서, 판단부(124)는 배터리 셀들의 전압값의 편차가 SOH 불균형으로 인한 것인지 여부를 진단할 수 있다. 단계 S15의 전압값 편차의 원인 진단 방법은 도 4를 참조하여 더욱 자세히 설명된다.
도 2 및 도 4를 함께 참조하면, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)는 단계 S151 내지 단계 S159를 수행함으로써 전압값 편차의 원인을 진단할 수 있다.
전압값 편차의 원인 진단은 판단부(124)가 제어부(126)에 배터리 장치(110)의 충전 및 방전을 요청하는 것으로부터 시작될 수 있다. 단계 S151에서, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)는 제1 기간 동안 배터리 장치(110)에 포함된 배터리 셀들을 충전할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 제어부(126)는 릴레이부(127)가 전원 공급부(121)를 제1 기간 동안 온(on) 시키도록 제어함으로써 전원 공급부(121)가 상기 배터리 셀들을 충전하도록 제어할 수 있다.
단계 S152에서 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값들을 센싱할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 배터리 장치(110)로부터 배터리 셀들 각각의 단자 전압값을 획득할 수 있다. 그리고, 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 제1 기간이 경과한 이후의 단자 전압값들을 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값들로 결정할 수 있다. 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 충전 전압값들을 메모리(123)에 저장할 수 있다.
단계 S153에서, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120)는 제2 기간 동안 배터리 셀들을 방전시킬 수 있다. 구체적으로, 제어부(126)는 릴레이부(127)가 전원 공급부(121)를 제2 기간 동안 오프(off)시키도록 제어함으로써 배터리 셀들이 방전되도록 할 수 있다.
단계 S154에서, 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 배터리 셀들의 방전 전압값들을 센싱할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 제2 기간이 경과한 이후의 배터리 셀들의 단자 전압값들을 상기 방전 전압값들로 결정할 수 있다. 센싱 정보 수신부(122)는 상기 방전 전압값들을 메모리(123)에 저장할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 제1 기간은 상기 배터리 셀들이 방전 상태에서 완전 충전되는 데 소요되는 시간보다 짧은 시간이라도 충분하며, 상기 제2 기간은 상기 배터리 셀들이 충전 상태에서 완전 방전되는 데 소요되는 시간보다 짧은 시간이라도 충분하다. 예를 들어, 완전 충전 및 완전 방전에 소요되는 시간이 수 시간 정도인 경우라도, 상기 제1 기간 및 상기 제2 기간은 각각 10분 정도로 결정될 수 있다. 그리고, 상기 제1 기간 및 상기 제2 기간의 길이는 동일할 수도 있으나, 서로 다를 수도 있다.
단계 S155에서, 판단부(124)는 진단 단위별로 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값 간의 전압값 차가 큰 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들을 결정할 수 있다. 판단부(124)는 메모리(123)로부터 획득한 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값에 기초하여 배터리 셀들의 전압값 차들을 결정할 수 있다. 판단부(124)는 배터리 장치(110)가 배터리 모듈인 경우 상기 배터리 모듈 전체에 포함된 배터리 셀들 중에서 전압값 차가 큰 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들을 결정할 수 있다. 그리고, 판단부(124)는 배터리 장치(110)가 배터리 팩인 경우, 배터리 팩에 포함된 배터리 모듈을 각각에서 전압값 차가 큰 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들을 결정할 수 있다.
한편, N의 값은 다양한 기준으로 결정될 수 있다. 제1 예로, N의 값은 배터리 모듈에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 개수에 기초하여 결정될 수 있다. 예를 들어, N의 값은 상기 배터리 셀들의 개수의 50%에 해당하는 값으로 결정될 수 있다. 제2 예로, N의 값은 전압값의 차가 상기 배터리 셀들의 전압값 차의 평균보다 큰 배터리 셀들의 개수로 결정될 수 있다. 그러나, 본 발명이 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
단계 S156에서, 판단부(124)는 상기 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들에 대해, 충전 전압 순위와 방전 전압 순위의 차를 결정할 수 있다.
단계 S157에서, 판단부(124)는 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 M순위(M은 자연수) 이상 떨어진 배터리 셀들이 있는지 여부를 판단할 수 있다. 즉, 판단부(124)는 충전 전압값이 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 상대적으로 높았음에도 불구하고, 배터리 셀들을 동일한 기간 동안 방전한 결과 방전 전압값이 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 크게 떨어진, 열화 배터리 셀들이 있는지 여부를 판단할 수 있다.
한편, M의 값은 다양한 기준으로 선택될 수 있다. 예를 들어, M의 값은 배터리 모듈에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 개수의 50%에 해당하는 값으로 결정될 수 있다. 그러나, 본 발명이 이에 제한되는 것은 아니며, M의 값은 배터리 셀들의 개수의 20% 이상의 값으로 선택될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 배터리 셀들의 개수가 100개인 경우 M의 값은 '20', '30', '40' 등의 값으로 결정될 수 있다. 만약 M의 값이 '20'인 경우, 충전 전압 순위에 비해 방전 전압 순위가 20위 이상 떨어진 배터리 셀들이 열화 배터리 셀들로 판단될 수 있다.
상기 순위의 차가 M순위 이상인 열화 배터리 셀들이 있는 경우(단계 S157에서, "예"), 단계 S158에서 판단부(124)는 배터리 모듈에 SOH 편차가 있는 것으로 판단하고, 후속 조치를 수행할 수 있다. 제1 예로, 배터리 장치(110)가 배터리 모듈인 경우, 판단부(124)는 배터리 장치(110)에서 상기 열화 배터리 셀들을 제외한 정상 배터리 셀들의 최대 DOD를 감소시킴으로써 상기 배터리 장치(110)를 최대 충전 용량이 낮은 메모리 모듈로서 재사용할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 전기 차량으로부터 탈거된 배터리 장치(110)의 최대 충전 용량이 낮아져서 배터리 장치(110)를 전기 차량에 재사용하기 어려워진 경우, 배터리 장치(110)를 전원 공급 장치에 재사용할 수 있다. 제2 예로, 배터리 장치(110)가 배터리 팩인 경우, 판단부(124)는 열화 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 모듈을 정상 배터리 모듈로 교체함으로써 상기 배터리 팩을 재구성할 수 있다.
한편, 충전 전압 순위에 비해 방전 전압 순위가 더 크게 떨어지는 배터리 셀일수록 열화된 정도가 클 수 있다. 판단부(124)는 순위의 차가 M순위 이상인 열화 배터리 셀들 중에서도, 순위의 차에 따라 배터리 셀들의 열화 정도에 차등을 둘 수 있다. 판단부(124)는 배터리 셀들의 열화 정도에 따라 SOH 편차의 정도를 결정하고, 배터리 모듈의 상기 최대 DOD를 어느 정도로 감소시킬지를 결정하거나, 상기 배터리 모듈이 폐기될 필요가 있는지 여부를 결정할 수도 있다.
상기 순위의 차가 M순위 이상인 열화 배터리 셀들이 없는 경우(단계 S157에서, "아니오"), 단계 S159에서 판단부(124)는 배터리 모듈에 SOH 편차가 없는 것으로 판단하고, 밸런싱부(125)가 상기 배터리 모듈에 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하도록 제어할 수 있다. 밸런싱부(125)는 배터리 모듈에 SOC 밸런싱을 수행함으로써 배터리 셀들의 최대 DOD를 개선할 수 있다. 상기 배터리 모듈의 SOC 밸런싱이 완료되면, 상기 배터리 모듈을 재사용하기 위해 배터리 모듈 전체의 SOH를 정확하게 판단할 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 판단부(124)는 배터리 모듈에 SOH 불균형이 있는지 여부를 신속하게 결정할 수 있다. 예를 들어, SOH 불균형이 있는지 여부는 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값들 및 방전 전압값들의 상대적인 크기에 기초하여 결정될 수 있으므로, 상기 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들은 반드시 완전 충전 상태 및 완전 방전 상태에서 결정되어야 하는 것은 아니다. 따라서, 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들을 결정하기 위해 배터리 셀들을 충전 및 방전하는 데 걸리는 시간이 단축될 수 있다.
배터리 모듈에 SOH 불균형이 있는지 여부에 따라 판단부(124)는 배터리 모듈의 재사용 전략을 신속하게 결정할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 판단부(124)는 배터리 모듈에 SOH 편차가 있는 경우, 무용한 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하는 것에 시간을 낭비하지 않고, 배터리 모듈의 재사용 여부 및 재사용 용도를 결정할 수 있다.
도 5a 및 도 5b는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형 진단 방법을 설명하기 위해 제공되는 도면들이다. 도 5a 및 도 5b는 배터리 셀들의 서로 다른 전압 프로파일을 나타낼 수 있다.
도 5a를 참조하면, 배터리 모듈에 포함된 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 각각의 충전 전압값, 방전 전압값이 예시된다. 그리고, 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 각각의 상기 충전 전압값 및 방전 전압값에 기초하여 결정되는 전압값의 차(dV), 전압값 차의 순위, 충전 전압 순위, 방전 전압 순위, 및 순위의 차(dRank)가 도시된다.
도 3을 참조하여 설명된 바에 따르면, 배터리 셀의 충전 전압값은 배터리 셀을 제1 기간 동안 충전한 후의 전압값일 수 있으며, 배터리 셀의 방전 전압값은 배터리 셀을 상기 제1 기간 이후의 제2 기간 동안 방전한 후의 전압값일 수 있다.
전압값의 차는 상기 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값의 차이 값으로 결정될 수 있다. 그리고, 전압값의 차의 순위는 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 간의 상대적인 크기에 따라 결정될 수 있다. 전압값의 차의 순위가 '1'에 가까울수록 전압값의 차가 크고, 전압값의 차의 순위가 '10'에 가까울수록 전압값의 차가 작을 수 있다.
어떤 배터리 셀의 전압값의 차가 상대적으로 크다는 것은, 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10)을 동일한 기간 동안 방전한 결과 해당 배터리 셀이 상대적으로 빠르게 방전되었다는 것을 나타낼 수 있다.
10개의 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 중 전압값의 차의 순위가 높은 N개의 배터리 셀들, 예를 들어 5개의 배터리 셀들(Cell2, Cell6, Cell7, Cell8, Cell9)이 열화 배터리 셀들의 후보로 선택될 수 있다. 상기 후보 배터리 셀들은 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 SOH가 상대적으로 낮은 열화 배터리 셀일 수도 있으나, 단지 충전 상태에서의 SOC가 상대적으로 낮은 정상 배터리 셀일 수도 있다.
상기 후보 배터리 셀들은, 충전 전압 순위와 방전 전압 순위의 차에 기초하여 열화 배터리 셀인지 여부가 결정될 수 있다. 배터리 셀의 충전 전압 순위는 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10)의 충전 전압값의 상대적인 크기에 따라 결정될 수 있다. 충전 전압 순위가 '1'에 가까울수록 충전 전압값이 크고, 충전 전압 순위가 '10'에 가까울수록 충전 전압값이 작을 수 있다. 마찬가지로, 방전 전압 순위는 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10)의 방전 전압값의 상대적인 크기에 따라 결정될 수 있다. 방전 전압 순위가 '1'에 가까울수록 방전 전압값이 크고, 방전 전압 순위가 '10'에 가까울수록 방전 전압값이 작을 수 있다.
상기 후보 배터리 셀들 중 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 M순위, 예를 들어 5순위 이상 떨어진 배터리 셀들이 열화 배터리 셀로 결정될 수 있다.
어떤 배터리 셀의 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 크게 떨어지는 경우는, 해당 배터리 셀의 충전 전압값이 상대적으로 높았으나, 빠르게 방전된 경우를 나타낼 수 있다. 즉, 해당 배터리 셀은 SOH가 상대적으로 낮을 수 있다.
예를 들어, 제9 배터리 셀(Cell9)의 충전 전압 순위는 '1'이고, 방전 전압 순위는 '10'이므로, 순위의 차(dRank)가 '-9'일 수 있다. 즉, 제9 배터리 셀(Cell9)은 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 9순위 떨어진 배터리 셀일 수 있으며, 제9 배터리 셀(Cell9)은 열화 배터리 셀로 결정될 수 있다. 마찬가지로, 도 5a의 예에서는 제2 및 제8 배터리 셀(Cell2, Cell8)도 열화 배터리 셀로 결정될 수 있다. 그리고, 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10)이 SOH가 상대적으로 낮은 열화 배터리 셀들을 포함하기 때문에, 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10)을 포함하는 배터리 모듈은 SOH 불균형이 있는 것으로 결정될 수 있다.
도 5b를 참조하면, 배터리 모듈에 포함된 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 각각의 충전 전압값, 방전 전압값, 전압값의 차(dV), 전압값 차의 순위, 충전 전압 순위, 방전 전압 순위 및 순위의 차(dRank)가 예시된다.
도 5a와 마찬가지로, 도 5b의 예에서 10개의 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 중 전압 차의 순위가 높은 N개, 예를 들어 5개의 배터리 셀들(Cell1, Cell2, Cell3, Cell4, Cell6)이 후보 배터리 셀들로 선택될 수 있다. 후보 배터리 셀들 중 후보 배터리 셀들 중 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 5순위 이상 떨어진 배터리 셀들이 열화 배터리 셀로 결정될 수 있다.
도 5b를 참조하면, 배터리 셀들(Cell1-Cell10) 중 충전 전압 순위와 방전 전압 순위의 차(dRank)가 '-5'보다 작은 배터리 셀들이 없을 수 있다. 후보 배터리 셀들(Cell1, Cell2, Cell3, Cell4, Cell6)은 단지 SOC가 상대적으로 낮은 정상 배터리 셀들로 결정될 수 있다.
예를 들어, 제3 배터리 셀(Cell3)의 전압값의 차(dV)는 1.853V로, 전압값 차의 순위가 '2'인 제1 배터리 셀(Cell1)에 비해서도 큰 전압값의 차(dV)를 가질 수 있다. 그러나, 제3 배터리 셀(Cell3)의 충전 전압 순위는 '10'이고, 방전 전압 순위는 '10'이므로, 순위의 차(dRank)는 '0'일 수 있다. 즉, 제3 배터리 셀(Cell3)은 충전 전압값이 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 낮았기 때문에, 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 SOH가 낮지 않더라도 다른 배터리 셀들에 비해 전압값이 빠르게 떨어졌을 수 있다. 따라서, 제3 배터리 셀(Cell3)은 단지 SOC가 상대적으로 낮은 정상 배터리 셀로 결정될 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 배터리 모듈에 포함되는 배터리 셀들 간에 전압값 편차가 있는 경우, 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값에 기초하여 배터리 모듈의 전압값 편차의 원인이 SOH 불균형인지 여부를 결정할 수 있다.
이하에서, 도 6 내지 도 8을 참조하여 SOH 불균형 진단 시스템의 다양한 예들이 설명된다.
도 6을 참조하면, SOH 불균형 진단 시스템(200)은 배터리 모듈(210), SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220) 및 외부 전원(230)을 포함할 수 있다.
배터리 모듈(210)은 복수의 배터리 셀들(BCELL) 및 센싱 보드(211)를 포함할 수 있다. 복수의 배터리 셀들(BCELL)은 서로 직렬 및 병렬로 연결되어, 전기 차량 등의 전기 장치로 전력을 공급할 수 있다. 그리고, 센싱 보드(211)는 배터리 셀들(BCELL) 각각의 단자에 연결되어 배터리 셀들(BCELL)의 전압값들을 센싱할 수 있다.
SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220)는 전원 공급부(221), 센싱 정보 수신부(222), 메모리(223), 판단부(224), 밸런싱부(225), 제어부(226), 릴레이부(227), 사용자 인터페이스(228) 및 스위치(229)를 포함할 수 있다. 전원 공급부(221), 센싱 정보 수신부(222), 메모리(223), 판단부(224), 밸런싱부(225), 제어부(226), 릴레이부(227)는 도 2를 참조하여 설명된 전원 공급부(121), 센싱 정보 수신부(122), 메모리(123), 판단부(124), 밸런싱부(125), 제어부(126) 및 릴레이부(127)에 각각 대응할 수 있다.
외부 전원(230)은 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220)의 전원 공급부(221)가 배터리 모듈(210)을 충전하기 위한 전력을 전원 공급부(221)로 제공할 수 있다. 전원 공급부(221)로 제공되는 전력은, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220) 자체를 구동하기 위해서도 사용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220)는 배터리 모듈(210)에 포함된 배터리 셀들(BCELL)의 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들의 상대적인 비교를 통해 배터리 모듈(210)의 SOH 불균형 여부를 진단할 수 있다. SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220)는 배터리 셀들(BCELL)을 완전 충전 또는 완전 방전하지 않고, 단시간의 충전 및 방전을 통해 얻어진 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들에 기초하여 SOH 불균형 여부를 신속하게 진단하고, 배터리 모듈의 재사용 전략을 신속하게 결정할 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(220)는, 배터리 셀들(BCELL)의 전압 편차가 감지되면, 사용자의 선택에 따라 SOH 불균형 여부 진단을 시작할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 판단부(224)는 배터리 셀들(BCELL)의 전압 편차를 감지하면, 디스플레이와 같은 사용자 인터페이스(228)를 통해 전압 편차 감지 사실을 사용자에게 표시함으로써 사용자가 SOH 불균형을 진단할지 여부를 선택하도록 할 수 있다.
사용자 인터페이스(228)는 사용자로부터 SOH 불균형 진단 요청을 입력받을 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 디스플레이가 터치스크린인 경우, 상기 디스플레이를 통해 진단 요청을 입력받을 수 있다. 혹은, 마우스, 키보드와 같은 사용자 인터페이스(228)를 통해서 진단 요청을 입력받을 수도 있다.
스위치(229)는 사용자 인터페이스(228)를 통해 입력받은 진단 요청에 응하여, 판단부(224)로 SOH 불균형 진단을 시작하기 위한 트리거 신호를 제공할 수 있다. 판단부(224)는 상기 트리거 신호에 응하여, 제어부(226)를 통해 전원 공급부(221)의 충전 및 방전을 제어하고, 상기 충전 및 방전 결과에 따른 배터리 셀들(BCELL)의 충전 전압값 및 방전 전압값을 센싱 정보 수신부(222)로부터 획득하여 배터리 모듈(210)의 SOH 불균형 여부를 진단할 수 있다.
도 7을 참조하면, SOH 불균형 진단 시스템(300)은 배터리 팩(310), SOH 불균형 진단 장치(320) 및 외부 전원(330)을 포함할 수 있다.
배터리 팩(310)은 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 및 센싱 정보 전달부(311)를 포함할 수 있다. 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 각각은 도 6을 참조하여 설명된 배터리 모듈(210)과 유사한 구조를 가질 수 있다. 예를 들어, 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK)은 서로 직렬 및 병렬로 연결된 배터리 셀들을 포함할 수 있으며, 배터리 셀들 각각의 전압값을 센싱하는 센싱 보드들(SB1-SBK)을 포함할 수 있다.
센싱 정보 전달부(311)는 센싱 보드들(SB1-SBK)로부터 획득된 전압값들을 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(320)로 전달할 수 있다.
SOH 불균형 진단 장치(320)는 전원 공급부(321), 센싱 정보 수신부(322), 메모리(323), 판단부(324), 밸런싱부(325), 제어부(326), 릴레이부(327), 사용자 인터페이스(328) 및 스위치(329)를 포함할 수 있다. SOH 불균형 진단 장치(320)에 포함되는 구성들은 도 6의 SOH불균형 진단 장치(220)에 포함되는 구성들과 실질적으로 동일할 수 있다.
전원 공급부(321)는 배터리 팩(310)의 충전 단자에 연결되어 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK)로 충전 전압을 제공할 수 있다. 판단부(324)는 전원 공급부(321)에 배터리 팩이 연결된 것을 감지하면, 배터리 팩의 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 각각에 대해 SOH 불균형 여부를 진단할 수 있도록 진단 단위를 설정할 수 있다.
판단부(324)는 센싱 정보 수신부(322)로부터 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 각각에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값 및 방전 전압값을 획득하고, SOH 불균형 여부를 배터리 모듈별로 진단할 수 있다. 그리고, 배터리 모듈별로 재사용 전략을 결정할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 배터리 팩(310)에 포함된 일부 배터리 모듈은 SOH 불균형이 있는 열화 배터리 모듈이고 나머지 배터리 모듈들은 SOH 불균형이 없는 정상 배터리 모듈일 수 있다. 판단부(324)는 사용자 인터페이스(328)를 통해 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 중 열화 배터리 모듈을 나타내는 정보를 사용자에게 표시함으로써 사용자가 배터리 팩(310)에 포함된 열화 배터리 모듈을 외부의 정상 배터리 모듈로 교체하도록 지시할 수 있다. 그리고, 판단부(324)는 배터리 팩(310)에 포함된 정상 배터리 모듈들에 대해서 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하도록 밸런싱부(325)를 제어할 수 있다.
도 8을 참조하면, SOH 불균형 진단 시스템(400)은 전기 차량(410), SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420) 및 외부 전원(430)을 포함할 수 있다.
전기 차량(410)은 배터리 팩(411) 및 충전 단자(412)를 포함할 수 있다. 배터리 팩(411)은 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 및 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)을 포함할 수 있다. 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK)은 도 7을 참조하여 설명된 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK)과 유사한 구조를 가질 수 있다.
배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)은 복수의 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK) 각각에 포함된 배터리 셀들을 관리할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)은 상기 배터리 셀들의 전압값들을 센싱할 수 있으며, 상기 전압값들에 기초하여 배터리 셀들 간의 SOC 밸런싱을 전기 차량(410) 내부적으로 수행하는 등의 관리 동작을 더 수행할 수도 있다.
충전 단자(412)는 배터리 팩(411)에 포함된 배터리 모듈들(BM1-BMK)을 충전하기 위한 단자로서, 전기 차량(410)의 외부로 노출될 수 있다.
SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 전원 공급부(421), 센싱 정보 수신부(422), 메모리(423), 판단부(424), 밸런싱부(425), 제어부(426), 릴레이부(427), 사용자 인터페이스(428) 및 스위치(429)를 포함할 수 있다. SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)에 포함되는 구성들은 도 6 및 도 7의 SOH 불균형 진단 장치들(220, 320)에 포함되는 구성들과 실질적으로 동일할 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 전원 공급부(421)는 전기 차량(410)의 외부로 노출되는 충전 단자(412)를 통해 배터리 팩(411)을 충전할 수 있다. 그리고, 센싱 정보 수신부(422)는 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)으로부터 배터리 셀들의 전압값들을 획득할 수 있다. 실시 예에 따라, 센싱 정보 수신부(422)는 충전 단자(412)와 함께 제공되는 유선 인터페이스를 통해 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)과 통신할 수도 있으며, 무선 인터페이스를 통해 배터리 관리 시스템(BMS)과 통신할 수도 있다. 따라서, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 전기 차량(410)으로부터 탈거되지 않은 배터리 팩(411)의 SOH 불균형을 진단할 수도 있다.
한편, 도 8의 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 전기 차량의 충전소에 구비될 수 있다. 사용자에 의해 전기 차량의 충전소에 도달한 전기 차량(410)은 충전 단자(412)를 통해 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)에 연결될 수 있다. SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 배터리 팩(411)의 SOH 불균형을 진단한 이후에, 사용자의 요구에 따라 전기 차량(410)의 충전을 더 수행할 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 외부 전원(430)은 배전반으로부터 3상전원을 공급받고, 공급받은 3상전원을 전원 공급부(421)로 제공할 수 있다. 전원 공급부(421)는 3상전원을 직류 전원으로 변환한 후 배터리 팩(411)을 충전할 수 있다.
이하에서, SOH 불균형 진단 장치가 전기 차량의 충전소에 구비되는 경우를 예로 들어서 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 SOH 불균형 진단 방법이 자세히 설명된다.
도 9는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형 진단 방법을 설명하기 위한 흐름도이다.
도 8 및 도 9를 참조하면, 단계 S21에서, 전기 차량(410)이 사용자에 의해 전기 차량의 충전소로 진입할 수 있다. 단계 S22에서, 전기 차량(410)이 충전 커넥터(도시되지 않음)를 통해 전원 공급부(421)와 연결될 수 있다.
단계 S23에서, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 배터리 팩(411)에 포함된 배터리 모듈들에 전압 편차가 있는지 여부를 판단할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 판단부(424)는 상기 배터리 모듈들에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 전압값들을 센싱 정보 수신부(422)로부터 획득하고, 획득한 전압값들에 기초하여 전압 편차를 감지할 수 있다.
상기 배터리 모듈들에 전압 편차가 없는 경우(단계 S23에서, "아니오"), SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 단계 S26에서 배터리 팩(411)을 충전할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 사용자 인터페이스(428)는 사용자부터 원하는 충전량을 입력받을 수 있다. 제어부(426)는 사용자가 원하는 충전량만큼 배터리 팩(411)이 충전될 수 있도록 릴레이부(427)를 제어할 수 있다.
상기 배터리 모듈들에 전압 편차가 있는 경우(단계 S23에서, "예"), SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 단계 S24에서 전압 편차 원인 진단을 수행할 수 있다. 단계 S24의 전압 편차 원인 진단은 도 4를 참조하여 설명된 단계 S151 내지 단계 S159의 방법으로 수행될 수 있다.
한편, 단계 S24의 전압 편차 원인 진단은 배터리 모듈들의 전압 편차가 감지되면 트리거될 수도 있으나, 사용자의 선택에 의해 트리거될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 배터리 모듈들의 전압 편차가 감지되면 사용자 인터페이스(428)를 통해 전압 편차가 감지되었음을 사용자에게 알릴 수 있다. 그리고, 사용자 인터페이스(428)를 통한 사용자의 요청에 응하여 전압 편차 원인 진단이 트리거될 수 있다.
단계 S24의 전압 편차 원인 진단이 완료되면, SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 단계 S25에서 전압 편차 원인이 단지 SOC 불균형인지, 혹은 SOH 불균형인지를 사용자에게 알려줄 수 있다. 예를 들어, 사용자 인터페이스(428)는 상기 전압 편차 원인을 디스플레이할 수 있다. 그리고, 단계 S26에서 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)는 배터리 팩(411)을 충전할 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시 예에 따르면, 사용자는 전기 차량(410)을 충전할 때 배터리 팩(411)의 배터리 셀들 간 전압 편차 및 상기 전압 편차의 원인을 진단받을 수 있다. 사용자는 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(420)에 디스플레이된 전압 편차의 원인이 SOH 불균형인 경우, 배터리 팩(411)을 교체하는 등의 후속 조치를 수행할 수 있다.
도 10은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 SOH 불균형 진단 장치를 간단하게 나타낸 블록도이다.
도 2, 도 6 내지 도 8을 참조하여 설명된 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(120, 220, 320, 420)는 하나의 장치일 수 있으며, 도 10의 SOH 불균형 진단 장치(500)로 도시될 수 있다.
도 10을 참조하면, 배터리의 SOH 추정 장치(500)는 프로세서(510), 메모리(520), 전원 공급부(530), 릴레이부(540), 센싱 정보 수신부(550), 사용자 인터페이스(560) 및 버스(501)를 포함할 수 있다. 프로세서(510), 메모리(520), 전원 공급부(530), 릴레이부(540), 센싱 정보 수신부(550) 및 사용자 인터페이스(560)는 버스(501)를 통해 서로 통신할 수 있다.
메모리(520)는 프로세서(510)가 SOH 불균형 여부를 진단하기 위한 데이터를 저장할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 메모리(520)에는 프로세서(510)에 의해 구동되는 판단부(521), 밸런싱부(522) 및 제어부(523)가 로드될 수 있다. 그리고, 메모리(520)는 충전 전압값, 방전 전압값 등의 전압 정보(524)를 저장할 수 있다.
전원 공급부(530)는 배터리 장치로 전원을 공급함으로써 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들을 충전할 수 있다. 그리고, 릴레이부(540)는 상기 배터리 셀이 충전 또는 방전되도록 전원 공급부(530)를 제어할 수 있다.
센싱 정보 수신부(550)는 배터리 장치로부터 배터리 셀들의 전압값들을 획득하고, 충전 전압값들 및 방전 전압값들을 결정할 수 있다. 센싱 정보 수신부(550)로부터 결정된 충전 전압값들 및 방전 전압값들은 메모리(520)에 전압 정보(524)로서 저장될 수 있다.
사용자 인터페이스(560)는 배터리 셀들의 전압값들에 편차가 있는 경우, 배터리 셀들의 SOH 불균형 진단의 필요성을 사용자에게 표시할 수 있으며, 사용자로부터 SOH 불균형 진단 요청을 입력받을 수 있다. 그리고, 사용자 인터페이스(560)는 SOH 불균형 진단 결과를 사용자에게 표시할 수도 있다.
프로세서(510)는 판단부(521) 및 제어부(523)를 구동함으로써 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압값 및 방전 전압값의 상대적인 크기 및 순위에 기초하여 SOH 불균형 여부를 진단할 수 있으며, 밸런싱부(522)를 구동함으로써 SOC 밸런싱을 수행할 수 있다. 그리고, 프로세서(510)는 SOH 불균형 여부를 진단하기 위해 전원 공급부(530), 릴레이부(540), 센싱 정보 수신부(550) 및 사용자 인터페이스(560)를 제어할 수 있다.
판단부(521)는 전압 정보(524)에 기초하여 배터리 셀들의 전압 값들에 편차가 있는지 여부를 판단하고, SOH 불균형 진단의 필요성을 표시하도록 사용자 인터페이스(560)를 제어할 수 있다. 판단부(521)는 사용자 인터페이스(560)를 통해 입력받은 SOH 불균형 진단 요청에 응하여, 제어부(523)가 릴레이부(540)를 제어하도록 요청할 수 있다.
제어부(523)는 릴레이부(540)가 전원 공급부(530)를 제1 기간 동안 온 시키고, 제2 기간 동안 오프 시키도록 제어할 수 있다. 판단부(521)는 센싱 정보 수신부(550)로부터 배터리 셀들이 제1 기간 동안 충전된 후의 충전 전압값들과, 배터리 셀들이 제2 기간 동안 방전된 후의 방전 전압값들을 획득할 수 있다.
판단부(521)는 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들 중, 충전 전압값들과 방전 전압값들의 전압값의 차가 큰 상위 N개의 후보 배터리 셀들을 선택할 수 있다. 그리고, 판단부(521)는 상기 후보 배터리 셀들 중 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 M순위 이상 떨어진 배터리 셀이 있는 경우, 상기 배터리 셀을 열화 배터리 셀로 결정할 수 있으며, 상기 배터리 장치의 SOH 불균형을 진단할 수 있다.
판단부(521)는 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 있는 경우 사용자 인터페이스(560)가 진단 결과를 표시하도록 제어할 수 있으며, 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 없는 경우 밸런싱부(522)가 배터리 장치의 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하도록 제어할 수 있다.
본 발명이 속하는 기술분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자는 본 발명이 그 기술적 사상이나 필수적인 특징을 변경하지 않고서 다른 구체적인 형태로 실시될 수 있다는 것을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 이상에서 기술한 실시예들은 모든 면에서 예시적인 것이며 한정적이 아닌 것으로 이해해야만 한다. 본 발명의 범위는 상기 상세한 설명보다는 후술하는 특허청구의 범위에 의하여 나타내어지며, 특허청구의 범위의 의미 및 범위 그리고 그 균등 개념으로부터 도출되는 모든 변경 또는 변형된 형태가 본 발명의 범위에 포함되는 것으로 해석되어야 한다.

Claims (16)

  1. 사용 후 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들 간 SOH(State Of Health) 불균형 진단 방법에 있어서,
    상기 배터리 셀들 간의 전압값의 편차를 감지하는 단계;
    상기 배터리 셀들을 제1 기간 동안 충전하고, 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치로부터 배터리 셀들 각각의 충전 전압값을 수신하며, 상기 충전 전압값에 기초하여 충전 전압 순위를 결정하는 단계;
    상기 배터리 셀들을 제2 기간 동안 방전하고, 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치로부터 배터리 셀들 각각의 방전 전압값을 수신하며, 상기 방전 전압값에 기초하여 방전 전압 순위를 결정하는 단계;
    상기 충전 전압값과 상기 방전 전압값 간의 전압값 차가 큰 상위 N개(N은 자연수)의 배터리 셀들을 결정하는 단계; 및
    상기 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들 중, 상기 방전 전압 순위가 상기 충전 전압 순위에 비해 M순위(M은 자연수) 이상 떨어지는 열화 배터리 셀이 있는 경우, 상기 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 있는 것으로 진단하는 단계
    를 포함하는 SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 기간은 상기 배터리 셀들의 완전 충전에 걸리는 시간보다 짧으며,
    상기 제2 기간은 상기 배터리 셀들의 완전 방전에 걸리는 시간보다 짧은
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 제1 기간 및 제2 기간은 동일한
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 N 및 M의 값은
    상기 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들의 개수에 기초하여 결정되는
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  5. 제4항에 있어서,
    상기 M의 값은
    상기 배터리 셀들의 개수의 20% 이상에 해당하는 값으로 결정되는
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  6. 제4항에 있어서,
    상기 N의 값은
    상기 배터리 셀들의 전압값 차의 평균값보다 큰 전압값 차를 갖는 배터리 셀들의 개수에 기초하여 결정되는
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 상위 N개의 배터리 셀들 중 상기 열화 배터리 셀이 없는 경우, 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치의 SOC(State Of Charge) 밸런싱을 수행하는 단계를 더 포함하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 사용 후 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 있는 것으로 진단된 경우, 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들 중 상기 열화 배터리 셀을 제외한 정상 배터리 셀들의 최대 DOD(Degree Of Discharge)를 감소시키고, 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치를 충전 용량이 낮은 배터리 장치로서 재사용하는 단계를 더 포함하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 방법.
  9. 사용 후 배터리 장치에 포함된 배터리 셀들 간 SOH(State Of Health) 불균형 진단 장치에 있어서,
    상기 배터리 셀들이 제1 기간 동안 충전된 후 제2 기간 동안 방전되도록 제어하는 제어부;
    상기 배터리 셀들이 상기 제1 기간 동안 충전된 후의 충전 전압값들을 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치로부터 수신하고, 상기 배터리 셀들이 상기 제2 기간 동안 방전된 후의 방전 전압값들을 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치로부터 수신하는 센싱 정보 수신부; 및
    상기 충전 전압값들 및 방전 전압값들에 기초하여 상기 배터리 셀들의 충전 전압 순위들 및 방전 전압 순위들을 결정하고, 상기 배터리 셀들 중 충전 전압값과 방전 전압값 간의 전압값 차가 큰 상위 N개(N은 자연수)의 후보 배터리 셀들을 결정하고, 상기 후보 배터리 셀들 중 방전 전압 순위가 충전 전압 순위에 비해 M순위(M은 자연수) 이상 떨어진 열화 배터리 셀들이 있는 경우 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 있는 것으로 진단하는 판단부
    를 포함하는 SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  10. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 사용 후 배터리 장치는
    각각이 복수의 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 모듈들을 포함하는 배터리 팩이며,
    상기 판단부는
    상기 배터리 모듈들 각각에 대해 상기 후보 배터리 셀들을 결정하고, 상기 열화 배터리 셀들이 있는지 여부를 판단함으로써 SOH 불균형이 있는지 여부를 상기 배터리 모듈들 각각에 대해 결정하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  11. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 SOH 불균형 진단 장치는
    사용자 인터페이스; 및
    배터리 모듈의 SOC(State Of Charge)를 밸런싱하는 밸런싱부를 더 포함하고,
    상기 판단부는
    상기 배터리 모듈들 중 SOH 불균형이 있는 열화 배터리 모듈의 정보를 상기 사용자 인터페이스에 표시하며, 상기 배터리 모듈들 중 SOH 불균형이 없는 정상 배터리 모듈의 SOC 밸런싱을 수행하도록 상기 밸런싱부를 제어하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  12. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 SOH 불균형 진단 장치는
    상기 사용 후 배터리 장치로 전원을 공급함으로써 상기 배터리 셀들을 충전하는 전원 공급부를 더 포함하고,
    상기 제어부는 상기 전원 공급부를 제어함으로써 상기 배터리 셀들의 충전 및 방전을 제어하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  13. 제12항에 있어서,
    상기 전원 공급부는
    상기 사용 후 배터리 장치가 장착된 전기 차량의 충전 단자를 통해 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치로 전원을 공급하며,
    상기 판단부는
    상기 사용 후 배터리 장치가 상기 전기 차량에 장착된 상태에서 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 있는지 여부를 진단하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  14. 제13항에 있어서,
    상기 SOH 불균형 진단 장치는
    상기 전원 공급부는
    외부 분전반으로부터 공급되는 3상전원을 직류전원으로 변환하고, 상기 직류전원을 상기 전기 차량으로 공급하며, 상기 사용 후 배터리 장치에 SOH 불균형이 있는지 여부를 진단한 후에 사용자의 요구에 따라 상기 전기 차량을 충전하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  15. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 SOH 불균형 진단 장치는
    사용자 인터페이스를 더 포함하고,
    상기 판단부는
    상기 배터리 셀들의 임의 시점에서의 전압 편차를 감지하면 상기 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 SOH 불균형 진단의 필요성을 표시하며, 상기 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 사용자로부터 SOH 불균형 진단 요청을 입력받으면 상기 제어부가 상기 전원 공급부를 제어함으로써 상기 배터리 셀들을 제1 기간 동안 충전한 후 제2 기간 동안 방전하도록 함으로써 SOH 불균형 진단을 시작하는
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
  16. 제9항에 있어서,
    상기 사용 후 배터리 장치는
    상기 배터리 셀들을 포함하는 배터리 모듈인
    SOH 불균형 진단 장치.
