Abstract
La présente invention a trait de manière générale au domaine du stockage d'énergie électrique dans des batteries secondaires rechargeables de type Li-ion. Plus précisément, l'invention concerne un revêtement de cathode pour une batterie Li-ion tous solide. L'invention concerne aussi un procédé de préparation dudit revêtement. L'invention se rapporte également à une cathode revêtue de ce revêtement, au procédé de fabrication d'une telle cathode, ainsi qu'aux batteries secondaires Li-ion comprenant une telle cathode.
Description
REVETEMENT DE CATHODE POUR BATTERIE LI-ION
DOMAINE DE L’INVENTION
La présente invention a trait de manière générale au domaine du stockage d’énergie électrique dans des batteries secondaires rechargeables de type Li-ion. Plus précisément, l’invention concerne un revêtement de cathode pour une batterie Li-ion tout solide. L’invention concerne aussi un procédé de préparation dudit revêtement. L’invention se rapporte également à une cathode revêtue de ce revêtement, au procédé de fabrication d’une telle cathode, ainsi qu’aux batteries secondaires Li-ion comprenant une telle cathode.
ARRIERE-PLAN TECHNIQUE
Une batterie secondaire au lithium peut être utilisée comme source d'alimentation pour une variété d'appareils électroniques allant des téléphones cellulaires, des ordinateurs portables et des petits appareils électroniques domestiques aux véhicules et aux dispositifs de stockage d'énergie haute capacité et autres, et la demande en batteries lithium secondaires ne cessent de croître.
Les batteries secondaires au lithium existantes utilisent généralement des électrolytes liquides contenant une substance organique. Ces électrolytes liquides ont avantageusement une conductivité ionique élevée, mais nécessitent des dispositifs de sécurité supplémentaires en raison du risque de fuite de liquide, d'incendie ou d'explosion à haute température.
Pour tenter de résoudre les problèmes de sécurité associés aux électrolytes liquides, récemment, des batteries entièrement solides utilisant des électrolytes solides ont été développées. Une batterie tout solide comprend généralement une électrode positive, un électrolyte solide et une électrode négative. L'électrode positive comprend un matériau actif d'électrode positive et un électrolyte solide, et comprend en outre un matériau conducteur électronique et un liant. L'électrolyte solide comprend un ou plusieurs éléments de la liste suivante : polymère, plastifiant, sel de lithium, particule inorganique, liquide ionique. Comme l'électrode positive, l'électrode négative comprend un matériau actif d'électrode négative et un électrolyte solide, et comprend en outre un matériau conducteur et un liant.
Cependant, il n’y a pour le moment aucun électrolyte solide qui satisfait le cahier des charges pour une utilisation massive de la batterie tout solide. En effet, pour l’électrolyte solide il est généralement difficile d’allier conductivité ionique, stabilité électrochimique, tenue mécanique et compatibilité avec les matériaux d’anode ou de cathode.
On peut notamment citer comme exemple, les composés inorganiques qui présentent des conductivités ioniques très élevés mais qui montrent une instabilité électrochimique vis-à-vis des potentiels au niveau de l’anode et des potentiels élevés au niveau de la cathode. Il existe toujours un besoin de développer une solution qui permet de rendre compatible une cathode avec un électrolyte solide dans une batterie Li-ion tout solide.
L’invention a donc pour but de fournir un revêtement applicable directement sur une électrode positive de batterie Li-ion, permettant alors d’avoir une séparation physique entre l’électrolyte solide et la matière active d’électrode et rendant possible l’utilisation des électrolytes solides qui semblaient instable vis-à-vis de certaines matières actives.
L’invention vise également à fournir un procédé de fabrication dudit revêtement de cathode. L’invention se rapporte enfin à une cathode présentant un tel revêtement, et au procédé de fabrication d’une telle cathode.
Enfin, l’invention vise à fournir des batteries secondaires Li-ion rechargeables comprenant une telle cathode.
RESUME DE L’INVENTION
La solution technique proposée par la présente invention est de fournir un revêtement de cathode qui rend celle-ci compatible avec un électrolyte solide dans une batterie tout-solide.
L’invention concerne en premier lieu un revêtement de cathode consistant en : a. un ou plusieurs poly(fluorure de vinylidène), b. un sel de lithium, et c. un additif de conductivité.
L’invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication d’un revêtement de cathode à partir d’une encre obtenue en mélangeant tous les constituants du revêtement.
L’invention concerne aussi une cathode pour batterie lithium-ion, ladite cathode consistant en une matière active, un liant et une matière conductrice, et présentant une couche de revêtement selon l’invention.
L’invention a trait également à un procédé de fabrication d’une électrode positive de batterie Li-ion, ledit procédé comprenant les opérations suivantes: fournir une cathode, déposer sur ladite cathode une couche de revêtement.
Un autre objet de l’invention est une batterie secondaire Li-ion comprenant une électrode négative, une électrode positive et un électrolyte tout solide, dans laquelle la cathode est telle que décrite ci-dessus.
La présente invention permet de surmonter les inconvénients de l’état de la technique. Elle fournit un revêtement conducteur ionique ayant une répartition homogène de sa constante diélectrique.
Dans le cadre de l’invention, le revêtement permet d’utiliser des électrodes positives sans électrolytes solides mélangés avec la matière active de la cathode. En effet, le revêtement peut être
appliqué directement sur une électrode positive usuelle ayant une porosité comprise entre 15 et 45% avant ou après calandrage. Ce revêtement permet alors d’avoir une séparation physique entre l’électrolyte solide et la matière active et ainsi permettre d’utiliser des électrolytes solides qui semblaient instable vis-à-vis de certaines matières actives. Ainsi la présente invention fournit une électrode positive comprenant une première couche consistant en une électrode positive usuelle et une seconde couche consistant en un revêtement de cathode selon la présente invention.
L’invention fournit un revêtement présentant un très bon compromis entre conductivité ionique, stabilité électrochimique, stabilité à haute température, et tenue mécanique.
DESCRIPTION DE MODES DE REALISATION DE L’INVENTION
L’invention est maintenant décrite plus en détail et de façon non limitative dans la description qui suit.
Selon un premier aspect, l’invention concerne un revêtement de cathode consistant en : a. un ou plusieurs poly(fluorure de vinylidène) (composant A), b. au moins un sel de lithium (composant B), et c. au moins un additif de conductivité (composant C).
Selon diverses réalisations, ledit revêtement comprend les caractères suivants, le cas échéant combinés. Les teneurs indiquées sont exprimées en poids, sauf si indiqué autrement.
Composant A
Le polymère fluoré semi-cristallin utilisé dans l'invention est un polymère à base de difluorure de vinylidène et est désigné génériquement par l’abréviation PVDF.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un poly(fluorure de vinylidène) homopolymère ou un mélange d’homopolymères de fluorure de vinylidène.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un poly(fluorure de vinylidène) homopolymère ou un copolymère du difluorure de vinylidène avec au moins un comonomère compatible avec le difluorure de vinylidène.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est semi-cristallin.
Les comonomères compatibles avec le difluorure de vinylidène peuvent être halogénés (fluorés, chlorés ou bromés) ou non-halogénés.
Des exemples de comonomères fluorés appropriés sont : le fluorure de vinyle, le tétrafluoroéthylène, l’hexafluoropropylène, les trifluoropropènes et notamment le 3,3,3- trifluoropropène, les tétrafluoropropènes et notamment le 2,3,3,3-tétrafluoropropène ou le 1, 3,3,3- tétrafluoropropène, l’hexafluoroisobutylène, le perfluorobutyléthylène, les pentafluoropropènes et notamment le 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropène ou le 1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropène, les
perfluoroalkylvinyléthers et notamment ceux de formule générale Rf-O-CF-CF2, Rf étant un groupement alkyle, de préférence en Cl à C4 (des exemples préférés étant le perfluoropropyl vinyléther et le perfluorométhylvinyléther).
Le comonomère fluoré peut comporter un atome de chlore ou de brome. Il peut en particulier être choisi parmi le bromotrifluoroéthylène, le chlorofluoroethylène, le chlorotrifluoroéthylène et le chlorotrifluoropropène. Le chlorofluoroéthylène peut désigner soit le 1 -chloro- 1 -fluoroéthylène, soit le l-chloro-2 -fluoroéthylène. L’isomère 1 -chloro- 1 -fluoroéthylène est préféré. Le chlorotrifluoropropène est de préférence le l-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropène ou le 2-chloro-3,3,3- trifluoropropène.
Le copolymère de VDF peut aussi comprendre des monomères non halogénés tels que l’éthylène, et/ou des comonomères acryliques ou méthacryliques.
Le polymère fluoré contient de préférence au moins 50 % en moles difluorure de vinylidène.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un copolymère de fluorure de vinylidène (VDF) et d’hexafluoropropylène (HFP)) (P(VDF-HFP)), ayant un pourcentage en poids d'unités monomères d'hexafluoropropylène de 2 à 23 %, de préférence de 4 à 15 % en poids par rapport au poids du copolymère.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un mélange d’un poly(fluorure de vinylidène) homopolymère et d’un copolymère de VDF-HFP.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un copolymère de fluorure de vinylidène et de tétrafluoroéthylène (TFE).
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un copolymère de fluorure de vinylidène et de chlorotrifluoroéthylène (CTFE).
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un terpolymère de VDF-TFE-HFP. Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un terpolymère VDF-TrFE-TFE (TrFE étant le trifluoroéthylène). Dans ces terpolymères, la teneur massique en VDF est d’au moins 10%, les comonomères étant présents en proportions variables.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF est un mélange de deux ou plusieurs copolymères VDF-HFP.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le PVDF comprend des unités monomères portant au moins l’une des fonctions suivantes: acide carboxylique, anhydride d’acide carboxylique, esters d’acide carboxylique, groupes époxy (tel que le glycidyle), amide, hydroxyle, carbonyle, mercapto, sulfure, oxazoline, phénoliques, ester, éther, siloxane, sulfonique, sulfurique, phosphorique, ou phosphonique. La fonction est introduite par une réaction chimique qui peut être du greffage, ou une copolymérisation du monomère fluoré avec un monomère portant au moins un desdits groupes fonctionnels et une fonction vinylique capable de copolymériser avec le monomère fluoré, selon des techniques bien connues par l’homme du métier.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le groupement fonctionnel est porteur d’une fonction acide carboxylique qui est un groupe de type acide (méth)acrylique choisi parmi l’acide acrylique, l’acide méthacrylique, hydroxyéthyl(méth) acrylate, hydroxypropyl(méth) acrylate et hydroxyéthylhexyl(méth)acrylate.
Selon un mode de réalisation, les unités portant la fonction acide carboxylique comprennent en outre un hétéroatome choisi parmi l’oxygène, le soufre, l’azote et le phosphore.
Selon un mode de réalisation, la fonctionnalité est introduite par l’intermédiaire de l’agent de transfert utilisé lors du procédé de synthèse. L’agent de transfert est un polymère de masse molaire inférieure ou égale à 20000 g/mol et porteur de groupes fonctionnels choisis parmi les groupes : acide carboxylique, anhydride d’acide carboxylique, esters d’acide carboxylique, les groupes époxy (tel que le glycidyle), amide, hydroxyle, carbonyle, mercapto, sulfure, oxazoline, phénoliques, ester, éther, siloxane, sulfonique, sulfurique, phosphorique, ou phosphonique. Un exemple d’agent de transfert de ce type sont les oligomères d’acide acrylique.
La teneur en groupes fonctionnels du PVDF est d’au moins 0,01% molaire, de préférence d’au moins 0,1 % molaire, et au plus de 15% molaire, de préférence au plus 10% molaire.
Le PVDF a de préférence un poids moléculaire élevé. Par poids moléculaire élevé, tel qu'utilisé ici, on entend un PVDF ayant une viscosité à l'état fondu supérieure à 100 Pa.s, de préférence supérieure à 500 Pa.s, plus préférablement supérieure à 1000 Pa.s, avantageusement supérieure à 2000 Pa.s. La viscosité est mesurée à 232°C, à un gradient de cisaillement de 100 s 1 à l’aide d’un rhéomètre capillaire ou d’un rhéomètre à plaques parallèles, selon la norme ASTM D3825. Les deux méthodes donnent des résultats similaires.
Les PVDF homopolymères et les copolymères de VDF utilisés dans l’invention peuvent être obtenus par des méthodes de polymérisation connues comme la polymérisation en émulsion.
Selon un mode de réalisation, ils sont préparés par un procédé de polymérisation en émulsion en l’absence d’agent tensioactif fluoré.
La polymérisation du PVDF aboutit à un latex ayant généralement une teneur en solides de 10 à 60 % en poids, de préférence de 10 à 50 %, et ayant une taille de particule moyenne en poids inférieure à 1 micromètre, de préférence inférieure à 1000 nm, de préférence inférieure à 800 nm, et plus préférablement inférieure à 600 nm. La taille moyenne en poids des particules est généralement d'au moins 10 nm, de préférence d'au moins 50 nm, et avantageusement la taille moyenne est comprise dans la gamme de 100 à 400 nm. Les particules de polymère peuvent former des agglomérats, appelés particules secondaires, dont la taille moyenne en poids est inférieure à 5000 pm, de préférence inférieure à 1000 pm, avantageusement comprise entre 1 à 80 micromètres, et de préférence de 2 à 50 micromètres. Les agglomérats peuvent se briser en particules discrètes pendant la formulation et l'application sur un substrat.
Selon certains modes de réalisation, le PVDF homopolymère et les copolymères de VDF sont composés de VDF biosourcé. Le terme « biosourcé » signifie « issu de la biomasse ». Ceci permet d’améliorer l’empreinte écologique de la membrane. Le VDF biosourcé peut être caractérisé par une teneur en carbone renouvelable, c’est-à-dire en carbone d’origine naturelle et provenant d’un biomatériau ou de la biomasse, d'au moins 1 % atomique comme déterminé par la teneur en 14C selon la norme NF EN 16640. Le terme de « carbone renouvelable » indique que le carbone est d’origine naturelle et provient d'un biomatériau (ou de la biomasse), comme indiqué ci-après. Selon certains modes de réalisation, la teneur en bio-carbone du VDF peut être supérieure à 5%, de préférence supérieure à 10%, de préférence supérieure à 25%, de préférence supérieure ou égale à 33%, de préférence supérieure à 50%, de préférence supérieure ou égale à 66%, de préférence supérieure à 75%, de préférence supérieure à 90%, de préférence supérieure à 95%, de préférence supérieure à 98%, de préférence supérieure à 99%, avantageusement égale à 100%.
Composant B
A titre d’exemples non limitatifs, le sel de lithium (ou les sels de lithium) sont choisis parmi le LiPFe (hexafluorophosphate de lithium), le LiFSI (bis(fluorosulfonyl)imidure de lithium), le TFSI (bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imidure de lithium, le LiTDI (2-trifluorométhyl-4,5-dicyano- imidazolate de lithium), le LiPOFz, le LiBttALL. Ie Lil^BtC ALL. le LiBF4, le LiNOs, le LiCICL et les mélanges de deux ou plusieurs des sels cités.
Composant C
L’additif de conductivité peut être une molécule organique ou un mélange de molécules organiques capable de gonfler le polymère fluoré sans le dissoudre et avoir une constante diélectrique supérieure à 1. Selon un mode de réalisation, le composant C est choisi parmi les éthers linéaires ou cycliques, les esters, les lactones, les nitriles, les carbonates et les liquides ioniques.
A titre d’exemples non limitatifs, parmi les éthers, on peut citer les éthers linéaires ou cycliques, tels que par exemple le diméthoxyé thane (DME), les éthers méthyliques des oligoéthylène glycols de 2 à 5 unités oxyéthylènes, le dioxolane, le dioxane, le dibutyle éther, le tétrahydrofurane, et leurs mélanges.
Parmi les esters, on peut citer les esters d’acide phosphorique ou les esters de sulfite. On peut par exemple citer le formate de méthyle, l’acétate de méthyle, le propionate de méthyle, l’acétate d’éthyle, l’acétate de butyle, la gamma butyrolactone ou leurs mélanges.
Parmi les lactones, on peut notamment citer la cyclohexanone.
Parmi les nitriles, on peut citer par exemple F acétonitrile, le pyruvonitrile, le propionitrile, le méthoxypropionitrile, le diméthylaminopropionitrile, le butyronitrile, l’isobutyronitrile, le
valéronitrile, le pivalonitrile, l’isovaléronitrile, le glutaronitrile, le méthoxyglutaronitrile, le 2- méthylglutaronitrile, le 3-méthylglutaronitrile, 1’ adiponitrile, le malononitrile, et leurs mélanges.
Parmi les carbonates, on peut citer par exemple les carbonates cycliques tels que par exemple le carbonate d’éthylène (EC) (CAS : 96-49-1), le carbonate de propylène (PC) (CAS : 108-32-7), le carbonate de butylène (BC) (CAS : 4437-85-8), le carbonate de diméthyle (DMC) (CAS : 616-38- 6), le carbonate de diéthyle (DEC) (CAS : 105-58-8), le carbonate de méthyle éthyle (EMC) (CAS : 623-53-0), le carbonate de diphényle(CAS 102-09-0), le carbonate de méthyle phényle (CAS : 13509-27-8), le carbonate de dipropyle (DPC) (CAS : 623-96-1), le carbonate de méthyle et de propyle (MPC) (CAS : 1333-41-1), le carbonate d’éthyle et de propyle (EPC), le carbonate de vinylène (VC) (CAS : 872-36-6), le fluoroéthylène carbonate (EEC) (CAS : 114435-02-8), le trifluoropropylène carbonate (CAS : 167951-80-6) ou leurs mélanges.
Parmi les liquides ioniques, on peut notamment citer le EMIM:FSi, le PYR:FSI, le EMIM:TFSI, le PYR:TFSI, EMIM:B0B, le PYR:BOB, le EMIM :TDI, le PYR:TDI, le EMIM :BF4, le PYR :BF4.
La composition massique du revêtement de cathode selon l’invention est :
- Composant A avec un ratio massique compris entre 20 et 80%;
- Composant B avec un ratio massique compris entre 1 et 40% ;
- Composant C avec un ratio massique compris entre 2 et 50% ; la somme de ces ratios étant 100%.
L’invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication du revêtement de cathode décrit ci-dessus à partir d’une encre obtenue en mélangeant tous les constituants du revêtement dans un solvant.
Les encres permettant de faire les revêtements peuvent être réalisées par tout type de mélangeur connu par l’homme de l’art tel qu’un mélangeur planétaire, centrifuge, mélangeur orbital, un arbre d’agitateur, un ultrathurax. Les différents constituants de l’encre ne sont pas ajoutés dans un ordre précis. La fabrication de l’encre peut être réalisé à différentes températures allant de la température ambiante jusqu’à la température d’ébullition du solvant utilisé pour fabriquer l’encre. Le solvant utilisé est de préférence un solvant polaire avec un paramètre de Hansen supérieur à 2. A titre d’exemple non limitatif, on peut notamment cité l’acétone, l’acétyl triéthyl citrate (ATEC), la y-butyrolactone (GBL), le cyclohéxanone (CHO), la cyclopentanone (CPO), le dibutyl phthalate (DBP), le dibutyl sébacate (DBS), le diéthyl carbonate (DEC), le diéthyl phthalate (DEP), le dihy drôle voglucosenone (Cyrene), le diméthylacétamide (DM Ac), le N,N-diméthylformamide
(DMF), le diméthylsulf oxide (DMSO), le 1,4-dioxane, la 3-Heptanone, le hexaméthyl phosphoramide (HMPA), la 3-héxanone, la méthyl éthyl cétone (MEK), la N-méthyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP), la 3-octanone, la 3-pentanone, le propylène carbonate (PC), le tétrahydrofurane (THF), la tétraméthylurée (TMU), la triacétine, le triéthyl citrate (TEC), le triéthyl phosphate (TEP), le triméthyl phosphate (TMP), la N, N' tétrabutylsuccindiamide (TBSA) ou un mélange de deux ou plusieurs des solvants cités.
Selon un mode de réalisation, la porosité de la cathode revêtue selon l’invention est inférieure à 10%, de préférence inférieure à 5%.
La porosité de l’électrode revêtue (ER) est obtenue selon le calcul suivant décrit dans la publication de M.CAI, Nature Communications, 10, 2019, 4597:
où VER représente le volume réel de l’électrode revêtue et calculé en multipliant la surface de l’électrode revêtue avec l’épaisseur de l’électrode revêtue. VdenseER représente le volume occupé par chacun des constituants sans aucune porosité et est calculé selon la formule suivante :
VdenseER est la somme du volume occupé par chaque constituent de l’électrode revêtue.
L’épaisseur de ce revêtement peut aller de 0,1 à 100 pm, préférentiellement de 0,1 à 50 um et plus préférentiellement de 0,1 à 35 pm.
L’invention concerne aussi une cathode pour batterie lithium-ion tout solide, ladite cathode comprenant, de préférence consistant en, une matière active, un liant et une matière conductrice, et présentant une couche de revêtement selon l’invention. Ladite cathode est déposé sur un support métallique. Ladite cathode forme ainsi une première couche sur ledit support métallique.
Selon un mode de réalisation, la matière active à l’électrode positive est choisie parmi le dioxyde de manganèse (MnCL), l’oxyde de fer, l’oxyde de cuivre, l’oxyde de nickel, les oxydes composites lithium-manganèse (par exemple LixMmCh ou LixMnCL), les oxydes compositions lithium-nickel (par exemple LixNiCL), les oxydes compositions lithium-cobalt (par exemple LixCoCL), les oxydes composites lithium-nickel-cobalt (par exemple LiNii-yCoyCL), les oxydes composites lithium-nickel-cobalt-manganèse (par exemple LiNixMnyCozO2 avec x+y+z = 1), les oxydes composites lithium-nickel-cobalt-manganèse enrichis en lithium (par exemple Lii+x(NixMnyCoz)i-xO2), les oxydes composites de lithium et de métal de transition, les oxydes composites de lithium-manganèse-nickel de structure spinelle (par exemple LixMm.yNiyCL). les oxydes composites haut voltage de nickel-manganèse (par exemple LiMni^Nio.s-XxCh (X =
Al,Fe,Cr,Co,Rh,Nd, autres terres rares avec 0<x<0,l) les oxydes de vanadium, du souffre de type Ss et leurs mélanges.
La matière conductrice électronique est choisie parmi les noirs de carbones, les graphites, naturel ou de synthèse, les fibres de carbone, les nanotubes de carbone, les fibres et poudres métalliques, et les oxydes métalliques conducteurs. Préférentiellement, elles sont choisies parmi les noirs de carbone, les graphites, naturel ou de synthèse, les fibres de carbone et les nanotubes de carbone.
Le liant utilisé pour fabriquer la cathode est un polymère choisi parmi les polyoléfines (par exemple : polyéthylène ou polypropylène), les polymères fluorés (PVDF) pouvant présentés des fonctions acides, les polyacides acryliques (PAA), les polyacrylonitriles (PAN), des polymères de type cellulose, le polyphénylsulfone, le polyéthersulfone, une résine phénolique, une résine vinylester, une résine époxyde, ou un polymère cristal-liquide.
Au niveau de la cathode, ce revêtement est stable électrochimiquement jusqu’ à 5 V.
De préférence, ladite cathode formant ladite première couche comprend moins de 3% en poids, avantageusement moins de 1% en poids, de préférence moins de 0,5% en poids, plus préférentiellement moins de 0,1% en poids, en particulier est dépourvu d’électrolyte solide sur base du poids total de ladite cathode ; ledit électrolyte solide étant préférentiellement présent dans ladite couche de revêtement selon la présente invention.
L’invention a trait également à un procédé de fabrication d’une électrode positive de batterie Li-ion, ledit procédé comprenant les opérations suivantes: fournir une cathode, déposer sur ladite cathode une couche de revêtement selon l’invention.
Ce revêtement peut être réalisé par toutes méthodes de dépôt connues par l’homme de l’art telles que l’enduction en voie solvant, des méthodes de trempage -retrait, d’enduction centrifuge, d’enduction par spray ou par calandrage. Ces techniques de dépôt peuvent être réalisées à différentes température pouvant aller de 5°C jusqu’à 180°C.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le revêtement peut être appliqué directement sur une électrode positive usuelle ayant une porosité comprise entre 15 et 45% avant ou après calandrage. Ce revêtement permet alors d’avoir une séparation physique entre l’électrolyte solide et la matière active et ainsi permettre d’utiliser des électrolytes solides qui semblaient instable vis-à-vis de certaines matières actives.
Selon un mode de réalisation, le procédé de fabrication d’une électrode positive de batterie Li-ion comprend, en amont du dépôt du revêtement selon l’invention, les étapes suivantes :
- mélange de la charge active, du liant polymère et de la charge conductrice à l’aide d’un procédé qui permet d’obtenir une formulation d’électrode applicable sur un support métallique;
- dépôt de ladite formulation d’électrode sur le substrat métallique,
- la consolidation de ladite électrode par un traitement thermique (application d’une température allant jusqu’à 50°C au-dessus de la température de fusion du polymère, sans pression mécanique), et/ou traitement thermo-mécanique tel que le calandrage.
Les supports métalliques des électrodes sont généralement en aluminium pour la cathode. Les supports métalliques peuvent être traités en surface et avoir un primaire conducteur d’une épaisseur de 5pm ou plus. Les supports peuvent également être des tissés ou des non-tissés en fibre de carbone.
Ainsi l’électrode positive comprend un support métallique sur lequel est déposé une première couche comprenant, de préférence consistant en, une matière active, un liant et une matière conductrice, et une seconde couche déposée sur ladite première couche ; ladite seconde couche consistant en ledit revêtement de cathode selon la présente invention.
Un autre objet de l’invention est une batterie secondaire Li-ion tout solide comprenant une électrode négative, une électrode positive et un électrolyte tout solide, dans laquelle la cathode est telle que décrite ci-dessus.
EXEMPLES
Les exemples suivants illustrent de façon non limitative la portée de l’invention.
Préparation solution polymère fluoré (PF)
On dissout 14,992 g de copolymère de VDF-HFP avec un taux massique d’HFP de 23% dans 85,753 g d’acétone à l’aide d’un mélangeur planétaire à 2000 rpm pendant six fois 1 min pour avoir une dissolution complète.
Préparation de l’encre I pour revêtement : PF/LiFSI 80/20
On dissout 0,393 g de LiFSI dans 9,683 g de la solution polymère (PF). Fa solution est agitée à l’aide d’un barreau magnétique à 21 °C pendant 30 min.
Préparation de l’encre II pour revêtement : PF/EiFSPSl 60/20/20
On dissout 0,441 g de EiFSI dans 0,449 g d’éther diméthylique de tétraéthylèneglycol (Cas 143-24- 8) à l’aide d’un agitateur magnétique pendant 10 min à 21°C. Puis on ajoute 8,826 g d’une solution PF à 15% dans l’acétone.
Préparation de l’encre III pour revêtement : PF/EiFSPMPCN 60/20/20
On dissout 0,3986 g de LiFSI dans 0,3986 g de méthoxypropionitrile (Cas 110-67-8) à l’aide d’un agitateur magnétique pendant 10 min à 21 °C. Puis on ajoute 7,972 g d’une solution de PF à 15% dans l’acétone.
Préparation de l’encre IV pour revêtement PF/LiFSUSl 40/30/30
On dissout 0,528 g de LiFSI dans 0,528 g d’éther diméthylique de tétraéthylèneglycol (Cas 143-24- 8) à l’aide d’un agitateur magnétique pendant 10 min à 21°C. Puis on ajoute 4,675 g d’une solution PF à 15% dans l’acétone.
Préparation de l’encre V pour revêtement PF/LiFSI/Sl 50/15/35
On dissout 0,264 g de LiFSI dans 0,616 g d’éther diméthylique de tétraéthylèneglycol Sl(Cas 143- 24-8) à l’aide d’un agitateur magnétique pendant 10 min à 21°C. Puis on ajoute 3,52 g d’une solution PF à 25% dans l’acétone.
Revêtement d’une cathode poreuse de NMC622 par l’encre I :
Une cathode de NMC622 avec la formulation suivante NMC622/HSV1810/C45 97/1,5/1,5 est revêtue par l’encre B. L’électrode avant revêtement présente une porosité moyenne de 44% et une densité de 2,51 g/cm3. Le revêtement est réalisé par enduction. Après séchage à température ambiante, le revêtement représente un poids de 18,04 mg/cm2 ce qui permet au revêtement de combler toute la porosité de l’électrode. La conductivité ionique de l’électrode a été mesurée par spectroscopie d’impédance à 0,033 mS/cm.
Revêtement d’une cathode poreuse de NMC 532 par l’encre V
Une cathode commerciale de NMC532 d’une épaisseur de 71pm est revêtue par l’encre V à l’aide d’un bar coater. L’épaisseur humide déposée est de 200 pm. Le revêtement est séché à l’aide d’un chauffage à 35°C. L’électrode revêtue est ensuite calandrée pour atteindre une épaisseur totale de 91pm.
Test de puissance :
Un test de puissance a été réalisé pour comparer une électrode revêtue avec l’encre V par apport à une électrode standard.
Méthode : la méthode consiste à charger une batterie à un régime lent de C/10 et de la décharger à différents régimes et ainsi de mesurer la capacité pouvant être restituée par la batterie à différentes vitesses de décharge.
Système utilisé :
Cathode : Electrode revêtue ou non
Electrolyte : IM LiPFô dans EC/EMC 3/7 en volume
Séparateur en fibre de verre Anode : Lithium métal
Le tableau 1 montre la capacité restituée en décharge par les deux batteries pour deux régimes différents.
Claims
1. Revêtement de cathode consistant en : a. au moins un poly(fluorure de vinylidène) (PVDF)(composant A), b. au moins un sel de lithium (composant B), et c. au moins un additif de conductivité (composant C).
2. Revêtement selon la revendication 1, dans lequel ledit composant A choisi parmi les poly(fluorure de vinylidène) homopolymères et les copolymères du difluorure de vinylidène avec au moins un comonomère choisi dans la liste : fluorure de vinyle, tétrafluoroéthylène, hexafluoropropylène, 3,3,3-trifluoropropène, 2, 3,3,3- tétrafluoropropène, 1 ,3,3,3-tétrafluoropropène, hexafluoroisobutylène, perfluorobutyléthylène, 1 ,1 ,3,3,3-pentafluoropropène, 1 ,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropène, perfluoropropylvinyléther, perfluorométhylvinyléther, bromotrifluoroéthylène, chlorofluoroethylène, chlorotrifluoroéthylène, chlorotrifluoropropène, éthylène, et leurs mélanges.
3. Revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 et 2, dans lequel le PVDF comprend des unités monomères portant au moins l’une des fonctions suivantes: acide carboxylique, anhydride d’acide carboxylique, esters d’acide carboxylique, groupes époxy (tel que le glycidyle), amide, hydroxyle, carbonyle, mercapto, sulfure, oxazoline, phénoliques, ester, éther, siloxane, sulfonique, sulfurique, phosphorique, ou phosphonique.
4. Revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 et 3, dans lequel ledit composant B est choisi parmi le LiPFô (hexafluorophosphate de lithium), le LiFSI (bis(fluorosulfonyl)imidure de lithium), le TFSI (bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imidure de lithium, le LiTDI (2-trifluorométhyl-4,5-dicyano-imidazolate de lithium), le LiPOF2, le LiB(C2O4)2, le LiF2B(C2O4)2, le LiBF4, le LiNO3, le LiC104 et les mélanges de deux ou plusieurs des sels cités.
5. Revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 à 4, dans lequel le composant C est choisi parmi les éthers linéaires ou cycliques, les esters, les lactones, les nitriles, les carbonates et les liquides ioniques.
6. Revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 à 5, ayant une épaisseur allant de 0,1 à 100 pm, préférentiellement de 0,1 à 50 pm et plus préférentiellement de 0,1 à 35 pm.
Revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 à 6, ayant la composition massique suivante :
Composant A avec un ratio compris entre 20 et 80%,
Composant B avec un ratio compris entre 1 et 40%, Composant C avec un ratio compris entre 2 et 50%, la somme de ces ratios étant 100%. Procédé de fabrication du revêtement de cathode selon l’une des revendications 1 à 7 à partir d’une encre obtenue en mélangeant tous les constituants du revêtement dans un solvant. Procédé selon la revendication 8, dans lequel ledit solvant est : choisi dans la liste : l’acétone, l’acétyl triéthyl citrate, la y-butyrolactone, le cyclohéxanone, la cyclopentanone, le dibutyl phthalate, le dibutyl sébacate, le diéthyl carbonate, le diéthyl phthalate, le dihydrolevoglucosenone, le diméthylacétamide, le N,N-diméthylformamide, le diméthylsulf oxide, le 1,4-dioxane, la 3-Heptanone, le hexaméthyl phosphoramide, la 3-héxanone, la méthyl éthyl cétone, la N-méthyl-2-pyrrolidinone, la 3-octanone, la 3-pentanone, le propylène carbonate, le tétrahydrofurane, la tétraméthylurée, la triacétine, le triéthyl citrate, le triéthyl phosphate, le triméthyl phosphate, la N, N' tétrabutylsuccindiamide et leurs mélanges. Cathode pour batterie lithium-ion tout solide, ladite cathode consistant en une matière active, un liant et une matière conductrice, et présentant une couche de revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 à 7. Cathode selon la revendication 10, dans laquelle ladite matière active est choisie parmi le dioxyde de manganèse, l’oxyde de fer, l’oxyde de cuivre, l’oxyde de nickel, les oxydes composites lithium-manganèse, les oxydes compositions lithium-nickel, les oxydes compositions lithium-cobalt, les oxydes composites lithium-nickel-cobalt, les oxydes composites lithium-nickel-cobalt-manganèse, les oxydes composites lithium-nickel- cobalt-manganèse enrichis en lithium, les oxydes composites de lithium et de métal de transition, les oxydes composites de lithium-manganèse-nickel de structure spinelle, les oxydes composites haut voltage de nickel-manganèse, les oxydes de vanadium, du souffre du type S s et leurs mélanges.
15 Cathode selon l’une des revendications 10 et 11, dans laquelle ladite matière conductrice est choisie parmi les noirs de carbones, les graphites, naturel ou de synthèse, les fibres de carbone, les nanotubes de carbone, les fibres et poudres métalliques, et les oxydes métalliques conducteurs. Cathode selon l’une des revendications 10 à 12, dans laquelle ledit liant est un polymère choisi parmi les polyoléfines, les polymères fluorés, les polymères fluorés présentant des fonctions acides, les polyacides acryliques, les polyacrylonitriles, des polymères de type cellulose, le polyphénylsulfone, le polyéthersulfone, une résine phénolique, une résine vinylester, une résine époxyde, ou un polymère cristal-liquide. Cathode selon l’une des revendications 10 à 13, ayant une porosité inférieure à 10%, de préférence inférieure à 5%. Procédé de fabrication d’une électrode positive de batterie Li-ion, ledit procédé comprenant les opérations suivantes: fournir une cathode, déposer sur ladite cathode une couche de revêtement selon l’une des revendications 1 à 7. Batterie secondaire Li-ion tout solide comprenant une anode, une cathode selon l’une des revendications 10 à 14 et un électrolyte tout solide.
