본 명세서는 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법, 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법, 재활용된 폴리염화비닐 및 조성물에 관한 것이다.
플라스틱은 열 또는 압력에 의하여 다양한 모양으로 성형할 수 있고, 재질의 품질이 점점 좋아지고 있어 일상생활 전반의 물건을 플라스틱으로 대체하거나, 이를 사용한 새로운 물건이 개발되고 있다.
이러한 플라스틱은 편리하고 사용이 간편하여, 전세계적으로 비닐봉투, 페트병, 일회용품, 포장제품, 전자제품 등 플라스틱으로 만든 제품의 수요가 점차 증가하고 있다.
이렇게 사용되고 버려진 플라스틱은 소각하거나 매립되는 데, 소각하는 경우에는 인체에 유해한 오염물질이 많이 배출되므로, 버려진 플라스틱은 소각보다는 매립하게 된다.
그러나, 대부분의 플라스틱은 폐기 후 자연 분해에 오랜 시간이 소요되는 데, 매립되는 플라스틱의 양이 상당하기 때문에, 플라스틱 재활용에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다.
플라스틱 중에서, 폴리염화비닐(PVC)는 건축자재(파이프, 창틀 등), 전선피복, 합성피혁, 고무대야, 호스, 바닥재, 포장재, 의료용 수액 주머니, 장난감 등에서 많이 사용되고 있다. PVC를 포함하는 폐기물로부터 PVC를 재활용하기 위한 다양한 방법과 재활용과정에서 인류와 환경에 줄 수 있는 피해를 최소화할 수 있는 물질을 모색해야 한다.
본 명세서는 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법, 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법, 재활용된 폴리염화비닐 및 조성물을 제공한다.

이하에서 본 명세서에 대하여 상세히 설명한다.
본 명세서는 폐기물로부터 폴리염화비닐(PVC)를 추출하기 위해 사용 가능한 용매를 예측하여 분류하고 평가할 수 있는 파라미터를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 통해 PVC를 추출할 수 있는 새로운 용매를 발굴할 수 있다. 여기서, PVC를 추출할 수 있는 용매는 PVC를 폐기물로부터 추출하기 위해 사용되는 모든 용매를 의미하며, 구체적으로 PVC에 대해 용해도가 높아서 폐기물로부터 PVC를 녹여낼 수 있는 양용매뿐 아니라, PVC가 용해된 양용매로부터 PVC를 석출시켜 PVC를 수득시킬 수 있는 비용매도 포함할 수 있다. 또한 하나의 역할에 1 이상의 용매를 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 양용매로서 단독 용매를 사용할 수도 있고, 양용매로서 2 이상의 용매를 혼합하여 사용할 수 있으며, 이 경우 혼합용매 중 각 용매의 혼합비율, 즉 중량분율(Weight Fraction)을 고려하여 후술할 식 1에 대답하여 PVC swelling score값을 산출한다.

본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, 상기 식 1은 용매에 따른 PVC 용해도를 dipole moment, asphericity, dH 및 Polar Surface Area를 사용하여 표현했다. 용매 분자에 극성이 있는 경우 PVC와의 상호작용(interaction)이 증가하며, 용매 분자가 구형으로 존재할수록 같은 질량에 압축되어 존재하기 때문에 PVC 사슬 사이에 잘 침투할 수 있어 용해도를 증가시킬 수 있다. 한센 용해 파라미터의 수소결합 기여도는 용매 분자와 PVC 사이의 수소 결합이 증가하게 된다면 용해도가 증가함을 반영한다. Polar Surface Area의 경우 표면에 극성이 있는 부분이 노출되어 PVC 고분자와의 상호작용이 더 용이한지 나타낸다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, 상기 식 1은 PVC와 용매 사이의 용해도를 결정할 수 있는 인자를 온도 등 실험조건의 변수와 함께 고려한 용해도 점수를 의미한다. 상기 식 1은 PVC에 대한 용해도가 높을수록 값이 작다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, 상기 식 1의 값을 통해, 양용매와 비용매를 구분하는 기준값은 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1, 0.5, 0, -0.5, -1, -1.5, -2, -2.5 또는-3을 기준으로 양용매와 비용매를 구분할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 기준값 이하이면 양용매로 판단하고, 기준값 초과이면 비용매로 판단할 수 있다.

본 명세서의 일 실시상태의 식 1에서, dH는 한센 용해 파라미터의 수소결합 지표를 의미하고 Hansen Solubility Parameter라는 프로그램을 통해 예측값을 얻을 수 있다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태의 식 1에서, Polar Surface Area는 Fractional Polar Surface area로 표면에 극성이 있는 부분이 노출되는 정도를 나타내며, 표면에 극성 노출 정도가 클수록 PVC 고분자와의 상호작용이 더 용이하다. Polar Surface Area는 CORINA와 BIOVIA의 Discovery Studio에서 계산이 가능하다.
온도와 압력과 같은 공정 조건에 따라 x1, x2, x3 및 x4의 값이 조정할 수 있다. 온도가 올라가거나, 압력이 낮아질수록 용매 분자의 확산 속도는 증가하게 되며, 이에 따라 확산과 연관이 있는 x2 (용매 분자의 구형)이 더 의존성이 높아 증가할 수 있으며, 온도가 내려가거나 압력이 높아질수록 용매 확산 속도보다는 PVC와의 interaction이 더 중요하기 때문에 x1, x3, x4의 파라미터를 증가시킬 필요가 있다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, x1는 온도와 압력과 같은 공정 조건으로 결정되는 조절변수이다. x1는 0 내지 5의 실수이며, 구체적으로 0 내지 3의 실수이고, 더 구체적으로 0 내지 2의 실수이며, 바람직하게는 1.5일 수 있다. x1을 통해, PVC와 용매 분자와의 상호작용을 중요하게 고려할 수 있고, 공정 조건이 변경될 때, PVC와 용매 분자와의 상호작용의 기여도가 높아지면 식 1 내 Dipole 파라미터 값의 영향이 커지도록 x1값을 증가시키고, PVC와 용매 분자와의 상호작용의 기여도가 낮아지면 식 1 내 Dipole 파라미터 값의 영향이 줄어들도록 x1값을 줄일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 공정 조건의 온도가 높거나 압력이 낮아지면 분자의 확산이 증가하여 PVC와 용매 분자와의 상호작용의 기여도가 줄어들게 되어 식 1 내 Dipole 파라미터 값의 영향이 적어지도록 x1을 통해 조정해야 한다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, x2는 온도와 압력과 같은 공정 조건으로 결정되는 조절변수이다. x2는 0 내지 5의 실수이며, 구체적으로 0 내지 3의 실수이고, 더 구체적으로 0 내지 2의 실수이며, 바람직하게는 1.5일 수 있다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, x2는 Asphericity와 관련된 변수로서, Asphericity는 용매 분자의 단위 질량당 크기를 의미하며 구형으로 가까울수록 PVC에 침투하기 쉬워진다. 공정 조건이 변경될 때, PVC와 분자의 확산의 기여도가 높아지면 식 1 내 Asphericity 파라미터 값의 영향이 커지도록 x2값을 증가시키고, PVC와 분자의 확산의 기여도가 낮아지면 식 1 내 Asphericity 파라미터 값의 영향이 줄어들도록 x2값을 줄일 수 있다. 예를 들면, 공정 조건의 온도가 높거나 압력이 낮아지면 분자의 확산이 증가하여 용매 분자 운동이 활발하며, 이로 인하여 용매 분자가 PVC에 침투하기 용이해져 분자 확산 기여도가 더 중요해지므로 식 1 내 Asphericity 값의 영향이 커지도록 x2을 통해 조정해야 한다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, x3는 온도와 압력과 같은 공정 조건으로 결정되는 조절변수이다. x3는 0 내지 5의 실수이며, 구체적으로 0 내지 3의 실수이고, 더 구체적으로 0 내지 1의 실수이며, 바람직하게는 0.5일 수 있다. x3을 통해 PVC와 용매 분자와의 수소 결합을 중요하게 고려할 수 있고, 공정 조건이 변경될 때, 분자의 확산이 증가하여 PVC와 용매 분자와의 수소 결합의 기여도가 줄어들면 식 1 내 dH 파라미터 값의 영향이 적도록 x3값을 감소시키고, PVC와 용매 분자와의 수소 결합의 기여도가 증가하면 식 1 내 dH 파라미터 값의 영향이 커지도록 x3값을 증가시킬 수 있다. 예를 들면, 공정 조건의 온도가 높거나 압력이 낮아지면 분자의 확산이 증가하여 PVC와 용매 분자와의 수소 결합의 기여도가 줄어들게 되어 dH 파라미터 값의 영향이 줄어들도록 x3을 통해 조정해야 한다.

본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, 양용매의 비점은 70℃ 이상, 71℃ 이상, 72℃ 이상, 73℃ 이상, 74℃ 이상, 75℃ 이상, 76℃ 이상, 77℃ 이상, 78℃ 이상, 79℃ 이상, 80℃ 이상, 81℃ 이상, 82℃ 이상, 83℃ 이상, 84℃ 이상, 85℃ 이상, 86℃ 이상, 87℃ 이상, 88℃ 이상, 89℃ 이상, 90℃ 이상, 95℃ 이상 또는 100℃ 이상일 수 있다. 이 경우, 공정상 가열이 필요한 경우 가열 온도 이상의 비점을 가져 가열에 의해 양용매의 손실이 없어 유리하고, 휘발성이 어느 정도 조절되어 취급에 용이성이 있다. 이때, 양용매의 비점 상한치는 특별히 한정하지 않으나 비점이 너무 높으면 PVC추출 완료 후 건조하는 과정에서 건조에 필요한 에너지가 증가할 수 있으므로, 공정비용을 고려하여 양용매를 선택할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 양용매의 비점은 400℃ 이하, 350℃ 이하 또는 300℃ 이하일 수 있다.
본 명세서의 다른 실시상태는 상술한 용매의 스크리닝 방법을 이용하여 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매를 스크리닝하는 단계; 및

본 명세서의 일 실시상태에서, 상기 폴리염화비닐을 추출하는 단계는 상기 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물을 상기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 이하인 양용매와 접촉시키고 상기 폐기물 중 폴리염화비닐을 상기 양용매로 용해해 폴리염화비닐 용해액을 얻는 용해 공정을 포함할 수 있다.
본 명세서의 또 다른 실시상태는 상술한 용매의 스크리닝 방법을 이용하여 폴리염화비닐 추출용 양용매 및 비용매를 각각 1종을 선택하는 단계; 상기 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물을 상기 양용매와 접촉시키고 상기 폐기물 중 폴리염화비닐을 상기 양용매로 용해해 폴리염화비닐 용해액을 얻는 단계(이하, 용해 공정이라함); 및 상기 용해액을 상기 비용매와 접촉시킴으로써, 상기 용해액으로부터 폴리염화비닐을 석출시키는 단계(이하, 석출 공정이라함)를 포함하는 것인 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법을 제공한다.

본 명세서의 또 다른 실시상태는 상술한 조성물을 여과하여 수득한 재활용된 폴리염화비닐을 제공한다.
본 명세서의 또 다른 실시상태에서, 폐폴리염화비닐 재활용 조성물 내에서 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물로부터 상기 양용매에 의해 추출된 폴리염화비닐은 비용매에 의해 대부분의 폴리염화비닐이 석출되어 고체상태로 가라앉아 있을 수 있다. 이렇게 석출된 상태의 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 조성물을 여과하여 재활용된 폴리염화비닐을 수득할 수 있다.
본 명세서의 또 다른 실시상태에서, 재활용된 폴리염화비닐은 상기 조성물을 여과한 상태이거나, 여과 후 건조하여 여분의 용매들을 제거한 상태를 모두 포함한다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에 있어서, 상기 재활용된 폴리염화비닐은 폐기물로부터 유래된 첨가제를 포함한다. 이때, 상기 폐기물로부터 유래된 첨가제는 폐기물을 제조하기 위해 추가되었던 첨가제라면 특별히 한정하지 않으나, 예를 들면 가소제 등이 있다. 상기 재활용된 폴리염화비닐을 활용하여 제품을 생산 시 이미 가소제 등의 첨가제가 포함되어 있어 가소제 등의 첨가제를 넣지 않거나 첨가량을 줄일 수 있는 장점이 있다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에 있어서, 상기 폐기물은 PVC를 포함하고 있다면 특별히 한정하지 않으나, 예를 들면 PVC를 포함하는 건축자재(파이프, 창틀 등), 전선피복, 합성피혁, 고무대야, 호스, 바닥재, 포장재, 의료용 수액 주머니, 장난감 등일 수 있다.
본 명세서의 일 실시상태에 있어서, 상기 재활용된 폴리염화비닐은 용매 추출에 의해 추출된 PVC로서, 용매에 의한 추출 시 저분자량의 PVC들이 필터링되어 중합에 의해 제조된 PVC 또는 폐기물 내 PVC보다 평균분자량이 높아진다. 또한, PVC의 평균분자량이 변화하여 이의 유리전이온도(Tg), 용융온도(Tm) 등과 같이 평균분자량에 영향을 받는 동적 물성이 변화하므로, PVC의 평균분자량이 증가할수록 유리전이온도(Tg), 용융온도(Tm) 등의 동적 물성도 증가한다.
이하에서, 실시예를 통하여 본 명세서를 더욱 상세하게 설명한다. 그러나, 이하의 실시예는 본 명세서를 예시하기 위한 것일 뿐, 본 명세서를 한정하기 위한 것은 아니다.

하기 표 1의 용매에 대한 PVC swelling score값을 도출하여 표 1에 나타냈으며, 그 중 일부의 용매에 대한 PVC swelling score값을 도 1에 도시하였다. 이때, 25℃, 1 기압을 고려하여, x1은 1.5이고, x2는 1.5이며, x3는 0.5이고, x4는 0.25 로 결정했다.

PVC Swelling Score와 상기 #1 문헌의 실험값인 PVC swelling ratio (건조한 PVC 무게에서 용매에 넣은 후 실제로 늘어난 무게의 ratio, 용매 분자가 PVC 사이에 들어가서 swelling하는데 기여한 정도를 나타냄)의 상관관계를 살펴보면 제곱평균제곱근(Root mean square, R2)이 0.784로 나타난다. 따라서 PVC Swelling Score가 실험값을 잘 표현한다고 볼 수 있다.
또한, 도 2에는 상기 #1 문헌의 실험값인 PVC swelling ratio의 Log값과 해당 용매의 PVC Swelling Score값의 관계를 나타내었다.
상기 표 2를 통해, PVC Swelling Score는 용해도가 높을수록 값이 작아지며, #1문헌의 PVC swelling ratio는 swelling에 기여한 용매의 양이 많을수록 값이 커지므로, PVC Swelling Score가 #1문헌의 PVC swelling ratio의 경향성을 잘 반영하고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.
여기서, PVC swelling ratio는 상기 #1의 문헌 표 1의 값으로, 건조된 PVC의 부피와 용매에 넣은 후 건조된 PVC 부피와 Swelling에 참여한 용매 부피의 합을 계산하여 PVC 부피를 기준으로 Swelling된 PVC와 용매 부피가 차지하는 비율이 계산된 값이다.
[실험예]
PVC 폐기물 시료를 하기 표 3의 양용매에 첨가하여 상온에서 3시간 동안 120rpm으로 교반하여 용해액을 제조했다. 이후, 상기 용해액에 하기 표 3의 비용매를 드랍하여 PVC를 침전시켰다. 이때, 폐PVC:양용매:비용매의 중량비는 1:5:20이다.
비용매를 모두 드랍한 후 반응액을 필터로 여과하여 여과된 고체를 수득했다. 여과된 고체를 상기 비용매와 동일한 비용매로 추가 수세하고 건조하여 재생 PVC를 얻었다.

표 3에서 시료(g)는 처음 투입된 PVC 폐기물 시료의 중량을 의미한다.
표 3에서 사용된 용매들의 PVC swelling score값은 하기 표 4와 같다. 표 4의 PVC swelling score값을 참고하여 표 3을 살펴보면, dichloromethane의 경우 PVC swelling score가 cyclohexane이나, n,n-dimethylpropanamide보다 높아서 PVC가 swelling되는 정도가 떨어지기 때문에 회수율이 전반적으로 낮게 나오는 것을 확인할 수 있으며, n,n-dimethylpropanamide의 경우 PVC swelling ratio가 가장 좋은 것을 나타내기 때문에 전반적으로 회수율이 높은 것을 확인할 수 있다.

Claims (17)

  1. 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물로부터 상기 폴리염화비닐을 추출하기 위한 용매를 하기 식 1을 이용하여 스크리닝하는 단계를 포함하는 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법:

    상기 식 1에서,
    x1, x2, x3 및 x4는 각각 0 내지 5의 실수이고,
    Dipole은 용매 분자의 쌍극자 모멘트이며,
    Asphericity는 용매 분자의 비구면성이고,
    dH는 용매 분자의 수소결합에 대한 한센 용해 파라미터이며,
    Polar Surface Area는 Fractional polar surface area이다.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 이하인 용매 중 어느 하나의 용매를 폴리염화비닐에 대한 양용매로 선택하는 단계; 및
    상기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 초과인 용매 중 어느 하나의 용매를 폴리염화비닐에 대한 비용매로 선택하는 단계를 더 포함하는 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법.
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 양용매의 PVC swelling score값과 상기 비용매의 PVC swelling score값의 차이는 1.5 이상인 것인 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법.
  4. 청구항 2에 있어서, 상기 양용매의 비점은 85℃ 이상인 것인 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법.
  5. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 x1는 1.5이고, 상기 x2는 1.5이며, 상기 x3은 0.5이고, x4는 0.25인 것인 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매의 스크리닝 방법.
  6. 청구항 1 내지 5 중 어느 한 항에 의한 용매의 스크리닝 방법을 이용하여 폴리염화비닐 추출용 용매를 스크리닝하는 단계; 및
    상기 스크리닝된 용매를 이용하여, 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물로부터 상기 폴리염화비닐을 추출하는 단계를 포함하는, 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법.
  7. 청구항 6에 있어서, 상기 폴리염화비닐을 추출하는 단계는,
    상기 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물을 상기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 이하인 양용매와 접촉시키고 상기 폐기물 중 폴리염화비닐을 상기 양용매로 용해해 폴리염화비닐 용해액을 얻는 용해 공정; 및
    상기 용해액을 상기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 초과인 비용매와 접촉시킴으로써, 상기 용해액으로부터 폴리염화비닐을 석출시키는 석출 공정을 포함하는 것인 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법.
  8. 청구항 7에 있어서, 상기 용해 공정으로 얻어진 폴리염화비닐 용해액으로부터 고형분을 분리하는 분리 공정을 더 포함하는, 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법.
  9. 청구항 7에 있어서, 상기 석출 공정으로 석출된 폴리염화비닐을 린스하는 린스 공정을 더 포함하는, 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물의 재활용하는 방법.
  10. 청구항 1 내지 5 중 어느 한 항에 의해 스크리닝된 용매를 이용하여, 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물로부터 추출된 재활용된 폴리염화비닐.
  11. 청구항 10에 있어서, 상기 재활용된 폴리염화비닐은 폐기물로부터 유래된 첨가제를 포함하는 것인 재활용된 폴리염화비닐.
  12. 폴리염화비닐을 포함하는 폐기물로부터 추출된 폴리염화비닐;
    하기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 이하인 용매 중 어느 하나의 양용매; 및
    하기 식 1에 따른 PVC swelling score값이 0 초과인 용매 중 어느 하나의 비용매를 포함하는 폐폴리염화비닐 재활용 조성물:

  16. 청구항 12에 있어서, 상기 양용매는 n,n-dimethylacetamide, cyclopentanone, 2-pentanone, dioxane, nitrobenzene, ethylacetate, benzene, trichloroethylene, 1,2-dichloroethane, chloroform, cyclohexanone,
