Abstract
Description
100質量部のLiNi0.88Co0.09Al0.03O2と、1.0質量部のアセチレンブラック(AB)と、0.9質量部のポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)とを混合し、N-メチル-2-ピロリドン(NMP)を適量加えて、正極合剤スラリーを調製した。次に、当該正極合剤スラリーを、アルミニウム箔からなる帯状の正極集電体の両面に、4つの正極露出部が形成されるように塗布した。この塗布膜を乾燥した後、圧延し、所定の極板サイズに切断して、全長706mmの正極集電体の両面に正極合剤層が形成された正極を作製し、アルミニウム製の正極タブを各正極露出部に溶接した。正極の厚みバラツキが生じても、最も巻き終わり側の正極露出部を基準として所定の範囲に各正極露出部の少なくとも一部が含まれるように、正極露出部の長手方向の幅を巻き始め側から順に、22mm、18mm、12mm、8mmとした。最も巻き始め側の幅22mmの正極露出部には、封口体に溶接するために最も長い正極タブを溶接した。
95質量部の黒鉛と、5質量部のSiOと、1質量部のカルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)と、1質量部のスチレンブタジエンゴム(SBR)とを混合し、水を適量加えて、負極合剤スラリーを調製した。次に、当該負極合剤スラリーを、銅箔からなる帯状の負極集電体の両面に、巻き終わり側端部に負極露出部が形成されるように塗布した。この塗布膜を乾燥した後、圧延し、所定の極板サイズに切断して、全長959mmの正極集電体の両面に負極合剤層が形成された負極を作製し、ニッケル製の負極タブを負極露出部に溶接した。
ポリオレフィン系樹脂製のセパレータを介して上記の正極及び負極を巻回して電極体を作製した。電極体は、図4に示す例と同様に、正極露出部34aの露出部角度θ>正極露出部34bの露出部角度θ>正極露出部34cの露出部角度θ>正極露出部34dの露出部角度θの関係を満たしていた。
エチレンカーボネート(EC)と、ジメチルメチルカーボネート(DMC)とからなる混合溶媒(体積比でEC:DMC=1:3)の100質量部に、ビニレンカーボネート(VC)を5質量部添加した。当該混合溶媒に1.5モル/Lの濃度になるようにLiPF6を溶解させて、非水電解質を調製した。
上記電極体の上下に絶縁板をそれぞれ配置し、電極体を円筒形の外装缶に収容した。次いで、負極タブを外装缶の底部に溶接するとともに、正極タブ同士を溶接した後に最も長い正極タブを封口体に溶接した。その後、外装缶の内部に電解質を減圧方式により注入した後、外装缶の開口端部を、ガスケットを介して封口体にかしめるように封口して、二次電池を作製した。作製した二次電池の設計容量は、4850mAhである。
正極の作製において、正極の厚みバラツキが生じても、最も巻き始め側の正極露出部を基準として所定の範囲に各正極露出部の少なくとも一部が含まれるように、正極露出部の長手方向の幅を巻き始め側から順に8mm、12mm、26mm、53mmとしたこと以外は、実施例と同様にして二次電池を作製した。
実施例及び比較例の非水電解質二次電池を、環境温度25℃の下、1455mA(0.3C)の定電流で、4.2Vまで充電した後、4.2Vの定電圧で、電流値が97mA(0.02C)になるまで充電した。20分間放置した後、2425mA(0.5C)の定電流で、2.5Vまで放電し、この時の放電容量を電池容量とした。

- 互いに極性の異なる第1電極及び第2電極がセパレータを介して巻回された電極体と、電解液と、前記電極体及び前記電解液を収容する円筒形の外装缶とを備える非水電解質二次電池であって、
前記第1電極は、集電体と、前記集電体の表面の少なくとも一部に積層された合剤層と、を有し、
前記第1電極の表面には、前記電極体の巻回方向に沿って、前記集電体の露出した露出部が複数形成され、前記露出部の各々にはタブが接続され、
前記電極体の巻回中心に対する前記露出部の巻き始め側端部から巻き終わり側端部にかけての回転角度を露出部角度とした場合に、巻き始め側に位置する前記露出部の露出部角度は、巻き終わり側に位置する前記露出部の露出部角度よりも大きい、非水電解質二次電池。 - 前記第1電極は、正極である、請求項1に記載の非水電解質二次電池。
