Definitions
- the present invention relates to a new gas measuring device for measuring gas in the digestive organs of livestock.
- Ruminant animals such as cows have four stomachs, and the plants they eat are first digested in the first stomach (rumen). At that time, hydrogen and carbon dioxide are generated in the process of decomposition (fermentation) of carbohydrates such as plants by bacteria present in the rumen. From this hydrogen and carbon dioxide, archaebacteria called methanogens produce methane gas. The produced methane gas is released into the atmosphere as a burp. Methane gas is said to have a greenhouse effect more than 25 times that of carbon dioxide, and 20 to 30% of methane gas in the atmosphere is said to be caused by the belching of ruminants.
- Patent Literature 1 discloses a method of measuring exhalation with only the cow's head as a closed space.
- Patent Literature 2 discloses a method of creating an artificial rumen model to simulate digestion in an actual cow.
- Patent Literature 3 discloses a method of wirelessly measuring methane gas and the like by installing a device having a gas sensor in the stomach of a cow.
- the measurement method disclosed in Patent Document 1 is only a method for measuring exhaled breath, and in addition to gas such as methane gas generated in the lumen, gas from exhaled breath is also measured. There was a problem that the gas could not be measured accurately.
