본 발명(Disclosure)은, 전지셀 디개스 장치에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로, 전지셀이 위치하는 공정챔버 내부의 가스를 펌핑하는 펌핑 라인 상에 펌핑 가스량을 조절하기 위한 펌핑 바이패스라인을 구비하여 안정적인 펌핑압력커브를 형성함으로써, 전지셀의 가스 배출 시 전해액의 손실을 방지할 수 있는 전지셀 디개스 장치에 관한 것이다.
여기서는, 본 발명에 관한 배경기술이 제공되며, 이들이 반드시 공지기술을 의미하는 것은 아니다(This section provides background information related to the present disclosure which is not necessarily prior art).
리튬 이차전지는 형상에 따라 원통형 전지셀, 각형 전지셀, 파우치형 전지셀 등으로 구분할 수 있으며, 상기와 같은 요구에 따라 높은 집적도로 적층될 수 있고 중량당 에너지 밀도가 높으며 저렴하고 변형이 용이한 파우치형 전지셀이 많은 관심을 모으고 있다.
일반적으로 파우치형 이차전지는, 수지층, 금속층 및 열융착층의 라미네이트 구조로 이루어져 있는 파우치형 전지 케이스 내부에, 양극, 음극 및 이들 사이에 개재되는 분리막으로 이루어진 전극조립체를 장착한 상태에서, 전해액을 주입하고 활성화(formation) 과정을 포함하는 에이징(aging) 과정과, 활성화 과정에서 발생된 가스를 제거하는 디개스(degas) 과정을 수행하고, 케이스의 외주면을 따라 형성되어 있는 실링부를 밀봉하여 제조된다.
상술한 바와 같은 전지셀의 활성화 과정에서 전해액과의 부반응에 의해 전지셀 내부에 가스가 발생하여 스웰링 현상이 일어나게 되는데, 이러한 스웰링 현상이 지속되어 전지셀 내부 압력이 일정 수준 이상으로 증가하게 될 경우 전지셀이 폭파될 수 있기 때문에, 이와 같은 현상을 방지하기 위해 전지셀 내부의 가스를 제거하여 압력을 감소시키기 위한 디개스 과정이 필수적으로 요구된다.
도 1은 종래에 전지셀 내부의 가스를 제거하기 위한 전지셀 디개스 장치를 예시한 도면이고, 도 2는 종래의 전지셀 디개스 장치에서 압력 변화를 설명하기 위한 도면이다.
도 1 및 도 2를 참조하면, 전지셀 디개스 장치에서는 전지셀 내부의 가스를 제거하기 위해 대략 30초의 디개스 공정을 수행하게 되는데, 챔버(1)의 내부 기체를 진공펌프(2)를 이용하여 펌핑하게 되고, 압력제어밸브(3)를 단계적으로 오픈(open)시킨 후에, 단계적으로 클로우즈(close)하여 챔버(1)의 내부를 진공 상태로 만들면서 전지셀(4)의 활성화 과정에서 발생되는 가스들을 배출시킬 수 있다.
여기에서, 압력제어밸브(3)가 단계적으로 각각 오픈 및 클로우즈되어 완전히 폐쇄(full close)되더라도 압력제어밸브(3)의 내부 구성부인 날개(wing)틈에서 챔버(1) 내부의 가스가 펌핑이 되기 때문에, 챔버(1) 내부를 진공으로 만들어 전지셀(4)의 가스를 배출하기 위한 안정적인 초기 압력 커브(pressure curve)를 만들 수 없으며, VAC 충격(impact of vacuum-assisted closure)의 발생으로 인해 전지셀(4)의 가스뿐만 아니라 전지셀(4)의 전해액이 함께 배출되어 전지셀의 성능을 향상시키는 전해액의 손실이 발생되는 문제가 있다.
본 발명(Disclosure)은, 전지셀이 위치하는 공정챔버 내부의 가스를 펌핑하는 펌핑 라인 상에 펌핑 가스량을 조절하기 위한 펌핑 바이패스라인을 구비하여 안정적인 펌핑압력커브를 형성함으로써, 전지셀의 가스 배출 시 전해액의 손실을 방지할 수 있는 전지셀 디개스 장치의 제공을 일 목적으로 한다.
본 발명(Disclosure)은, 펌핑 바이패스라인에 가스량조절밸브를 구비하여 공정챔버를 진공 상태로 만들기 위한 가스 펌핑 초반에 펌핑압력커브를 안정적으로 형성함으로써, 전지셀의 활성화 과정에서 발생되는 가스를 배출하는 중에 전해액 손실을 미연에 방지할 수 있어 전지셀의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 전지셀 디개스 장치의 제공을 일 목적으로 한다.

도 3 내지 도 5를 참조하면, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 전지셀 디개스 장치는 공정챔버(110), 질량유량계(120), 진공펌프(130), 압력제어밸브(140), 제 1 개페밸브(150), 가스량조절밸브(160), 제 2 개폐밸브(170) 등을 포함할 수 있다.
공정챔버(110)는 활성화 공정 후의 전지셀(10)이 내부에 위치하는 것으로, 전해액이 충진되어 활성화 공정을 수행한 전지셀(10)이 공정챔버(110) 내부에 위치하며, 내부에 위치하는 전지셀(10)의 디개스 과정에서 내부 압력을 천천히 감소시킬 수 있도록 조절될 수 있다.
이러한 공정챔버(110)에는 전지셀(10)이 안착되는 하부 다이(112)와 하부 다이(112)에 안착된 전지셀(10)을 가압하는 상부 다이(114)가 구비될 수 있으며, 이러한 상부 다이를 통해 전지셀(10)을 가압하여 전지셀(10)의 내부 가스를 펌핑할 때 내부 가스의 배출을 원활하게 할 수 있다.
질량유량계(120)는 공정 챔버(110) 내부에 공기 또는 질소가스(N2)를 공급하는 것으로, 예를 들어 MFC(mass flow controller) 등을 포함하며, 입구와 출구의 온도차에 따라 유량을 계산하여 공정챔버(110) 내부로 공급되는 유량을 정확하게 조절할 수 있는데, 디개스 공정을 수행하는 중에 공정챔버(110) 내부를 안정적인 상태로 유지하기 위해서 공정챔버(110) 내부에 공기 또는 질소가스(N2)를 공급할 수 있다.
진공펌프(130)는 전지셀(10)과 펌핑 라인(P.L : pumping line)으로 연결되어 전지셀(10)의 내부 가스 배출을 위해 펌핑하는 것으로, 도 3에 도시한 바와 같은 제 1 실시예에서는 진공펌프(130)와 전지셀(10)은 공정챔버(110)의 내부에 위치하는 전지셀(10)의 실링부(12) 일부에 형성된 가스 배출구에 가스 배출수단(14, 예를 들면, 진공패드, 진공관 등)을 연결하여 밀폐된 상태로 펌핑 라인(P.L)과 연결됨으로써, 전지셀(10)의 내부를 감압하여 대략 1600 l/min 용량 이상으로 내부 가스를 펌핑할 수 있다.
또한, 도 4에 도시한 바와 같은 제 2 실시예에서는 진공펌프(130)와 전지셀(10)은 공정챔버(110)의 내부에 위치하는 전지셀(10)의 실링부(12) 일부에 형성된 가스 배출구는 공정챔버(110)의 내부와 연통되고, 공정챔버(130)와 펌핑 라인(P.L)이 연결됨으로써, 전지셀(10)의 내부 가스는 가스 배출구를 통해 공정챔버(110)의 내부로 배출되고, 공정챔버(110)의 감압으로 인해 공정챔버(110)의 내부 가스를 펌핑할 수 있다.
압력제어밸브(140)는 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에 구비되어 전지셀(10)의 내부 감압을 위해 개폐되는 것으로, 예를 들어 APC(adaptive pressure controller) 등을 포함하며, 설정된 압력값에 따라 개폐되어 진공펌프(130)를 통해 전지셀(10)의 가스를 펌핑함으로써, 전지셀(10)을 감압시킬 수 있다.
제 1 개폐밸브(150)는 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에 구비되어 펌핑 라인(P.L)을 개방하거나 폐쇄하는 것으로, 압력제어밸브(140)가 위치하는 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에 구비되어 압력제어밸브(140)를 이용한 감압 동작을 선택적으로 차단할 수 있다.
가스량조절밸브(160)는 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에 상기 압력제어밸브(140) 및 제 1 개폐밸브(150)를 우회하도록 구비되는 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L : pumping bypass line) 상에 구비되어 전해액 손실을 방지하기 위한 펌핑압력커브를 형성하도록 펌핑 가스량을 조절하는 것으로, 피에조밸브(162), 다이아프램밸브(164) 등을 포함할 수 있다.
여기에서, 피에조밸브(162)는 입력 전압(예를 들면, 0-10V 등)에 따라 변형되며, 다이아프램밸브(164)는 피에조밸브(162)의 변형에 따라 오픈되어 오픈량이 조절될 수 있다.
또한, 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L)의 라인파이프 직경이 펌핑 라인(P.L)보다 상대적으로 더 크게 구비(예를 들면, 펌핑 라인은 5Φ, 펌핑 바이패스라인은 10Φ 등)될 수 있는데, 유량은 단면적 값에 비례하기 때문에, 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L)에서 펌핑 라인(P.L)보다 상대적으로 더 많은 가스량을 펌핑할 수 있다.
이에 따라, 압력제어밸브(140)에서 설정된 압력값에 따라 가스를 펌핑하면서 가스량 조절밸브(160)에 구비된 피에조밸브(162)와 다이아프램밸브(164)를 통해 펌핑되는 펌핑 가스량을 조절함으로써, 펌핑압력커브에 따라 효과적으로 전지셀(10)의 가스를 펌핑할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같은 펌핑압력커브는 현재 압력이 최고 압력이면서 진공 압력이 최저 압력인 삼각함수 그래프 개형으로 나타나는데, 가스량조절밸브(160)에 구비되는 피에조밸브(162)와 다이아프램밸브(164)를 통해 초기 펌핑 시 현재 압력에서 완만한 하강곡선을 따라 감소하다가 진공상태까지 급격한 하강곡선을 따라 감소한 후에 다시 완만한 하강곡선을 갖는 펌핑압력커브가 나타나도록 펌핑 가스량이 조절됨으로써, 초기 펌핑 시 압력 감소를 펌핑압력커브에 따라 안정적으로 조절할 수 있다.
이러한 압력 감소를 펌핑압력커브에 따라 안정적으로 조절함으로써, 전지셀(10)의 감압으로 인해 배출되는 가스와 함께 배출될 수 있는 전해액 손실을 미연에 방지할 수 있다.
제 2 개폐밸브(170)는 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L) 상에 구비되어 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L)을 개방하거나 폐쇄하는 것으로, 가스량조절밸브(160)가 위치하는 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L) 상에 구비되어 가스량조절밸브(160)를 이용한 감압 동작을 선택적으로 차단할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같은 제 1 실시예에 따른 전지셀 디개스 장치에서의 디개스 과정에 대해 설명하면, 먼저, 활성화 공정이 완료된 전지셀(10)은 공정챔버(110)의 내부로 투입되어 하부다이(112)에 안착될 수 있다.
그리고, 공정챔버(110)의 내부의 하부다이(112)에 안착된 전지셀(10)은 실링부(12) 일부에 가스 배출구를 형성하고, 가스 배출구에 가스배출수단(14)을 결합한 후에, 펌핑 라인(P.L)의 일단에 연결시키고, 펌핑 라인(P.L)의 타단에는 진공 펌프(130)를 연결시킬 수 있다.
여기에서, 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에는 전지셀(10)의 내부를 감압하여 내부에 존재하는 가스를 펌핑하기 위해서 설정된 압력값에 따라 개폐되는 압력제어밸브(140)가 구비되고, 압력제어밸브(140)를 이용한 펌핑 동작을 선택적으로 차단하기 위한 제 1 개폐밸브(150)가 구비될 수 있다.
아울러, 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에는 압력제어밸브(140)와 제 1 개폐밸브(150)를 우회하기 위한 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L)이 연결되고, 그 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L) 상에는 입력 전압에 따라 변형되는 피에조밸브(162)에 따라 펌핑 가스량을 조절하기 위해 오픈량이 조절되는 다이아프램밸브(164)를 포함하는 가스량조절밸브(160)가 구비되고, 가스량조절밸브(160)를 이용한 펌핑 동작을 선택적으로 차단하기 위한 제 2 개폐밸브(170)가 구비될 수 있다.
이러한 상태에서, 안정적인 디개스 공정을 수행하기 위한 공정챔버(110) 내부 상태를 유지하기 위해 질량유량계(120)를 통해 공정챔버(110)의 내부에 공기 또는 질소가스의 유량을 조절하여 공급할 수 있다.
그리고, 진공펌프(130)를 작동시켜 펌핑 동작을 시작하면서 제 1 개폐밸브(150)를 개방하여 압력제어밸브(140)를 통해 입력 압력값에 따라 펌핑 라인(P.L)에 연결된 전지셀(10)의 내부 가스를 펌핑할 수 있다. 여기에서, 전지셀(10) 내부 가스의 원활한 배출을 위해 상부다이(114)를 통해 전지셀(10)을 가압할 수 있다.
이와 함께, 제 2 개폐밸브(170)를 개방하여 가스량조절밸브(160)를 통해 초기 펌핑 시 삼각함수 그래프 개형(예를 들어 초기에는 완만한 하강곡선을 나타내다가 중기에는 급격한 하강곡선을 나타낸 후 후기에는 완만한 하강곡선을 다시 나타냄)에 대응하는 펌핑압력커브를 형성할 수 있도록 입력 전압을 조절하여 밸브 오픈량을 조절함으로써, 펌핑 가스량을 원활하게 조절하여 진공 상태가 될 때까지 펌핑할 수 있다.
이 후에, 가스량조절밸브(160)를 조절하여 다른 삼각함수 그래프 개형(예를 들어 초기에는 완만한 상승곡선을 나타내다가 중기에는 급격한 상승곡선을 나타낸 후 후기에는 완만한 상승곡선을 다시 나타냄)에 대응하는 펌핑압력커브를 형성할 수 있도록 입력 전압을 조절하여 밸브 오픈량을 조절할 수 있다.
한편, 상술한 바와 같은 제 2 실시예에 따른 전지셀 디개스 장치에서의 디개스 과정에 대해 설명하면, 활성화 공정이 완료된 전지셀(10)은 공정챔버(110)의 내부로 투입되어 하부다이(112)에 안착될 수 있다.
그리고, 공정챔버(110)의 내부의 하부다이(112)에 안착된 전지셀(10)은 실링부(12) 일부에 가스 배출구를 형성하고, 공정챔버(110)의 내부와 연통되도록 펌핑 라인(P.L)의 일단에 연결시키고, 펌핑 라인(P.L)의 타단에는 진공 펌프(130)를 연결시킬 수 있다.
여기에서, 펌핑 라인(P.L) 상에는 제 1 실시예에서 설명한 바와 같은 압력제어밸브(140), 제 1 개폐밸브(150), 펌핑 바이패스라인(P.B.L), 가스량조절밸브(160), 제 2 개폐밸브(170) 등이 구비될 수 있다.
이러한 상태에서, 안정적인 디개스 공정을 수행하기 위한 공정챔버(110) 내부 상태를 유지하기 위해 질량유량계(120)를 통해 공정챔버(110)의 내부에 공기 또는 질소가스의 유량을 조절하여 공급할 수 있다.
그리고, 진공펌프(130)를 작동시켜 펌핑 동작을 시작하면서 제 1 개폐밸브(150)를 개방하여 압력제어밸브(140)를 통해 입력 압력값에 따라 펌핑 라인(P.L)에 연결된 진공챔버(110)의 내부 가스를 펌핑할 수 있다.
이 때, 전지셀(10)의 내부 가스는 가스 배출구를 통해 진공챔버(110)의 내부로 배출될 수 있는데, 상부다이(114)를 통해 전지셀(10)을 가압하여 진공챔버(110)의 내부로 전지셀(10)의 내부 가스를 원활하게 배출시킬 수 있다.
이와 함께, 제 2 개폐밸브(170)를 개방하여 가스량조절밸브(160)를 통해 초기 펌핑 시 삼각함수 그래프 개형(예를 들어 초기에는 완만한 하강곡선을 나타내다가 중기에는 급격한 하강곡선을 나타낸 후 후기에는 완만한 하강곡선을 다시 나타냄)에 대응하는 펌핑압력커브를 형성할 수 있도록 입력 전압을 조절하여 밸브 오픈량을 조절함으로써, 펌핑 가스량을 원활하게 조절하여 진공 상태가 될 때까지 펌핑할 수 있다.
이 후 과정은 상술한 바와 같은 제 1 실시예에 따른 전지셀 디개스 장치에서의 디개스 과정과 유사하므로 생략하기로 한다.
따라서, 본 발명은 전지셀이 위치하는 공정챔버 내부의 가스를 펌핑하는 펌핑 라인 상에 펌핑 가스량을 조절하기 위한 펌핑 바이패스라인을 구비하여 안정적인 펌핑압력커브를 형성함으로써, 전지셀의 가스 배출 시 전해액의 손실을 방지할 수 있다.
그리고, 본 발명은 펌핑 바이패스라인에 가스량조절밸브를 구비하여 공정챔버를 진공 상태로 만들기 위한 가스 펌핑 초반에 펌핑압력커브를 안정적으로 형성함으로써, 전지셀의 활성화 과정에서 발생되는 가스를 배출하는 중에 전해액 손실을 미연에 방지할 수 있어 전지셀의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명은 입력 전압에 따라 변형되는 피에조밸브를 이용하여 다이아프램밸브의 오픈량을 증가시키는 가스량조절밸브를 구비함으로써, 안정적인 초기 펌핑압력커브를 형성하여 전지셀의 디개스 공정을 효과적으로 수행할 수 있다.

- 활성화 공정 후의 전지셀이 내부에 위치하는 공정챔버;상기 전지셀과 펌핑 라인으로 연결되어 상기 전지셀의 내부 가스 배출을 위해 펌핑하는 진공펌프;상기 펌핑 라인 상에 구비되어 상기 전지셀의 내부 감압을 위해 개폐되는 압력제어밸브; 및상기 펌핑 라인 상에 상기 압력제어밸브 및 제 1 개폐밸브를 우회하도록 구비되는 펌핑 바이패스라인 상에 구비되어 전해액 손실을 방지하기 위한 펌핑압력커브를 형성하도록 펌핑 가스량을 조절하는 가스량조절밸브;를 포함하는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 가스량조절밸브는,입력 전압에 따라 변형되는 피에조밸브; 및상기 피에조밸브의 변형에 따라 오픈되어 오픈량이 조절되는 다이아프램밸브;를 포함하는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
- 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 펌핑 라인은, 상기 펌핑 라인을 개방하거나 폐쇄하는 제 1 개폐밸브;가 구비되는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 펌핑 바이패스라인은, 상기 펌핑 바이패스라인을 개방하거나 폐쇄하는 제 2 개폐밸브;가 구비되는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,상기 펌핑압력커브는, 현재 압력이 최고 압력이면서 진공 압력이 최저 압력인 삼각함수 그래프 개형으로 나타나는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 펌핑 바이패스라인은, 라인파이프 직경이 상기 펌핑 라인보다 상대적으로 더 크게 구비되는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 6 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 전지셀 디개스 장치는,상기 공정 챔버 내부에 공기 또는 질소가스(N2)를 공급하는 질량유량계;를 더 포함하는 전지셀 디개스 장치.
