Definitions
- the following description relates to a wireless communication system, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for measuring a location of a terminal using sidelink communication.
- Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication services such as voice and data.
- a wireless communication system is a multiple access system capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (bandwidth, transmission power, etc.).
- multiple access systems include a code division multiple access (CDMA) system, a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) system, a time division multiple access (TDMA) system, an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system, and a single carrier frequency (SC-FDMA) system.
- CDMA code division multiple access
- FDMA frequency division multiple access
- TDMA time division multiple access
- OFDMA orthogonal frequency division multiple access
- SC-FDMA single carrier frequency division multiple access
- division multiple access division multiple access
- MC-FDMA multi carrier frequency division multiple access
- RATs radio access technologies
- 5G is also included therein.
- the three main requirements areas of 5G are (1) Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) area, (2) Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) area, and (3) Ultra-reliability and It includes a low-latency communication (Ultra-reliable and Low Latency Communications, URLLC) area.
- eMBB Enhanced Mobile Broadband
- mMTC Massive Machine Type Communication
- URLLC Ultra-reliability and It includes a low-latency communication
- KPI key performance indicator
- 5G supports these various use cases in a flexible and reliable way.
- eMBB goes far beyond basic mobile Internet access and covers rich interactive work, media and entertainment applications in the cloud or augmented reality.
- Data is one of the key drivers of 5G, and it may not be possible to see dedicated voice services for the first time in the 5G era.
- voice is expected to be processed as an application program simply using the data connection provided by the communication system.
- the main reasons for the increased traffic volume are an increase in content size and an increase in the number of applications requiring high data rates.
- Streaming services (audio and video), interactive video and mobile Internet connections will become more widely used as more devices connect to the Internet. Many of these applications require always-on connectivity to push real-time information and notifications to the user.
- Cloud storage and applications are increasing rapidly on mobile communication platforms, which can be applied to both work and entertainment.
- cloud storage is a special use case that drives the growth of the uplink data rate.
- 5G is also used for remote work in the cloud and requires much lower end-to-end latency to maintain a good user experience when tactile interfaces are used.
- Entertainment For example, cloud gaming and video streaming is another key factor that is increasing the demand for mobile broadband capabilities. Entertainment is essential on smartphones and tablets anywhere, including high mobility environments such as trains, cars and airplanes.
- Another use case is augmented reality and information retrieval for entertainment.
- augmented reality requires very low latency and an instantaneous amount of data.
- one of the most anticipated 5G use cases relates to the ability to seamlessly connect embedded sensors in all fields, i.e. mMTC.
- mMTC massive machine type computer
- Industrial IoT is one of the areas where 5G plays a major role in enabling smart cities, asset tracking, smart utilities, agriculture and security infrastructure.
- 5G can complement fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and cable-based broadband (or DOCSIS) as a means of providing streams rated at hundreds of megabits per second to gigabits per second. This high speed is required to deliver TVs in 4K or higher (6K, 8K and higher) resolutions, as well as virtual and augmented reality.
- Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications involve almost immersive sports events.
- Certain application programs may require special network settings. For example, for VR games, game companies may need to integrate core servers with network operators' edge network servers to minimize latency.
- Automotive is expected to be an important new driving force in 5G, with many use cases for mobile communication to vehicles. For example, entertainment for passengers demands simultaneous high capacity and high mobility mobile broadband. The reason is that future users will continue to expect high-quality connections, regardless of their location and speed.
- Another use case in the automotive field is an augmented reality dashboard. It identifies an object in the dark on top of what the driver sees through the front window, and displays information that tells the driver about the distance and movement of the object overlaid.
- wireless modules enable communication between vehicles, exchange of information between the vehicle and the supporting infrastructure, and exchange of information between the vehicle and other connected devices (eg, devices carried by pedestrians).
- the safety system can lower the risk of an accident by guiding the driver through alternative courses of action to make driving safer.
- Smart cities and smart homes referred to as smart society, will be embedded with high-density wireless sensor networks.
- a distributed network of intelligent sensors will identify the conditions for cost and energy-efficient maintenance of a city or home.
- a similar setup can be done for each household.
- Temperature sensors, window and heating controllers, burglar alarms and appliances are all wirelessly connected. Many of these sensors are typically low data rate, low power and low cost. However, for example, real-time HD video may be required in certain types of devices for surveillance.
- the consumption and distribution of energy including heat or gas is highly decentralized, requiring automated control of distributed sensor networks.
- the smart grid interconnects these sensors using digital information and communication technologies to gather information and act accordingly. This information can include the behavior of suppliers and consumers, enabling smart grids to improve efficiency, reliability, economics, sustainability of production and the distribution of fuels such as electricity in an automated way.
- the smart grid can also be viewed as another low-latency sensor network.
- the health sector has many applications that can benefit from mobile communications.
- the communication system can support telemedicine providing clinical care from remote locations. This can help reduce barriers to distance and improve access to medical services that are not consistently available in remote rural areas. It is also used to save lives in critical care and emergencies.
- a wireless sensor network based on mobile communication can provide sensors and remote monitoring of parameters such as heart rate and blood pressure.
- Wireless and mobile communications are becoming increasingly important in industrial applications. Wiring is expensive to install and maintain. Thus, the possibility of replacing cables with reconfigurable wireless links is an attractive opportunity for many industries. However, achieving this requires that the wireless connection operates with a delay, reliability and capacity similar to that of the cable, and its management is simplified. Low latency and very low error probability are new requirements that need to be connected to 5G.
- Logistics and freight tracking are important use cases for mobile communications that enable tracking of inventory and packages anywhere using location-based information systems. Logistics and freight tracking use cases typically require low data rates, but require a wide range and reliable location information.
- a wireless communication system is a multiple access system that supports communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (eg, bandwidth, transmission power, etc.).
- multiple access systems include a code division multiple access (CDMA) system, a frequency division multiple access (FDMA) system, a time division multiple access (TDMA) system, an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system, and a single carrier frequency (SC-FDMA) system.

- the AGC symbol may be inserted at the beginning of each TDoA slot or may be inserted only at the beginning of the last TDoA slot. Whether to insert the AGC symbol and/or the insertion location may be defined in advance or may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station.
- the proposed broadcast TDoA positioning mode can determine whether the AN will participate in the positioning process, and the AN participating in the positioning process periodically broadcasts PSCCH information and PRS required for TDoA positioning in the terminal through the TDoA slot.
- the UE may periodically receive PSCCH information and PRS through a TDoA slot to perform TDoA positioning.
- the overall procedure for performing broadcast TDoA positioning is as follows.
- PRS for ToA measurement eg, SRS (Sound Reference Signal) or any PRS
- PRS comb-type information PRS frequency offset information
- -PRS symbol position OFDM symbol position through which PRS is transmitted
- TDoA slot muting The location of the TDoA slot that the PSCCH and PRS do not transmit (or zero-powered TDoA slot) in the periodically transmitted TDoA slot structure
- -Number of subchannels in a TDoA slot The maximum number of ANs that one TDoA slot can support
- Information related to the TDoA slot structure and TDoA positioning operation described above is NR-V2X system configuration information and may be provided through the MIB/SIB of the PSBCH transmitted through the NR-V2X slot of FIG. 12, and location server/LMF and/ Alternatively, related information may be periodically or aperiodically changed by the base station. Therefore, the terminal that wants to perform sidelink TDoA positioning and the base station and/or terminal serving as an AN can obtain configuration information necessary for sidelink TDoA positioning by receiving the PSBCH transmitted through the NR-V2X slot.
- information related to the TDoA slot structure and the TDoA positioning operation may be provided by defining a default TDoA positioning operation in advance. Therefore, the terminal that wants to perform the sidelink TDoA positioning and the base station and/or the terminal acting as an AN provide configuration information necessary for sidelink TDoA positioning using the default TDoA slot structure and parameters related to the TDoA positioning operation defined or stored in advance. Can be obtained.
- the first step of sidelink TDoA positioning which is a process of determining which base station and/or terminal will participate in positioning as a candidate AN (candidate AN).
- the candidate AN may mean a candidate base station and/or a terminal capable of transmitting PSCCH and PRS in a TDoA slot.
- the final AN may transmit a PSCCH and a PRS in a TDoA slot as a base station and/or a terminal finally selected among candidate ANs.
- the final AN selection method is described in [STEP A-2] to be described later.
- a process and method for determining a candidate AN to participate in TDoA positioning for a base station and/or a terminal will be described in more detail.
- whether to participate in TDoA positioning as a candidate AN may be determined by each base station and/or terminal using PQI information for location information.
- each base station and/or terminal may perform the [STEP-2] procedure as a candidate AN if the measured PQI is higher than a specific threshold, and may determine that it is not a candidate AN if it is less than a specific threshold.
- the PQI may mean the reliability of the location of each base station and/or terminal.
- a specific threshold may be defined in advance or may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station and transmitted to the base station and the terminal.
- whether to participate in TDoA positioning as a candidate AN may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station.
- the location server/LMF and/or the base station may inform the terminal of the candidate AN using location information or PQI information reported from the terminal.
- the terminal may periodically report location information or PQI information to the location server/LMF and/or the base station, or may report aperiodically only when there is a request from the location server/LMF and/or the base station.
- a separate location information or PQI reporting process may not be required.
- whether to participate in TDoA positioning as a candidate AN may be determined in advance without the determination process using the location information or PQI described above, or the determination process by the location server/LMF and/or the base station.
- a base station and/or a terminal having fixed location information may always participate in the TDoA positioning of the terminal as a candidate AN.
- RSSI Receiveived Signal Strength Indicator
- RSRP Reference Signal Received Power
- the final AN in the candidate AN may be selected by the location server/LMF and/or the base station.
- the location server/LMF and/or the base station uses the location information or PQI information reported from the terminal to determine whether the final AN and subchannel location and PRS pattern information to be used in the TDoA slot to the terminal. Can provide.
- [STEP A-3] The following is the third step of sidelink TDoA positioning, in which the AN finally selected in [STEP A-2] transmits the PSCCH and PRS through the TDoA slot.
- the AN may transmit SCI including location information, PQI for location information, PRS pattern information, information related to TDoA slot period, and the like through the PSCCH.
- the provision of PQI for location information is to allow the UE to determine whether to consider the corresponding AN for positioning.
- LBS Local Based Service
- the threshold may be differently defined according to the LBS, and may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station and transmitted to the base station and the terminal.
- the information related to the TDoA slot period of the AN indicates the time and use of the next TDoA slot, and can be used in the final AN determination process through the sensing operation of [STEP A-2].
- AN can transmit a PRS using the defined PRS pattern.
- the number of OFDM symbols for the PRS and the location of the OFDM symbol through which the PRS is transmitted may be defined in advance or may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station and transmitted to the base station and the terminal.
- the UE may acquire SCI information related to each AN through PSCCH demodulation of the received TDoA slot, and measure the ToA for the PRS transmitted from each AN.
- SCI information related to each AN may be acquired through PSCCH demodulation of the received TDoA slot, and measure the ToA for the PRS transmitted from each AN.
- TDoA positioning operation using the measured ToA, location information of each AN, and PQI information will be described.
- the terminal may select an AN capable of improving the positioning performance of the terminal by using the acquired location information and PQI information of the AN.
- the terminal may select an AN required for positioning using the location information of each AN. For example, when rough initial location information of the terminal is given, the terminal may select an AN capable of improving the positioning performance of the terminal from a topology perspective. If the terminal selects three ANs and performs positioning, the terminal can select three ANs that can well form an equilateral triangle around the terminal from a topology perspective. In addition, if the location of the AN is not helpful in the positioning of the terminal from a topology perspective, the AN may not be selected.
- the terminal may select an AN required for positioning using PQI information provided by each AN. For example, if the LBS service to be performed by the terminal requests a PQI of a specific threshold or higher, an AN providing a PQI below the threshold may be excluded from the positioning process.
- ⁇ AN's weight determination step The terminal can improve the accuracy of TDoA positioning by assigning different weights to the AN selected in the AN selection step described above.
- the terminal may determine a weight for an AN using the location information of each AN. That is, a high weight can be set for an AN that is determined to have a large impact on the improvement of positioning performance from a topology point of view, and a low weight can be set for an AN that is determined to have a relatively small impact.
- ⁇ Positioning step This is the step of performing TDoA positioning using the location information of the AN selected in the previous step and weight information for the AN.
- the location of the terminal can be measured by calculating the coordinates of the intersection of the two hyperbolas. At this time, the location of the terminal may be corrected or improved by applying a weight for each AN.
- the terminal can measure the location of the terminal by drawing a circle using the location of the AN as the center point using the ToA value and location information measured from each AN, and then calculating the coordinates of the intersections of a plurality of circles. At this time, the location of the terminal may be corrected or improved by applying a weight for each AN.
- the AN transmits PSCCH information and PRS necessary for TDoA positioning in the terminal through the TDoA slot when there is a request for information for TDoA positioning from the terminal, and the terminal transmits PSCCH information and PRS through the TDoA slot.
- TDoA positioning may be performed by receiving the PRS.
- the operation of requesting an AN role from the terminal may be performed through the PSCCH of the NR-V2X slot before the TDoA slot.
- the terminal may not perform a separate process of selecting or determining an AN to participate in the positioning, and the AN may not perform a separate process of responding to the terminal as to whether to participate in the positioning of the terminal.
- the AN can broadcast information necessary for TDoA positioning of the terminal when it meets the request of the terminal. Therefore, the overall procedure for performing the proposed on-demand TDoA positioning can perform a similar procedure except for a process in which the terminal requests TDoA positioning when compared with the broadcast TDoA positioning procedure.
- the terminal may request the role of the AN through the transmission of a message (eg, a request sidelink positioning message) to the neighboring base station and/or the terminal.
- the UE may transmit a minimum PQI capable of satisfying the LBS under consideration through the PSCCH, and the base station and/or UE satisfying the PQI may be a candidate AN or a final AN. It will be described in more detail in [STEP B-2] below.
- the terminal may request the role of the AN by transmitting the SRS to the neighboring base station and/or the terminal.
- the request using the reference signal means that the base station and/or the terminal satisfying the minimum PQI for TDoA positioning may be a candidate AN or a final AN. It will be described in more detail below.
- [STEP B-2] The following is the second step for sidelink TDoA positioning, and describes a process and method for determining a candidate AN to participate in TDoA positioning for neighboring base stations and/or terminals after [STEP B-1] do.
- the terminal requests the role of the AN through the transmission of a message (for example, a request sidelink positioning message) to the neighboring base station and/or the terminal, the RSRP for the DMRS of the PSCCH or PSSCH is measured and the candidate The following procedure as AN is performed, and if it is less than a certain threshold, it may be determined that it is not a candidate AN.
- a message for example, a request sidelink positioning message
- the RSRP is measured, and if it is above a specific threshold, the next procedure as a candidate AN is performed, and if it is below a specific threshold, the candidate AN is It can be determined that it is not.
- the threshold value may be differently set according to the LBS of the terminal, or may be defined in advance in the LBS, or may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station and transmitted to the base station and the terminal.
- the neighboring base station and/or the terminal may perform the next procedure as a candidate AN when the received requested PQI is satisfied, and if not satisfied, it may determine that it is not a candidate AN.
- whether the neighboring base station and/or the terminal participate in TDoA positioning as a candidate AN may be determined by the location server/LMF and/or the base station.
- [STEP B-3] The following is the third step of sidelink TDoA positioning, a process of determining which base station and/or terminal among candidate ANs will participate in positioning as a final AN (candidate AN), the above-described broadcast positioning process

- the TDoA slot received by the terminal may include control information and PRS of each of a plurality of anchor nodes, and control information and PRS of each anchor node may be distinguishably received.
- the TDoA slot may further include an AGC symbol and a guard symbol. Meanwhile, the TDoA slot may be received by broadcasting of anchor nodes without a request from the UE, or may be received in response to a request message from the UE.
- the terminal may measure the location of the terminal using the TDoA slot.
- the terminal may select positioning anchor nodes to be used for position measurement among anchor nodes that have transmitted signals using position information of anchor nodes or PQI using control information transmitted by anchor nodes.
