Definitions
- the invention relates to a catalyst comprising a heteropolyacid, the substrate of the catalyst comprising inorganic materials and / or metal oxides.
- the invention further relates to a method for producing a catalyst, a method for the catalytic conversion of a mixture of substances containing glycerol, preferably crude glycerol, into propanols in a fixed bed reactor and a device for the catalytic conversion of a mixture of substances containing glycerol, preferably raw glycerol, into Propanols in a fixed bed reactor.
- Heteropolyacids are known to be reusable catalysts in chemical reactions.
- An example of homogeneous acid catalysis is the hydrolysis of propene in propan-2-ol by H 3 PMo 12 O 40 and H 3 PW 12 O 40 and an example of heterogeneous acid catalysis is the dehydration of propan-2-ol in propene and Methanol in hydrocarbons known by H 3 PW 12 O 40 .
- heteropolyacids based on the Keggin structure it is known that they have good chemical stability and high acid and oxidation capabilities.
- Keggin-type heteropoly acids belong to the class of polyoxometals.
- Another goal is the addition of advanced biofuels in the amount of energy percent 0.2e% from 2022, 1e% from 2025 and 3.5e% 2030 to fuels in the transport sector, whereby these only from a restricted list of raw materials, which in the directive are specified, may be produced.
- the advantage of advanced biofuels is that they do not lead to any direct competition with food production and thus only to reduced indirect land use change (ILUC).
- ILUC indirect land use change
- raw glycerine is a listed raw material. Around 10 percent by weight of glycerine is obtained from biodiesel production as a by-product in the form of raw glycerine. Due to the nature of the process, raw glycerine is usually contaminated with sodium chloride, water, methanol, sulfates, monoglycerides, diglycerides, ash, insufficiently separated fat residues and other substances.
- raw glycerol in the context of the invention is understood to mean a liquid mixture with a glycerol content of at least 60% by weight, which also contains a mineral content, ie a content of cations such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chlorine and Phosphorus, from 1% by weight to 10% by weight and having a water content of more than 5% by weight.
- a mineral content ie a content of cations such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chlorine and Phosphorus
- US Pat. No. 8,507,736 B2 shows a method for producing short-chain alcohols from glycerol, which is produced as a by-product of biodiesel production.
- the product stream can comprise a mixture of ethanol, methanol and propanol, with propanol making up more than 50 percent of the total mass of the monohydric alcohols in the product stream.
- the processing can take place in a single reaction step, which includes both dehydration and hydrogenation.
- the catalyst used here can be a mixture of a dehydration catalyst and a hydrogenation catalyst, the former being able to contain oxides of tungsten and zirconium and the latter being able to contain a metal from the platinum group.
- the reaction in a single step should take place at around 300 ° C.
- US Pat. No. 8,946,458 B2 discloses a number of catalysts and processes and reactor systems for processing oxygen-containing hydrocarbons.
- the use of glycerine as a by-product from biodiesel production is particularly pointed out.
- the products obtained from this include 1-propanol and acetone, among others.
- a heterogeneous hydrodeoxygenation catalyst (HDO) is used for the reaction, a large number of different catalysts being described.
- HDO hydrodeoxygenation catalyst
- doping it is mentioned that a bimetallic catalyst with platinum and molybdenum on a tungsten-zirconium support can be used.
- a range between 100 ° C. and 300 ° C. at a pressure of between 4 and 140 bar is given as the reaction temperature.
- EP 2016 037 B1 shows a method for processing an aqueous insert, which also includes glycerine, in a single catalytic process and using in-situ generated hydrogen, inter alia, to alcohols, which include in particular ethanol and propanol.
- Silicon or zirconium which can be treated with tungsten, can be used as the catalyst carrier. In this context it is mentioned that the use of oxides, inter alia, of zirconium is preferred.
- the catalyst can also contain a transition metal, for example platinum or rhodium. The process takes place in two chemical steps, for different ones - however overlapping - temperature ranges of between 80 ° C and 400 ° C or between 100 ° C and 300 ° C are given.
- CN 101054339 D4 shows a method for processing the biodiesel by-product glycerine into n-propanol in a continuous process with a fixed bed catalyst with several tubes.
- a catalyst carrier inter alia.
- Zr02 is used, whereby inter alia. Tungsten, rhodium, molybdenum and platinum are used as active components.
- the reaction temperature is between 180 and 360 ° C.
- Another goal is to process raw glycerine into a fuel or an admixable fuel component without complex pre-cleaning or preparation. Furthermore, it should be possible to transfer the processes proposed for the catalytic converter from the laboratory to the large-scale plant in sufficient dimensions, ie that it should allow appropriate upscaling. Furthermore, conditions should be achieved under which the production of by-products, such as dimerization products and ketones, is limited.
- the heteropolyacid being present as the corresponding lacunar ion of the original Keggin structure and the substrate of the catalyst having a pore diameter on the surface between 5 and 20 angstroms.
- the object is achieved by a method for producing a catalytic converter, the method comprising the steps:
- the substrate having a pore diameter on the surface between 5 and 20 angstroms and the substrate having inorganic materials and / or metal oxides,
- Impregnation of the substrate with a heteropoly acid in aqueous solution the pH value during the impregnation being greater than 4.
- a method for the catalytic conversion of a mixture of substances containing glycerol, preferably crude glycerol, into propanols in a fixed bed reactor a catalyst as described herein being used and a device for the catalytic conversion of a mixture of substances being used.
- glycerine preferably crude glycerine
- the heteropolyacids for example silicotungstate (silicotungstic acid) or phosphotungstate (phosphotungstic acid), form Keggin structures in aqueous solution.
- These Keggin structures are heteropoly anions that can coordinate three protons.
- the aforementioned adjustment of the pH value in aqueous solution creates defects in the heteropolyanion due to the addition of bases, for example:
- lacunar structures can coordinate seven protons instead of three protons, whereby the acid strength and thus the active centers for the dehydration reaction, i.e. also the effectiveness of the catalyst as a whole, are increased.
- Keggin and Keggin-Lacunar structure of heteropolyacids is, for example, in the paper "Lacunar Keggin Heteropolyacid Salts: Soluble, Solid and Solid-Supported Catalysts" by Coronel et al., Journal of Cluster Science (2016) 29: 195- 205, described.
- the catalytically active substances which are otherwise usually readily soluble in water, are particularly effective on the catalyst substrate be immobilized. Since the catalytically active substances remain immobilized in a stable manner, the active centers also remain freely accessible and retained despite, for example, an aqueous reaction process.
- the immobilization of the catalytically active substances, especially the heteropolyacid is most likely due to physicochemical interactions, presumably adsorptive van der Waals forces, and to the ideal pore diameter and thus the inaccessibility of the catalytically active substance .
- the deposition of the catalytically active substance, in particular the dehydration catalyst takes place preferably close to the surface due to the molecular size, with the deposition taking place in particular in coarse pores.
- the lacunarity here refers to the gap in the complex association, e.g. caused by (targeted) removal (via pH- Value setting) of a HW04 tetrahedron made of silicotungstic acid or phosphotungstic acid.
- the combination with inorganic materials or metal oxides are on the one hand very advantageous because of their high stability during the in-situ regeneration of the catalyst through simple oxidation of superficial adhesions, for example coke (ie "targeted, slow coke burn off”) Van der Waals interactions are also important, resulting in "adhesive adhesion" of the substrate to the Keggin or Keggin-lacunar structure and to protect against hydration (dissolving out by water during the process, if aqueous Reaction control).
- the combination of a substrate with inorganic materials and / or metal oxides, the stated pore diameter, and a heteropolyacid in the lacunar structure is therefore particularly advantageous.
- the heteropolyacid is present in particular as a lacunar ion.
- the substrate of the catalyst preferably has a pore diameter on the surface of between 9 and 15 Angstroms, particularly preferably essentially 12 Angstroms.
- the heteropolyacid is present in particular as a doping of the substrate.
- the heteropolyacid used is preferably of the Keggin (basic) type.
- the heteropolyacid forms a dehydrogenation catalyst.
- the heteropolyacid is thus in the lacunary-Keggin structure (Lacunary Keggin structure) or as a Keggin-type lacunar structure.
- the pH value when the substrate is impregnated in aqueous solution is preferably greater than 4.5, particularly preferably greater than 5, even more preferably essentially 5.5.
- the catalyst can be used, for example, for the conversion of a substance mixture containing glycerol, in particular crude glycerol, into 1- and 2-propanol. Furthermore, it can be used, for example, for converting alcohols to olefins, especially at higher temperatures (fixed-bed-catalyzed gas phase reaction at approx. 350 ° C to 500 ° C and 10 to 40 bar), and at These olefin intermediates result in higher hydrocarbons in the range from iC 8 to iC 12.
- the polyheteroacid initially leads to a simple elimination of water from the alcohol.
- the olefins formed are coordinated by the Keggin-Lakunar structure.
- the pore size of the substrate in turn, together with the hydrogen partial pressure and the temperature, has an effect on the chain length and type (aromatic or aliphatic) of the hydrocarbons formed.
- the heteropolyacid is silicotungstic acid (tungstate silicic acid), phosphotungstic acid, silicomolybdic acid or phosphomolybdic acid, which is present as a lacunar ion. That is to say, for example, based on the silicon tungstic acid, the catalyst preferably has [SiW 11 O 39 ] 7- , and based on the phosphotungstic acid preferably [PW 11 O 39 ] 7- . These substances have particularly good acid strength and are therefore effective as dehydrogenation catalysts.
- the catalyst is for the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of an organic compound and has a hydrogenation catalyst.
- a hydrogenation catalyst is understood to be a catalyst that enables the addition (addition) of hydrogen, so that hydrogenation, i.e. the reduction of organic compounds, occurs.
- the hydrogenation catalyst is in particular a catalyst for heterogeneous hydrogenation.
- the hydrogenation catalyst is preferably a metallic component.
- the catalyst can thus be used for the catalytic hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of an organic compound.
- the hydrogenation catalyst in particular platinum, advantageously makes molecular hydrogen available for the hydrogenation reactances.
- the hydrogenation catalyst has a noble metal, preferably a platinum metal, particularly preferably platinum. The use of a noble metal, in particular platinum, enables the hydrogenation catalyst to be highly efficient.
- the hydrogenation catalyst preferably has ruthenium, copper, palladium and / or nickel. These offer a particularly high efficiency of the hydrogenation catalyst.
- a metal catalyst is advantageously responsible for the hydrogenation of the intermediate products.
- Noble metals such as platinum are known to be hydrogenation catalysts, presumably because they activate hydrogen molecules.
- Ruthenium is also possible because it is not as sensitive to sulfur as other catalysts.
- Base metals such as copper or nickel are also possible.
- the catalyst should have an optimal ratio of acid centers and hydrogenation centers and advantageously be as resistant as possible to catalyst poisoning.
- the composition of the catalyst preferably consists of a proportion of platinum, ruthenium, copper or nickel of 0.5 to 5 percent by weight, preferably between 1 and 3 percent by weight, particularly preferably essentially 1.5 percent by weight .
- Percent and from a heteropoly acid, in particular silicotungstic acid or phosphotungstic acid between 5 to 20 percent by weight, preferably between 7.5 and 15 percent by weight, particularly preferably essentially 12 percent by weight.
- the substrate of the catalyst has mixed oxides of silicon, tungsten, zirconium and / or aluminum, preferably zirconium dioxide, aluminosilicate and / or aluminophosphate zeolites, preferably VFI and / or VPI-5 zeolites, USY zeolites , in particular dealuminated USY zeolites, and / or aluminum dioxide.
- Such substrates turned out to be particularly favorable in the course of test series. This makes it possible to achieve good chemical stability of the hydrogenation catalyst and / or of the dehydrogenation catalyst or of the heteropolyacid and, at the same time, good availability of the respective catalysts.
- ZrO2 not an advantageous catalyst for the conversion of glycerol into propanols, however it is advantageous as a carrier material for the catalyst in many reactions due to its high thermal stability, great hardness and good stability under reducing conditions.
- the substrate of the catalyst is advantageously ceramic and / or an extrudate pellet.
- organic binders on the substrate surface are advantageously volatilized almost without leaving any residue, and the pellets are given a corresponding strength.
- the substrate base materials already have a suitable pore size, in particular a pore diameter on the surface between 5 and 20 angstroms, preferably between 9 and 15 angstroms, particularly preferably essentially 12 angstroms so that ultimately the pore diameter on the surface of the substrates on their surface is between 5 and 20 angstroms, preferably between 9 and 15 angstroms, particularly preferably essentially 12 angstroms.
- a suitable pore size in particular a pore diameter on the surface between 5 and 20 angstroms, preferably between 9 and 15 angstroms, particularly preferably essentially 12 angstroms.
- USY zeolites are so-called ultra-stabilized (Y) zeolites. These actually have too small a pore size, but are mechanically extremely stable. This property is particularly relevant in up-scaling, for example due to the high reactors and the compressive stress caused by the dead weight. If these USY zeolites are dealuminated, ie a defined part of the aluminosilicate composite is subsequently chemically removed, the pore size can be appropriately expanded, in particular to the stated desired pore diameter on the surface of the substrate.
- the pore size, the mechanical stability and the potential for surface interactions or the physisorption to immobilize, for example, silicotungstic acid, are in summary the decisive criteria for the selection of the substrate material.
- the heteropolyacid is a Keggin-type heteropolyacid.
- the heteropoly acid with which the substrate is impregnated is advantageously silicotungstic acid, phosphotungstic acid, silicomolybdic acid or phosphotungstic acid. Silicotungstic acid and phosphotungstic acid are particularly preferred.
- the process is preferably used to produce a catalyst for the hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of an organic compound.
- the method advantageously further comprises the step: impregnating the substrate with a hydrogenation catalyst.
- the substrate is impregnated with the heteropolyacid before the substrate is impregnated with the hydrogenation catalyst.
- This sequence of application enables a significantly better distribution of the active centers on the catalyst substrate to be achieved. This means, in particular, that a more finely structured, more uniform surface distribution of the “molecular workplaces” is achieved, so that more molecules can be converted based on an equally large catalyst surface. These reactions only take place on the catalyst surface, since there the Keggin or corresponding lacunar shapes have a diameter of, for example, approximately 12 Angstroms.
- the micro pores are occupied to the maximum by the Keggin or the corresponding lacunar shapes important because the keggin or corresponding lacunar shapes can only be fixed on the surface in the micropores (because optimal fit with as much contact area as possible for the keggion / lacunar structure on the substrate and therefore optimal application of the Van der Waals forces ), while they can be washed out of the meso- and macro-pores of the substrate analyzer, in particular Platinum, on the other hand, can accumulate on the substrate surface (and even further into the substrate) (especially as metal).
- the precursors and production conditions for the hydrogenation catalyst, in particular platinum are chosen so that an edge zone is formed (ie the hydrogenation catalyst, in particular platinum, remains accessible for the reactions on the surface of the substrate).
- the hydrogenation catalyst comprises a noble metal, preferably a platinum metal, particularly preferably platinum.
- the hydrogenation catalyst contains ruthenium, copper, palladium and / or nickel.
- mixed oxides of silicon, tungsten, zirconium and / or aluminum preferably zirconium dioxide, aluminosilicate and / or aluminophosphate zeolites, preferably VFI and / or VPI-5 zeolites, USY zeolites, in particular dealuminated USY zeolites, are used as the substrate of the catalyst.
- Zeolites and / or aluminum oxide used.
- a substrate of the catalyst comprises a base material comprising USY -Zeolites is dealuminated.
- the method preferably has one or more of the following steps: the incorporation of organic binders, which are then burned out essentially without leaving any residue, the organic binder preferably being incorporated into the base materials, which are preferably in powder form, and these then homogeneously to form a base mass are kneaded, with the organic binder preferably a dispersion, particularly preferably a nano-dispersion, made of polymers, preferably polystyrene, and water are used, preferably the Po- polymer content is less than 5 percent by weight, particularly preferably less than 1 percent by weight, of the dispersion; extruding the pellets preferably under a pressure between 5 and 120 bar, particularly preferably between 20 and 100 bar, even more preferably between 40 and 80 bar to a diameter between 1 and 8 mm, preferably between 2 and 6 mm, particularly preferably between 3 and 4 mm and / or a length between 0.25 and 4 cm, preferably between 0.4 and 3 cm, particularly preferably between 0.5 and 2 cm and preferably the conditioning
- a hydrogenation catalyst in particular platinum
- the substrates of the catalyst used are extrudate pellets and preferably ceramic.
- organic binders on the substrate surface are advantageously volatilized almost without leaving any residue, and the pellets are given a corresponding strength.

In this way, the highest possible glycerol throughput can be achieved and at the same time a very high conversion to propanols of over 85% can be achieved.
- the fixed bed reactor is preferably one-stage.
- Raw glycerine, technical glycerine and / or purified glycerine can be used as the starting material, i.e. as a mixture of substances containing glycerine. It is particularly advantageous if raw glycerine is used, as this is characterized by its low price and is obtained as a by-product in various processes. Furthermore, only this is usually one of the (legal) targets with regard to advanced biofuels, in particular according to Directive (EU) 2015/1513, Annex IX, Part A, also known as "RED II”.
- Technical glycerine lies between raw glycerine and purified glycerine in terms of glycerine content and the proportion of impurities.
- the mixture of substances containing glycerine is removed from a storage container and advantageously filtered, in particular in order, depending on the quality of the mixture of substances containing glycerine, in particular depending on the degree of contamination, any un- to remove dissolved solids and unwanted accompanying substances.
- the mixture of substances containing glycerol can be centrifuged before or after this step.
- the (preferably pretreated) substance mixture containing glycerine is then preferably mixed with water and diluted, the glycerine content preferably being between 5 and 80 percent, particularly preferably between 10 and 60 percent, even more preferably between 15 and 50 percent, depending on the desired product yield structure - is adjusted to a cent, the glycerol content being adjusted to 0.7 to 0.9 times the desired, stoichiometrically possible concentration (amount of substance) of 1-propanol in the end product.

- the mixture of substances containing glycerine is preferably heated to between 150 and 300 ° C., particularly preferably to between 190 and 250 ° C., even more preferably to im Heated to a substantial 220 ° C.

- the energy from the process heat is advantageously sufficient to preheat the mixture of substances containing glycerine before the reaction
- no external reaction energy has to be supplied and / or removed (except when starting up the plant), and the reaction is thus advantageously carried out adiabatically.
- the process medium is then advantageously expanded, preferably between 0.2 and 0.02 times, particularly preferably between 0.1 and 0.03 times, even more preferably to essentially 0.04 -fold the original pressure.

- 1-Propanol and / or 2-Propanol is preferably obtained via a treatment cascade, in which water is first removed from the mixture of substances converted in the fixed-bed reactor and pure propanols are obtained, the separated process water being mixed with fresh water in a water mixer, this is usually an ordinary mixer that is added and the water mixture is particularly preferably used in the process at an earlier point, in particular for mixing with the mixture containing glycerine in the mixer, with the recovered process water even more preferably having a proportion between 80 and 100 percent, preferably between 90 and 100 percent of the total water used in the process. It can also alternatively or the organic target fraction obtained can also be used in a further process step to build up longer-chain hydrocarbons, ie to oligomerize them.

Description
Zr02 verwendet, wobei u. a.
- Silicowolframat: [SiW12O40]3- + 50H- <=> [SiW11O39]7- + [HWO4]- + 2H20
- Phosphorwolframat: [PW12O4O]3- + 50H- <=> [PW11O39]7- + [HWO4]- +
2H2O
lymeranteil kleiner als 5 Gewichtsprozent, besonders bevorzugt kleiner als 1 Gewichtsprozent an der Dispersion beträgt; das Extrudieren der Pellets bevorzugt unter einem Druck zwi- schen 5 und 120 bar, besonders bevorzugt zwischen 20 und 100 bar, noch mehr bevorzugt zwischen 40 und 80 bar auf einen Durch- messer zwischen 1 und 8 mm, bevorzugt zwischen 2 und 6 mm, be- sonders bevorzugt zwischen 3 und 4 mm und/oder eine Länge zwi- schen 0,25 und 4 cm, bevorzugt zwischen 0,4 und 3 cm, besonders bevorzugt zwischen 0,5 und 2 cm und vorzugsweise die Konditio- nierung der Pellets bei einer Temperatur zwischen 400 und 1000 °C, bevorzugt zwischen 500 und 750 °C, noch mehr bevorzugt bei im Wesentlichen 600 °C für einen Zeitraum zwischen 24 und 168 h, bevorzugt zwischen 36 und 96 h, noch mehr bevorzugt für im Wesentlichen 48 h;
K: 0,61 Gew.-%
Al: <0,001 Gew.-%
Si: <0,001 Gew.-%
Fe: 0,0004 Gew.-%
Cr: <0,0001 Gew.-%
Ni: <0,0001 Gew.-%
S: 0,5548 Gew.-%
CI: <0,0001 Gew.-%
V: <0,001 Gew.-%
Zn: <0,001 Gew.-%
Kohlenstoff: 32,30 Gew.-%
Wasserstoff: 9,80 Gew.-%
Wasser: 14,0 Gew.-%
Glyceringehalt: 79,9 Gew.-%
