Definitions
- the technical field of the invention is that of weapon assemblies for military vehicles and turrets comprising such assemblies.
- Such a mounting on a turret obliges during the firing to have a clearance in the central part of the turret located under the plane of rotation in bearing of the turret so that the aiming and the retreat of the weapon can be done up to this plane without interference.
- This clearance is conventionally formed by a turret well penetrating into the chassis of the vehicle as visible in patent US4838144.
- This type of turret well is bulky and constitutes a zone of vulnerability for the vehicle which is obliged to have a substantial opening at the level of the chassis in order to be able to receive the turret basket.
- the invention proposes to solve this problem of congestion and vulnerability.
- the invention also solves a problem of accessibility in superstructure through the turret which, according to the state of the art, is made difficult by the presence of the breech of the weapon.
- the subject of the invention is therefore a weapon assembly comprising an oscillating mass which pivots in elevation relative to a carriage, to allow aiming, and thus comprises journals intended to interface with a tank turret, the oscillating mass also incorporating a retracting mass which translates with respect to the journals when fired, retreating mass comprising in particular a weapon, mounting of a weapon in which the journals are situated behind the center of gravity of the retreating mass and in that a counterweight is intended to counterbalance longitudinally the weight of the receding mass at rest so as to place the center of gravity of the oscillating mass at the level of the pins, weapon assembly characterized in that at least one pin is secured to a first end of an arm which is therefore secured to the oscillating mass, arm carrying the counterweight at its second end, the counterweight comprising at least u ne ballistic armor plate and / or at least one functional means constituted by a sight and / or by a secondary armament.
- the assembly comprises two arms each located on either side of the oscillating mass, each arm carrying a counterweight.
- the secondary armament may include a grenade launcher.
- the secondary armament may include a medium-caliber machine gun.
- the subject of the invention is also a turret for a military vehicle pivoting in bearing around a bearing separating the turret from the vehicle and defining a laying plane, turret characterized in that it comprises a weapon mounting according to one of the previous characteristics, assembly in which the distance D between the trunnions and the center of gravity of the receding mass for a given height of the plane of laying is chosen so that when the oscillating mass is at its maximum site and the receding mass at its maximum recoil, the retracting mass is above the laying plane.
- a tank turret 100 has a weapon assembly 1.
- the weapon assembly 1 comprises pins 2 (which will be better seen in FIG. 2), integral with the turret 100 at the level of a mount 3 secured to the shell 4 of the turret 100.
- the weapon assembly 1 comprises a large caliber weapon 5a (caliber greater than 40 mm) integral with the assembly 1 at the level of the pins which constitute axes 2 of pivoting in elevation for the oscillating mass 10 carrying the weapon 5a.
- a large caliber weapon 5a caliber greater than 40 mm
- oscillating mass 10 designates all the elements of the weapon assembly 1 which pivot in elevation around the pins 2.
- the term “retreating mass 5” designates all the elements of the weapon assembly 1 which retreat during firing.
- an oscillating mass 10 comprises in particular the retreating mass 5 and the cradle which receives and guides the latter during retraction.
- a recoil mass 5 comprises in particular the weapon 5a itself with its tube and breech 8 and the part of the recoil brakes (not shown) which accompanies the recoil (the fixed part of the brakes remains linked to the cradle).
- Each pin 2 is integral with a first end of an arm 6 located on either side of the oscillating mass 10.
- the second end of each arm 6 has a counterweight 7.
- Each counterweight 7 here comprises a shielding plate 7a substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the retreating mass 5 of the weapon 5a in order to ballistically protect the parts of the turret 100 located behind these plates 7a.
- the counterweights may advantageously include functional means of the turret, that is to say means exercising an operational function other than that of counterweight, for example target acquisition equipment (sights, designators) or defense equipment. (secondary armaments, cupolas, close defense systems, etc.).
- a first counterweight 7 located to the right of the retracting mass 5 comprises for example a sight 7b while a second counterweight 7 here comprises a secondary armament 7e which comprises a grenade launcher 7c as well as a medium caliber machine gun 7d.
- the weapon assembly 1 alone with the receding mass 5 of the weapon 5a and its counterweights 7 is best seen in FIG. 2.
- the counterweights 7 formed by the armor plates and the various equipment have the function, thanks to the position of their center of gravity T, of counterbalancing the weight of the receding mass 5 which is exerted at the level of its center of gravity G, by placing the center of gravity I of the oscillating mass 10 of the weapon assembly 1 at the level of the pins 2. In this way the pointing efforts in elevation of the weapon 5 are minimal.
- the position of the center of gravity G of the retracting mass is located in front of the pins 2 and creates an imbalance leading to a pivoting of the oscillating mass 10 around the pins 2.
- the center of gravity of the part of the oscillating mass 10 which does not incorporate the retreating mass 5 has a fixed location and it depends in particular on the importance of the unbalance formed by the counterweights 7.
- the person skilled in the art places the recoiling mass 5 of the weapon 5a at its maximum recoil R and it also directs the oscillating mass 10 at its maximum site ⁇ in such a way that the breech 8 is located above the laying plane 101 of the weapon assembly 1.
- This positioning of the center of gravity of the oscillating mass 10 at the pins 2 is of course effective when the retracting mass 5 is at rest.
- the fact of moving the receding mass 5 forwards AV releases space behind the cylinder head 8 which is favorable for example for the passage of a crew member 102 during maintenance operations or for evacuation of the vehicle as shown in Figure 5.
- the counterweight 7 can incorporate at least one functional means such as secondary armament 7d.
- This armament may include its own site pointing means to allow firing with a different orientation than that of the retreating mass 5.
- the functional means consists of a viewfinder 7b, it can also be associated with means allowing the orientation of the viewfinder independently of that of the retracting mass 5.
