Definitions
- the present invention relates to an exhaust hood which is automatically operated by measuring the temperature of the air rising from the cooking device above which the exhaust hood is operated.
- an exhaust hood is situated above the cooking devices used in houses and the smell and humidity released by the cooked foods are enabled to be discharged to the outer environment by means of the exhaust hood.
- the exhaust hood comprises a body; an exhaust duct which is connected to the chimney opening to the outer environment; a fan (aspirator) which sucks and discharges the air from above the cooker or oven; and a control unit which regulates the operation of the fan motor.
- fans which may perform suction at various levels and guiding plates which guide the flow in the air suction surface are also used.
- the user adjusts the low, mid and high levels of the fan motor in the exhaust hood. The user operates the exhaust hood when required during the cooking process and selects the desired level.
- Exhaust hoods are known wherein the operational level is automatically determined in order to provide convenience to the user and for security purposes. Therefore, sensors which monitor changes in odor and temperature in the environment are used.
- the temperature sensor measures the temperature under the exhaust hood which is caused by the heat of the cooked food and of the cooker. Consequently, the exhaust hood can be automatically started with the level thereof being automatically reduced when the thermal load decreases, and can be automatically turned off when the thermal load is zero.
- the position of the temperature sensor which measures the temperature over the cooker is critical in the automatic operation. When the cooking process on the cooker starts, the thermal load of the cooker must be detected without any error.
- the problem of the exhaust hood "not moving up to a higher level" may occur. Moreover, it becomes difficult to correctly measure the temperature when the cooking process is performed in different cooker burners. The temperature detected during a cooking process performed on a cooker burner away from the temperature sensor is different from the temperature detected during a cooking process performed on a cooker burner close to the temperature sensor.
- the Patent Application No. DE102006041581 (A1) relates to a method for preventing an exhaust hood above a cooking device from overheating.
- the Patent Application No. DE3922090 (A1) relates to an exhaust hood comprising at least one temperature sensor placed on the outer surface of the exhaust hood and measuring the ambient temperature and at least two temperature sensors placed on the suction surface, wherein the fan is controlled according to temperature difference signals based on the information received from the sensors.
- the aim of the present invention is the realization of an exhaust hood wherein the temperature of the air rising from the cooking device above which the exhaust hood is operated is correctly measured in a precise manner.
- the exhaust hood realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention comprises one or more than one temperature sensor which measures the temperature of the air rising from the cooking device, for example a cooker, and the cooking receptacle by heating up.
- the control unit automatically starts or turns off the exhaust hood and increases/decreases the level (fan speed) thereof depending on the data received from the temperature sensor.
- the temperature sensor is mounted so as to extend into the air suction duct at the front edge of the guiding plate at the lower surface of the exhaust hood and so as to be in the flow path of the air sucked by the exhaust hood.
- Figure 1 - is the schematic view of an exhaust hood and a cooker.
- Figure 2 - is the bottom perspective view of the exhaust hood.
- Figure 3 - is the partial sideways view of the exhaust hood.
- Figure 4 - is the view of detail A in Figure 3.
- the exhaust hood (1) which is positioned above cooking devices (10) such as cooker, oven, etc. and which provides the discharge of odors and humidity arising from the cooked foods, comprises a body (2); an exhaust duct (3) which is connected to the chimney opening to the outer environment; a fan (4) or "aspirator” which is disposed in the exhaust duct (3) and which enables the air to be sucked and discharged to the outer environment; a guiding plate (5) which is mounted to the lower surface of the body (2) in an openable manner, which narrows down the air suction area of the exhaust hood (1), which generates negative pressure at the lower region of the exhaust hood (1) and which enables the air rising from above the cooking device (10) to be efficiently sucked; one or more than one temperature sensor (6) which measures the temperature of the air rising from the cooking device (10) by heating up during the cooking process; a control unit (not shown in figures) which automatically starts/turns off the exhaust hood (1) and/or increases/decreases the operational level (fan (4) speed) thereof depending on the
- the exhaust hood (1) of the present invention comprises
- an air suction duct (8) which is arranged at the lower surface of the body (2), which extends along at least one edge of the guiding plate (5) and to which the guiding plate (5) guides the air rising from above the cooking device (10), and
- the temperature sensor (6) which is mounted so as to extend from the body (2) into the air suction duct (8) so as to be positioned in the flow path of the sucked air.
- the control unit receives from the temperature sensor (6) the data required for starting/turning off the exhaust hood (1) and/or increasing/decreasing the fan (4) speed, in short for automatically operating the exhaust hood (1).
- the temperature sensor (6) extends perpendicularly to the lower surface of the body (2) of the exhaust hood (1) and transversely into the air suction duct (8).
- the guiding plate (5) is in the form of a rectangle, and the air suction duct (8) is arranged between the front long edge of the guiding plate (5) and the horizontal lower wall of the front panel (7).
- the temperature sensor (6) extends from the body (2) into the air suction duct (8) from up downwards.
- the temperature sensor (6) is long as much as the long edge of the guiding plate (5) and is disposed in the middle (at the center) of the air suction duct (8) in the longitudinal direction.
- the end part of the temperature sensor (6) protrudes outwards from the air suction duct (8) and extends below the horizontal lower surface level of the body (2).
- the temperature sensor (6) contacts the air which cannot enter the air suction duct (8).
- the exhaust hood (1) comprises a mounting element (9) which is fixed between the temperature sensor (6) and the body (2), which is produced from plastic and which prevents heat transfer from the body (2) to the temperature sensor (6), thus enabling the temperature of the sucked air to be correctly detected by the temperature sensor (6).
- the mounting element (9) is produced from transparent plastic with light guide properties and is illuminated by a light source. The illuminated mounting element (9) is used as an indicator showing the operation of the exhaust hood (1) in the automatic mode.
- the temperature sensor (6) which is mounted at the center of the air suction duct (8) between the guiding plate (5) and the front panel (7) is positioned in the flow path of the air. After the exhaust hood (1) is automatically started at the first level, the temperature sensor (6) is enabled to be fully affected by the air flow while the temperature sensor (6) is prevented from making incorrect measurements during the suction of the air by the exhaust hood (1). The temperature sensor (6) correctly detects the temperature in a precise manner during the cooking processes performed on different cooker burners, in different cooker types and at different cooker powers.
