本発明は、培養装置に関する。
培養空間に二酸化炭素(CO2)ガスを供給する手段と、培養空間のCO2濃度を検出するCO2センサとを備え、CO2センサの検出結果に応じてCO2ガスの供給量を制御する培養装置が知られている(例えば特許文献1)。このような構成により、培養空間の空気のCO2濃度が、細胞や微生物などの培養に適した濃度とされる。
このような培養装置には、CO2センサ(例えば赤外線検知方式のIRセンサ)を、培養装置の内箱外に設けられたセンサボックス内に配置したものがある。培養装置内の空気は、配管を介してセンサボックス内に引き込まれ、CO2センサによってCO2濃度が検出される。センサボックス内は、加温されることで、温度が一定に保持されると共に結露が防止され、この結果、センサボックス内のCO2センサによりCO2濃度を精度良く検出できる。
しかしながら、このように、センサボックス内に培養空間の空気を引き込んでこの空気のCO2濃度を検出する構成では、センサボックス内に空気を引き込むための配管が必要となる。このため、配管を設ける分、培養装置のコストアップ及びサイズアップを招く。
本発明は、このような課題を解決するために創案されたものであり、培養装置のコストダウン及びサイズダウンを目的とする。

図1及び図2に示す培養装置1は、細胞や微生物などの培養物を培養する装置である。この培養装置1は、培養空間20が内部に形成され前面に開口21が形成された略箱状の断熱箱2と、開口21を開閉する外扉3a及び内扉3bと、を備えて構成される。培養空間20は、複数(ここでは3枚)の棚4により上下に区画されている。外扉3aの外縁には、パッキンP1が設けられている。

断熱箱2は、培養空間20が内部に形成された略箱状の内箱2aと、内箱2aの外側を覆う略箱状の外箱2bと、を有して構成される。

このCO2センサ8は、先端部8a(一端部)を、培養空間20、詳しくはダクト5内の気体通路Kに露出させ、後端部8b(第二の端部)を、断熱材2cに取り付けられている。CO2センサ8の先端部8aには、前述の発光素子と受光素子との間に空気を導くための開口(図示省略)が設けられている。
空間S1内すなわち空気層2dには、CO2センサの周囲にシール材9が設けられている。シール材9は、上辺、右辺、下辺、及び左辺を一体に形成した枠体である。シール材9は、内箱2aの外面と、外箱2bの内面(詳しくは断熱材2cの内面)とにそれぞれ密着して設けられると共に、枠内にCO2センサ8が位置するように配置されている。すなわち、CO2センサ8を上下左右から囲うように枠状のシール材9が設けられている。これにより、CO2センサ8の周囲を、上下左右に対して封止する封止空間S2が形成されている。シール材9は本発明の規制部材に相当し、封止空間S2は本発明の第二の空間に相当する。

また、図2に示すように、断熱箱2の背面には結露部材11aが設けられている。この結露部材11aは、機械室S3から培養空間20に挿入されている。結露部材11aは、伝導性が高いほど好ましく、例えば、アルミニウム又は銀等で構成した所定長さの丸棒である。結露部材11aは、その機械室S3内の端部に、ペルチェ素子11bが当該端部に吸熱面を向けて設けられており、この吸熱面によって冷却される。これにより、培養空間20内において結露部材11a表面に結露水が生成し、この結果、培養空間20内の湿度を所定範囲内に制御できるようになっている。なお、結露部材11aの表面に生成した結露水は、結露部材11aから加湿皿6内に滴下する。
また、機械室S3には、ペルチェ素子11bの発熱面に設けられた櫛状のヒートシンク11cと、このヒートシンク11cに向けて冷却風を供給する送風装置11dと、案内部材11eとが備えられている。本実施形態では、これらの結露部材11a、ペルチェ素子11b、ヒートシンク11c、及び、送風装置11dは、センサボックス13の左側に設けられている。送風装置11dから送風され、ヒートシンク11cを介してペルチェ素子11bを冷却し昇温した冷却風(空気)は、案内部材11eによって、センサボックス13の左側面の開口13cへと案内される。
[2.作用効果]
(1)上述したように、従来の培養装置では、CO2センサをセンサボックス内に配置すると共に培養空間の空気を、配管を介してセンサボックス内に供給していた。これに対し、図1及び図2に示される培養装置1では、CO2センサ8の先端部8aを培養空間20(詳しくはダクト5内)に露出させている。したがって、この培養装置1では、センサボックス内に培養空間の空気を供給するための配管が不要となる。したがって、本発明の一実施形態の培養装置1によれば、従来の培養装置に比べ、配管が不要となる分、構成を簡素化してコストダウンを図ることができると共に、配管の占有スペースを省略してサイズダウンを図ることができる。
(1)上述したように、従来の培養装置では、CO2センサをセンサボックス内に配置すると共に培養空間の空気を、配管を介してセンサボックス内に供給していた。これに対し、図1及び図2に示される培養装置1では、CO2センサ8の先端部8aを培養空間20(詳しくはダクト5内)に露出させている。したがって、この培養装置1では、センサボックス内に培養空間の空気を供給するための配管が不要となる。したがって、本発明の一実施形態の培養装置1によれば、従来の培養装置に比べ、配管が不要となる分、構成を簡素化してコストダウンを図ることができると共に、配管の占有スペースを省略してサイズダウンを図ることができる。
(2)CO2センサ8が挿通される空間S1(空気層2d)は、パッキンP2により封止されているが、図1に一点鎖線の矢印で示すようにリーク流Lが生じることがある。すなわち、培養空間20の空気が空気層2dに流入することがある。培養空間20の空気が空気層2dに流入して、この空気がCO2センサ8内の発光素子と受光素子との間に滞留してしまうと、この滞留した空気は、培養空間20の空気のCO2濃度を順次測定する際の誤差要因となる。この結果、CO2センサ8の検出結果に基づく培養空間20のCO2濃度制御を精度良く行えなくなってしまう。しかし、空間S1には、シール材9を設けてCO2センサ8へ向かうリーク流Lを規制しているので、リーク流Lに起因したCO2濃度の測定誤差を抑制することができ、ひいては、培養空間20のCO2濃度制御を精度良く行うことができる。
(3)空間S1において、シール材9によりCO2センサ8の周囲(上下左右)を囲んで、CO2センサ8の周囲に封止空間S2を設けている。この封止空間S2の存在により、CO2センサ8へ到達するリーク流Lを効果的に減少させてCO2濃度の測定誤差を一層効果的に抑制できる。
(4)外箱2bの断熱材2cに、封止空間S2から外箱2bの外部、この場合、機械室S3へと連通させる通路2eが設けられている。このため、シール材9を通過して封止空間S2にリーク流Lが流入してしまっても、封止空間S2からリーク流Lを排出でき、CO2濃度の測定誤差を一層効果的に抑制できる。
特に、本実施形態では、通路2eが封止空間S2の下側に設けられ、さらに通路2eの底面2fが封止空間S2から、封止空間S2の外部の機械室S3へ向かって下方に傾斜しているので、次の理由により、CO2濃度の測定誤差を一層効果的に抑制できる。CO2は、空気に含まれる成分の中では比重が大きいので、封止空間S2にリーク流Lが流入した場合、封止空間S2に溜まりやすい。しかし、通路2eを封止空間S2の下側に設け、通路2eの底面2fを機械室S3へ向かって下方に傾斜させることで、封止空間S2に順次溜まっていくCO2ガスを機械室S3へスムーズに排出できる。
(5)図2を参照して、さらに培養装置1の作用効果を説明する。太実線の矢印は、送風装置11dにより圧送された空気(冷却風)の流れを示す。太破線の矢印は、封止空間S2から機械室S3やセンサボックス13内に排出されたCO2を主体とするガス(以下「CO2ガス」と称す)の流れを示す。
送風装置11dにより圧送された空気(冷却風)は、結露部材11aを冷却するペルチェ素子11bの発熱面を冷却し昇温した後、案内部材11eの案内によって、左側の開口13cからセンサボックス13内に流入する。この流入した空気の一部は、センサボックス13の底面に設けられた開口13bからセンサボックス13外に流出する。その際、センサボックス13内のCO2ガスを開口13bから追い出すと共に、センサボックス13内のCO2ガスを同伴して当該開口13bから流出する。また、センサボックス13内に流入した他の空気は、センサボックス13内のCO2ガスを、右側の開口13cから追い出すと共に、センサボックス13内のCO2ガスを同伴して当該開口13cから流出する。したがって、封止空間S2やセンサボックス13内のCO2ガスが順次排出されるので、封止空間S2にCO2ガスが滞留することがなく、CO2センサ8によるCO2濃度の測定への影響を抑制できる。
さらに、ペルチェ素子11bの発熱面を冷却し昇温した後の空気(冷却風)によりセンサボックス13内を昇温して、CO2センサ8の温度を適温に保持できる。
[3.その他]
上記実施形態では、空間S1(空気層2d)において、規制部材としてのシール材9によりCO2センサ8を上下左右から囲むようにしたが、規制部材を、CO2センサ8の上、下、左、及び、右の一つ、二つ又は三つに設けるようにしてもよい。或いは、シール材9の外周側に、別の枠状のシール材を設けてもよい。すなわち、シール材9を多重に設けてもよい。要するに、規制部材は、CO2センサ8へ向かう空気の流れを規制するものであれば、形状、配置及び個数は何ら限定されない。
上記実施形態では、空間S1(空気層2d)において、規制部材としてのシール材9によりCO2センサ8を上下左右から囲むようにしたが、規制部材を、CO2センサ8の上、下、左、及び、右の一つ、二つ又は三つに設けるようにしてもよい。或いは、シール材9の外周側に、別の枠状のシール材を設けてもよい。すなわち、シール材9を多重に設けてもよい。要するに、規制部材は、CO2センサ8へ向かう空気の流れを規制するものであれば、形状、配置及び個数は何ら限定されない。

本発明は、コストダウン及びサイズダウンが図られた培養装置を提供できる。よって、その産業上の利用可能性は多大である。

Claims (4)
- 培養空間が内側に形成された内箱と、
前記内箱の外側を第一の空間をあけて覆う外箱と、
第一の端部を前記培養空間に露出させつつ前記第一の空間に配置されるCO2センサと、
前記第一の空間内において、前記CO2センサへ向かう流体の流れを規制する規制部材と、を備えて構成された、培養装置。 - 前記規制部材は、前記内箱と前記外箱とに密着し、前記第一の空間内において前記CO2センサの周囲を囲う第二の空間を形成するシール材である、
請求項1に記載の培養装置。 - 前記第二の空間から前記外箱の外部へと連通する通路を有する、
