DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In this detailed description, the subject matter is explained with references to examples without forming any restrictive effect only in order to make the subject more understandable.
The present invention is essentially a traffic light mechanism (10) for determining the vehicles which do not obey the traffic lights (100).
Said traffic light mechanism (10) has a traffic light (100) which comprises a first warning item (110) and a second warning item (120) embodied to emit visible light with different colors, a first light source (200) associated with said traffic light (100) and a second source. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, said first warning item (110) emits red light and said second warning item (120) emits green light.
With reference to Figure 1 , there is a light sensor (400) positioned such that at least a part of the light, emitted by said first light source (200) and said second light source (300), will fall thereon. Said light sensor (400) is embodied to generate a signal depending on the light falling on said light sensor (400). Moreover, the light sensor (400) is electrically associated with a control unit (500). In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first light source (200) is configured to emit light in wavelengths existing in the visible spectrum. The second light source (300) is configured to emit invisible light in wavelengths existing outside of the visible spectrum.
The first light source (200) comprises pluralities of light emitters (not illustrated in the figures) arranged to create a light wall extending between the light sensor (400) and the first light source (200). Said light emitters are selected to emit light in straight line form.
With reference to Figure 2, said control unit (500) is embodied to activate the first light source (200) and the second light source (300) according to the operation condition of the first warning item (110) and the second warning item (120) existing in traffic light (100). The control unit (500) has a processor unit (510) embodied to receive the signals coming from the light sensor (400). Additionally, said processor unit (510) is arranged to make data exchange with a memory unit (520) embodied to keep various data in a permanent and temporary manner in its body. Moreover, the control unit (500) comprises a communication unit (530) arranged to communicate with the peripheral units with the management of the processor unit (510). In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the control unit (500) is configured to accommodate pluralities of processors.
There is a camera (600) embodied to capture image in the traffic light mechanism (10). The start of the image capturing process by said camera (600) is managed by the control unit (500).
A preferred embodiment of the present invention is described below;
The first warning item (110), which arranges passages of the vehicles on the road in the body of the traffic light (100) and which indicates that vehicle passage is forbidden, is configured to emit red light. A second warning item (120), which indicates that vehicle passage is permitted, is configured to emit green light. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, there is a third warning item which emits yellow light used to indicate that the vehicles shall prepare for the passage.
The first light source (200) is embodied to emit light by the control unit (500) when the first warning item (110) is in operation condition. When the first light source (200) starts emitting light, a light curtain, which is in the form of visible light, is formed between the light sensor (400) and the first light source (200). When an object enters into the light curtain, the amount of light which falls on the light sensor (400) is decreasing. The information of the amount of light falling onto the light sensor (400) is transferred to the processor unit (510) of the control unit (500). The processor unit (510) detects that the transmitted light amount decreases under a level which has been provided beforehand. When it is detected that the light amount decreases, signal is transferred to the camera (600) by the communication unit (530) in order to activate the camera (600). When the camera (600) is activated, it captures images and/or starts to capture images. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, when red light is turned on, the first light source (200) starts to emit red colored visible light.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the image taken from the camera (600) is transferred to a server (20). In said server (20), vehicle registration plate information is sought in the taken image. In case the vehicle registration plate information is determined, said vehicle registration plate information is compared with the vehicle registration plate information provided to the server (20) and the information related to the vehicle owner is accessed. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the communication information of the owner of the vehicle determined to have violated red light is determined, and the traffic ticket is transmitted.
In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, in the traffic light (100), when the yellow light is turned on, yellow colored light curtain is formed from the first light source (200), and when the red light is turned on, red colored light curtain is formed from the first light source (200), and when the green light is turned on, green colored light curtain is formed from the first light source (200). Thus, the color of the lamp, which turns on in the traffic light (100), becomes more visible for the vehicle drivers.
Another embodiment of the present invention is that a second light source (300) is activated during turning on of the lamps of the traffic light (100) where vehicle passages are permitted. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, when green lamp is turned on in the traffic light (100), the second light source (300) starts to emit invisible light. At least a part of the invisible light emitted from the second light source (300) falls onto the light sensor (400). When an object enters between the light sensor (400) and the second light source (300), the amount of light which falls onto the light sensor (400) is decreasing. The information of the amount of light falling onto the light sensor (400) is transferred to the processor unit (510) of the control unit (500). Each time when the processor unit (510) detects that the information of light amount is lower than a predetermined level, the value of a counter, provided in the memory unit (520), is incremented by one. Said counter is a memory part wherein various data can be stored. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the information of the number of vehicles which pass in case of green light is kept in the object counter. The number information is transferred to the server (20) by the communication unit (530) of the control unit (500). The information of vehicles which pass in case of green light is interpreted in the server (20) and information about the traffic condition can be obtained. In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the traffic condition information provides data for the applications like navigation.
In a different exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a rain sensor is provided in the region where traffic light mechanism (10) is used. By the rain sensor, the rain information in said region is transmitted to the server (20). The rain information and the traffic condition information are interpreted and the information of the traffic density, which will occur, is estimated. In an exemplary embodiment, the duration of traffic lights (100) can be adjusted according to traffic density.
The protection scope of the present invention is set forth in the annexed claims and cannot be restricted to the illustrative disclosures given above, under the detailed description. It is because a person skilled in the relevant art can obviously produce similar embodiments under the light of the foregoing disclosures, without departing from the main principles of the present invention.
